As a black person there's that extra extra layer of WTF? DO these white people know how insane this is?

Milena’s point about Mark’s feelings for Helly not touching his feelings for Gemma was interesting. Because initially i thought the same (and i still think his feelings for his wife will be stronger due to their history) but when i remembered Petey’s description of reintegration, i started thinking it might not be so clear cut and simple. "It's like having two different lives suddenly stitched together. But the relativity's fucked. So, my first day at Lumon's as far back as my fifth birthday. And with two pasts, it blurs the present too. But they said it will get better.” Mark’s first meeting with Helly could feel like a LIFETIME ago. Another thing we need to consider is the strength of Innie Mark’s feelings towards Helly, he’s two and a half years old, and this is his first love. If what people say about the intensity of first love is true… well. It could be a lot more confusing for Mark than we’d think. Ultimately i think the tragedy of this is that Mark reintegrating could be what prevents him from saving Gemma. If Cold Harbor is really about bringing back her consciousness or something, then reintegration could ruin that. Someone compared it to Orpheus and Eurydice, looking back at his deceased wife is what prevented him from saving her from the underworld. Reintegrating to see Gemma could be what prevents him from saving her.

milkshake and natalie looking at each other telepathically saying “wt actual f” at the “recanonicalized” paintings lol excellent acting from both, such an uncomfortable and eerie scene ! 🤌🏼

My theory is that the goat people are actually homeless. I can absolutely see Lumon approaching homeless people and asking if they want to spend their winter severed or something. That would mean Lumon could keep them for longer periods of time before they need to leave work again, and could explain why they look so disheveled and whacky. Could also explain Petey’s “people live here” on part of his map

windyMelon

this isn’t an original observation but the parallels between mark and gemma’s relationship and that of greek mythology’s orpheus and eurydice become more striking by the episode. a grief stricken man descending into the underworld (the severed floor) to save his “dead” wife. i cant imagine their story ending happily unfortunately

Yesterday I found out Ricken's book is real & free on Apple books https://books.apple.com/us/book/the-you-you-are/id6738364141 Here's an... interesting excerpt from chapter 4 The Coitus Among Us which discusses the conception of his & Devon's daughter: "I think we just fucked the universe into existence."......."How do you figure that, my babe?" Indeed, our lovemaking, which had commenced hours prior, had taken us through four separate rooms of the house, each of which, to my knowledge, was a part of the existing universe. She shook her head. "No, that one was fake. Everything before now was a simulation." "A simulation? By whom, pray tell?" "I don't know. Maybe the French." "Ooh la la, mon diue!" And then Ricken goes on to talk about how he's made love 786 time and how there are different versions of sex, like poetry or longing. More interestingly than Ricken's sex life, he talks about Mark & Gemma in the book too

I'm so hype for my boy Irving. I'm certain, especially with his ex-military background, that he decided to get a job at Lumon in order to infiltrate & expose it's wrongdoings. Mad respect. I really wanna see him react to the knowledge that innie Irving, for the most part, hasn't been trying to unravel the mysteries of the company, and instead has been dealing with being madly in love with his coworker lol

I'm feeling the first line of thought, I'm still not on the Cobel Is Severed train. Helena was going to have her goon restrain & kidnap Cobel so she can be forcibly given the severance surgery. I feel like given Cobel's reaction, she realize that orrr thought she was just gonna straight up die. Also based off Cobel's reaction, I think she's aware of those things being done to others, and this could be done to her too

Yarrow

To me it doesn't seem that odd how Helena responds, that's just how someone as powerful as her sees people beneath her (Harmony being severed or not, Helena is always in control because of her position as an Eagan), although it's cool to think of the implications of a severed Harmony. I really want to see more of them, along with Milchick, they're the most interesting to me

HenryM

I think the Cobel/Helena interaction is actually a bit deeper than that - Helena used the term “reset” and that’s what stuck for Cobel. It seems to imply that Cobel is severed but doesn’t even know it, but may be just realizing that. Helena is not threatened in the slightest by her, doesn’t respond emotionally to anything she says, which is odd to me personally. As if Helly knows that Cobel isn’t in true control.

