Maybe you can watch an anime movie call "Look Back", after frieren, it's a short movie, only about 55 mins but i think you would enjoy it.

You'd love the series, I'm 100% certain, and it would be a good successor to Frieren. It's very funny, very cute, heartwarming, wholesome, lovingly made anime. Sure, it loses to Frieren but what anime wouldn't? It's still very much suited to you both, I think.
