Agree. Definitely a "majestic voice."

Clay F

Even if they completely missed with this episode (and possibly even with the entire season in general), they definitely did one thing right by putting Chris Cornell's majestic voice at the end of it. Perfect.

Never? I've seen a lot of people from there say they do get thunderstorms, maybe once or twice a year. Apparently it's rare but not so rare as to be unrealistic. That rogue wave tho...

Julien

✋🏻👩🏽🤚🏻✋🏻👱🏻‍♀️🤚🏻 both of you when Jessy got shot

Chloe

I'm a bit of a weather nerd and what set me off the most about this episode was the storm. Seattle never gets storms like that. And even if it did, a thunderstorm producing a giant rogue wave in Puget Sound is absurd. This production desperately needs an environmental consultant. Remember the giant mountains "10 miles outside of Boston" flub in Season 1?

I think this season was fine too. There’s plenty of changes that don’t bother me at all, same as last season. Sadly all my issues can really be boiled down to Ellie. Her character is genuinely coming across dumb as a rock, basically just loud and wrong all the time. Ellie in the game was so different, yet the story has largely remained the same. So when Ellie is written in a very different way, I cannot see what the purpose of those particular changes are. I think Bella Ramsey is a great actor, but there is something to be said for the fact that they’re the kind of person who looks the exact same as they did at 14. Combined with being 5 foot tall, it’s harder for the audience to feel intimidated by this performance which should be portraying an adult woman in the depths of grief and anger. Bella was perfect for a kid Ellie, but has the adult role been nailed in the same manner? It doesn’t feel like it to me. I am looking forward to season 3, but mainly because I want to see Abby’s story, not to see Ellie again. Not a good sign for the main character.

Darrach

i wish you could just play the game instead of waiting two years for a disappointing season 3 that won't even conclude the whole story...

petitcorbeau

It's kinda funny reading all these comments from people who really didn't like this season, when it seems like Lola and Milena enjoyed it just fine overall lol. I'm someone who played the games and I have a lot of love for them, but I'm also able to separate this as an adaptation, and most of the changes that have been made to it don't bother me. We'll also have to see how they pay off some of those things later on, but I still liked watching this season as well. I think it has problems, but I don't get people acting as if its the worst thing ever.

cosmotron

another example of how bad the writing was in this season.

petitcorbeau

It feels shoehorned in because it is. My guess is that the only reason that portion is there is so when the village assault happens in S3, we can hear the same alarm horn blowing and know where Ellie is in relation to it. Just feels like a weak way to overlap the two stories more.

Darrach

Someone under the last episode marveled at how quickly these were coming and jinxed it. 🤦‍♂️

Julien

I think if anyone loved the show in season 1 and asked if they should play the part 2 game and not wait I’d have said it’s 50/50 just whatever prefer. Now I’d say just play the game and not even watch the show.

Patrick

They could probably watch a compilation of the story, I didn’t think they’d ever play the game.

Patrick

Would love a poll between The Bear and Andor, what we want to watch first!

Robert Dirk H.

Can someone send them The Last of Us Part 2 with a PS5 so they feel obliged to play it? :D

Robert Dirk H.

I hope so!

Jesse S

After the bear any chance for Andor? 🙂🙂

Jesse S

With the recent news of Neil and Halley, who co-wrote Part 2 the game, exit the involvement of season 3. I can hardly find any optimism for season 3 and potentially season 4. Even if Kaitlyn Dever is a phenomenal actress, the way they handled Seattle portion of season 2 (particularly episode 4,5,7) really doesn't scream hope for season 3. If we go with the same one day/episode pacing in season 3, S3 gonna be like 4 to 5 episodes max😂. I feel like if they actually finished the S2 strong with an excellent Ep7 and course correct Ellie's characterization, some portion of the original fans might still be on board with what they tryna expand in S3 like the Prophet and the ongoing larger conflict between Scars and WLF. But with just Craig making all the creative decisions and no other collaborators, It would take a miracle to have great S3 & potentially S4 imo, even though Ep6 S2 on its own was fantastic particularly the porch scene which might be the most important scene of the 2nd game.

Raphgod7

I like that you could cut out the entire part of Ellie being captured by the Scars and the episode would be exactly the same

My Toasty Toast

Maybe 11 more weeks until ANDOR? 😮‍💨

Raphgod7

I've heard other people say this but I could never hear anything wrong, is there a specific scene that is noticeable? I want to go back and see if I can spot it.

ksg

Don't want to spend a lot time ragging on Bella Ramsey amid of all the other awful shit thrown at them, but imo their American accent here is... not great.

