2025-03-28 01:28:32 +0000 UTCI haven't watched other people's reaction on Severance, so I don't know why they were upset. The only discourse I saw was regarding certain character's identity. (I don't wanna spoil to discussion here). I love the finale and understand the decision made by that character in the end. I feel like innie Mark was gonna make that decision for himself regardless, and they set up that decision really well throughout the episode from outie M outie&innie Mark's conversation and Helly's speech.

I loved the stuff with his wife, but don't know how that had anything to do with his actions in the finale. Ditto for Milchick, actually: Very compelling all season... until a mostly disconnected-from-that-arc ending in the finale 🤷♂️ @Josh B I expect Irv will be back for an episode, maybe two. It doesn't sound like Turturro is interested in signing up for another go-round as a series regular.

SPOILERS>> Speaking only for myself, the upsetness was only at Mark S in that moment and as a reaction to Gemma - I loved Helly R so much that whole episode, the whole time I was watching it and Dylan. I think we also spent a lot of time character building with outtie Mark though, and at least for me, I’ve had experience with grief/loss where I could understand his pain and while it doesn’t excuse his dismissal of his innie — which can be a metaphor for how he dismisses his subconscious self, his own pain — Lumon also seems to have manipulated him into getting the chip in the first place (they’ve been watching him and Gemma for a while now and we still don’t know why..) hurt people hurt people. I think the episode was so (intentionally) stressful I didn’t catch ways outtie Mark was being manipulative of his innie the first time, like saying he’s reintegrating because he sees how unfair this is to him. Anyway, this all to say of course innie Mark chooses self preservation - as he should. Of course outtie Mark wouldn’t reintegrate once he gets his wife back (though I do believe he would fight Lumon). And in the end, the most interesting part is how each innie will become like their outtie through life experiences (we’ve already seen some of that this season as their innocence started to fade) vs how they will learn to be better people in a kind of natural reintegration. The concept of identity, and whether these are two different people or the same person, is definitely the most fascinating part of the show to me. Sorry why did I go off on this rant…

It's so shocking to me how reactors have spent 19 episodes falling in love with the innies and cheering them on, only for them to suddenly be like "how dare you not kill yourself!! fuck you!!" Like... REALLY?!?! How. I honestly don't get it.

Have enough liquid cash to give insane deals and outcompete any smaller provider, then start raising prices once your user base is big enough. They are not losing billions if they are pretty certain they will make it back hand over fist in the future. Not to mention 1 billion to Apple is nothing

2025-03-27 20:34:43 +0000 UTCOkay spoilers in case anyone hasn’t seen the Finale!!!!! I mean technically you’re right i don’t *know* how they’ll react lol. I just trust them more than any other reactors. I HOPE they immediately Get It, but even if they don’t, i know they’ll understand during their discussion. Personally i was cheering for Mark to make that choice *during* the episode, so i didn’t feel frustrated with him at ALL lol. Yes it’s sad for Gemma, but they did literally everything they could for her, and that was clear to me in the episode. It also helps that i was VERY frustrated with how oMark treated iMark in the cabin scene, so i wasn’t too heartbroken to know he’d have to wait for iMark to have his moment before he got to have his life back. Go INNIES!!

2025-03-27 20:09:11 +0000 UTCWait, how do you know this already re episode 10? Or you just trust that they would (I get that since they’re so perceptive/empathetic towards characters). I feel the difficulty with some reaction videos is they shoot their immediate reaction only, and don’t give it like, an hour to come back to. These two have often come back after especially emotionally charged episodes ie in the Breaking Bad days, and gave their takes after taking a break. Anyway I say all that because I watched a couple reactors that had that same reaction (anger towards *him*; was a bit disappointed with a couple reactors myself who are usually perceptive but I’m not gonna call people out) and said this and I initially felt negative emotions after watching too. Speaking for myself, it came from visceral reaction to seeing our other character banging on the door who my heart was breaking for (trying not to spoil in the comments though I know Mina and Lola have seen it), but I then know why he did it and of course there was no other decision. The story is just such a Greek tragedy either way, and so all I can feel is pain, but it is SO so good. 😩 I feel for all the characters now.

It was always only going one way narratively and character wise. LM are so savvy with character and story I'm sure they'll clock it immediately. Can't wait to rewatch it.

I think this is the first time i’ve seen someone say that (because yeah, people are busy dehumanizing the innies lol). I personally thought episode 9 had some structural flaws but thought episode 10 was almost perfect.

I can’t believe people watched 2 seasons of commentary on the exploitation of the working class and decided to hate on the oppressed group (who ultimately still did the right thing by getting Gemma out lol)

Apple is a trillion dollar company and so 1 billion is almost like a rounding error honestly. But the news is pushing as them losing the money but in reality they are investing in quality content. As Apple always strives to do, release quality over quantity. They started their streaming service in 2019 and didn’t start off with decades of intellectual property to pull from and most if not all of it is original. You can’t really build that up if you aren’t willing to lose money.

Season 2 took 186 days to shoot and they block shoot out of order with everything written beforehand (though they're rewriting up to the wire sometimes). Then post and there's a lot of visual effects. They're writing now and will likely shoot over winter. Season 2 started shooting in October 2ü22.

This season as a whole felt like it had moments of high peaks (and that one very good flashback episode) but the flow of the story wasn't as sharp as it was last season. Cobel's arc (if you can even call it that) was probably the most disappointing. She felt more like a device than a full character this season. Dylan's was definitely a highlight though and his arc flowed well.

I don't know how much of this ending was a late audible driven by Turturro leaving(?) the show, but it really felt like we needed another hour unpacking what his Outie was up to and developing his relationship with Burt outside the severed floor. I think there was a (potentially) interesting thread here where Outie Irving, who has apparently never experienced love in his life, gives himself over to loving Burt on the logic that, if his Innie loved him, his Outie would too. But the show only got a chance to nibble around that idea, which is a real shame. Anyway, I guess we'll see what Season 3 brings for Irv in 2035!

2025-03-27 03:34:39 +0000 UTCLol I think my mom is pretty similar with characters, whenever I watch something with her she's always asking me "is that a good guy or a bad guy? so is this guy good?" and I get a headache trying to explain it's sometimes not black and white. I think she just likes someone to root for and there not to be many twists and turns. Unless it's a Turkish soap opera, then she's all about the twists. No she's not Turkish and learned the language through watching it.