Ron H

Feel sorry for me. I had to think it

Isaac

The guy that scared Cobel--what if he has a tattoo that says "dread" or "Malice" on him? He seemed to invoke a feeling of fear in her similar to how "the numbers get scary" while they're refining them. And since we saw that dude with "frolic" on his hand I just got this image of Helena walking around with all her "tempers" being refined into different people (severance final form??) Idk I think I've overthought this show so much I'm not making sense anymore lolll

there was something called "the mind" in the map that Petey drew in season one with many question marks. It was an area in the Lumon building. In the video that they showed with our group in the break room in this season, the building talks about being 'tickled' by their presence. What if Kier is trying to create a huge Hive mind within the Lumon building (Lol). And the mind is probably connected to the faceless "board"--and to Kier.

Harfie

Sir that’s unhinged

Sarah S

I don’t know if there’s enough to support this, but Helena’s comment, “why don’t we reset?”, made me wonder if she’s speaking more literally than surface level. I do feel like Lumon needs Harmony for some reason, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be this version. Wonder if Helena was planning on taking her to be severed right then and there. BUT that’s only if she hasn’t already been severed though… if she was severed, I know they were tinkering/fine tuning how much memory to erase on the innies, so maybe they know how to kind of reset Harmony into a prior version that was more “compliant”. Maybe they have a “save file” of her they can reload, but aren’t able to do it remotely, but be somewhat similar to the reintegration process… Totally just emptied my thoughts here, hopefully they’re somewhat coherent

RPSiege

Toss the Helly chip into Ms Casey, 2 loves 1 innie. Easy right? We are so not getting happy endings lol

Isaac

Just when you thought this was gonna be a slow burn, BAM they hit you with reintegration time and we're only on episode 3! To explain the Harmony bit, she wouldn't go in the car because she felt her life was being threatened, you know, like a mobster asking you to go for a ride with them and knowing you won't come back. You girls need to see more mafia movies coughThegodfather2cough Also Milena's reaction to anything Helena does is gold lmao

HenryM

Some clarifications on some of the terminology: Mammalians just refers to mammals (like the goats are mammals) and the whole "pouchless" thing I THINK is referring to the rumor that Burt told Irving about, that MDR all have pouches

Mahni Alizadeh

Lumon has a tendency to use doublespeak for their naming conventions. A break room is normally a room where you could relax and take a break, but in the severed floor it's a room where they break you down. Definitely something to keep in mind for the exports room. My guess is that it has to do with the permanent innies in some way.

IanJ

"I guess by the end of the season or something" got me good

Mahni Alizadeh

I was so shocked to see reintegration happen at the end of this episode… I didn’t think we would see that until next season at the earliest 😲 Can’t wait to see what happens next 😬

David

2 years is a good estimation. This is one of the most expensive TV shows and Ben Stiller is a perfectionist

Isaac

I think Harmony did not follow Helena any further because she realised she could be killed right here and now if they decided she’s too much trouble, hence the focus on Helena’s physically imposing bodyguard. Also, Peteys chip was never removed. He was reintegrated with it still in his head, as it would be fatal to physically remove it. Harmony then later took it back for Lumon during Peteys funeral.

Darrach

In season 1 Burt also mentioned to Irving that he thought people from MDR has pouches. It's a popular rumor about MDR from the other departments. One of the more interesting theme brought up this season is what we as humans would be like without the baggage and trauma that comes with us. It gave us a lot of insight into the kind of people who would work at Lumon or the type they prey upon; A man who lost his wife, a tortured artist, and a "fuck up". We see what their personalities would look like without those things weighing on their minds and you can almost see the appeal of taking a severed job. Dylan became one of the more interesting characters for me to explore this season after this episode.

IanJ

Burt explained last season that O&D had heard a rumour that people in MDR had pouches. Apparently the Mammalian department has heard the same. I'm curious if outie Mark knows who Helena Eagan is. She must be somewhat famous. He didn't seem to know her last season (when he almost ran her over with his car) but that was a split-second thing. If he really thinks about it... He's probably heard of her, right?

Mike

Ms Huang is a kid. Baby goats are kids. /points crazily at charts on wall

Michael M

Good call to mute Mark. Invincible is on the way :P