Mike

I’m not a gamer. I agree entirely regarding the idea that these two tiny women could represent any kind of threat in Seattle. Perhaps it's because I'm old enough to be their parents but to my eyes, they literally look like children. This part of the story seems to require a physicality and menace that Bella Ramsey simply doesn't have. At the same time, recasting wouldn't have worked with the first two episodes. It just wouldn't have. I love the actress and I think she was fantastic in season 1 but they should have thought of season 2 when they cast her for season 1.

Julien

The fall off from Season one to season two is so huge. I'm in the minority of people who doesn't mind the story of the game but they really butchered Ellie's character in this one and the actress is taking the blunt of the hate for it. I don't think they should have kept her as Ellie because she just seems like a child probably because you see her in the show doing flashbacks as a child and she looks basically the same as she does in season 1. It just seems so dumb to think that they would last a second in Seattle alone and Dina is basically a child too both like 5 foot tall. It's unrealistic in the game but it's a video game grace is baked but the TV show doesn't get that same grace. Besides that the writing for Ellie this year is atrocious and I felt like they wanted me to dislike her on purpose. My wife and sister who knows nothing about the game besides that it exists both hate Ellie because of how dumb and selfish she is in the show. I liked Ellie's character in the game even when she made poor and stupid choices. Next season will probably be worse to be honest

Timothy Smith

I will say while I really don’t like this season at all and mostly agree with you. I don’t know where you would stop it honestly, coming into the season i already thought that any place they stop it would be bad

BigJo H

And the guy at the beginning that you saw in the trailer of whatever show that was, wasn’t Keanu reeves or the actor that played Ragnar lmao. He did play the brother of Wendy in ozark.

BigJo H

It’s really funny that Jesse believes that Ellie would do everything to save him if he was in danger and in the scene on the roof in the same episode she proved that she wouldn’t save him by choosing to abandon Tommy to go chase Abby

BigJo H

I REALLY didn't like this season lmao. do not read if you don't want to read me ranting for paragraphs. By this point I was mentally checked out but they still managed to bother me somehow by ending on a damn cliffhanger that show-only viewers will have to wait ~2 years to have answered... except not really cuz it won't be answered in s3 ep 1. does Craig Mazin not understand that in the game, you get to KEEP PLAYING IMMEDIATELY? you can finish the whole story in one weekend lmao. why do shows do this. what happened to telling good self contained stories? what happened to time, and care, and respect for the audience, fighting for eyeballs, building episodes to keep viewers locked in + coming back during ad breaks... we used to be a real country sheesh. I actually think there's a chance the show won't finish, or will be abruptly wrapped up with a movie or something, because I think viewership will plummet in S3 with the sudden perspective shift to characters they haven't spent enough time building out. We already know (almost) everything. I AGREE I AM SOOO SICK OF "SEASON 2 PART ONE/PART TWO" RAHHHHH. Just make good television! We've gone from "its a setup episode" to "its a setup season" like wtf... TV writers used to write like their lives depended on it, like the show could be cancelled at any point. What did we really learn about Ellie that wasn't told to us (describing the 5 years off camera) OR shown in the clunkiest, most nostalgia bait flashbacks? If they knew they had 7 episodes WHY did they structure it like that and choose to cut there? I don't wanna audit individual bad decisions (there are many imo) but the holistic whole just.... is a failure of a season imo. it's giving Westworld S3. it's almost giving Game of Thrones S7 👀 also a 7 episode season, hmmm...

Kara

I really didn't like it but I don't want to "yuck anyone's yum". ftr I thought S1 and S2 were incredible and S3 was mid. Some people say it was an improvement so maybe you'll feel the same 🥰

Kara

I’m curious about this season of the bear… I wasn’t a big fan of the last season and ive been told that this new season is almost the same as the last one lol..but I can’t wait to see it with you girls.

You two have watched all of The Bear already, haven't you? :P

Michael M

is it about our sunshine natalie?

LM Reactions

This season was hugely disappointing, solely based on the terrible writing and character development choices. A huge letdown after season 1.

Brakthir

There were about 4-5 scenes in The Bear S4 where i said to myself “omg this is gonna destroy Lola & Milena” 💀 cant wait 👨🏽‍🍳
