Holy shit I never realized til this comment that The Baby is 100% doing the same dance as The Man From Another Place

I guess liking and subbing for the full version and listening to the review and the analysis is just more proof of my INFJ mindsetπŸ˜„ And I hope you don't start going strictly by the numbers, we've got enough reactors sexualizing themselves or trying to be funnier and more dramatic than the shows/movies they're reacting to.

I always knew Urasawa was a Twin Peaks guy (like every japanese person his age lol) but i forgot how unsubtle he was about it haha

Thanks for all the historical context

I literally started watching this channel for haikyuu, and I stayed because of the discussions. I even went back to watch the hxh reactions and the wire, and tbh the discussions were the highlight

And it seems everyone is happy with the Vinland Saga ending, which is really rare with ending manga stories. But to be honest, Yukimura could have written any ending he wanted and everyone would have been happy. Vinland Saga settlement works, settlement fails, Thorfinn dies, Thorfinn survives, who knows what else could have happened, every scenario was accepted in advance by the fans as a possible ending.

In episodes 1, 10, 11, and 12, I wrote lengthy comments about the reasons for the rise of right-wing extremist groups and the crimes of the DDR/GDR. Today, I'd like to talk about racist attacks. There were many small attacks, but also a few large ones that are remembered nationwide every few years (5, 10, 15, 20, etc.). The best known are probably the Solingen arson attack in 1993 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_Solingen_arson_attack and the Lichtenhagen riots in 1992 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lichtenhagen_riots but there are also the Hoyerswerda riots in 1991 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoyerswerda_riots and a few more. They were strongly motivated by racism. A very ugly story. Fun fact: I lived next to the Sun Flower building in Lichtenhagen for two years in 2013-2015. The event is very present in the area with plaques erected. There are still a lot of Nazis in that part of Rostock. Here is a map of the latest election results: https://wahlen.sv.rostock.de/btw2025/gesamtuebersicht_gemeinde_13003000.html Scroll down a little for the map. Lichtenhagen is almost at the top left. Blue is the far-right AfD, black is the conservative CDU, and pink is the pro-Russia political left. When I mentioned in the comment under Episode 10 that East Germans are turning to the political extremes because of their dissatisfaction with reunification, it was no exaggeration. Here from all of Germany: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_German_federal_election#Results

Reading about it in Higurashi When They Cry blew my mind.

Fun news and not so fun facts. The Vince Gilligan/Rhea Seehorn show had a teaser drop. It's called Pluribus, comes out in November, and is apparently about a very depressed women saving the world from happiness. Talking about a Japanese author tackling issues of racism and Nazism, it is much more common in Manga and Anime then some people might think. I don't know how much of this is taught around the world, so if what I'm talking about seems obvious, please bear with me. Japan was one of Nazi Germany's biggest allies in WW2. The Nazi government justified the alliance and sold it to Japan by saying that the Japanese were the superior Asian race; and so the superior Germanic europeans and the superior Japanese should team up against the lessor races, which Japan agreed with due to their own racism and xenophobia. So you actually see a lot of anime where Japanese artists deal with the fact that their county and people aided that kind of evil. Fullmetal Alchemist deals with a country that is coded German committing genocide, and deals with some of the heroes participating in that genocide. Even Vinland Saga, Nazis regularly use Viking symbols and imagery, and this Japanese story deals with an actual viking rejecting that kind of hate and violence.

Unrelated to Monster buuuuut the Vinland Saga manga officially ended today!! 20 years of peak πŸ˜πŸ™ For those getting impatient waiting, i read the manga after watching season 2 and I have zero regrets. The art is stunning and the emotional moments still hit. I really do hope that the rest of the story gets animated one day, might break the record for most crying on the channel for a show haha. Today feels like the day AoT ended πŸ₯²
