I hope you get back to the Godfather reactions before you start on a new show after the Sopranos. Or at least watch The Godfather 2 because the 3rd one is not as much of a must watch.

Imo that was purely opportunistic justification on Tony’s part. Not that it isn’t true, but I think Tony’s reasoning for killing Christopher was a lot more complicated than that

You missed the scene before Tony killed Chris. Tony saw that the child seat had a stick in it from the trees. In that moment, he realized that by Chris's messed up addiction, if his child was in that car seat, the child would have been dead. So in that moment, he made a decision. Chris was beyond repair and a danger to his own children and family. That's why he killed him.
Not to condone him, but just pointing out his rationale in that moment. So it wasn't really that Tony is a psycho...
The show points this out by showing us that car seat and Tony starring at it multiple times before he did it.
