Mad Men is very good. I need to rewatch it some day

Tony does not receive bad news over the phone well. Three instances so far where he beats the fuck out of a phone. Crazy how much he starts sweating from pure fury after hearing about Janice trying to take a loan out on the house!
Tony trying to use Hesh as a substitute therapist is pretty funny. Hesh is his friend, but nothing more, and certainly not a sounding board.
Pussy being cut out and immediately echoing his handlers words from a few episodes back is really interesting. And of course here the handler feeds right into it, further driving the wedge between Pussy and the rest of the guys.
i love the long, single-shot sequence of Furio demolishing the massage parlour. We see very quickly that Furio has a cold, ruthless efficiency about him that none of the other gangsters so far have had. No comedy or buffoonery or one-liners like the rest of Tony’s crew often engage in, just swift and demonstrative violence.
Tony smiling hearing the gunshots is pretty twisted too, right after he is being compared to a little boy by Melfi.
The last shot of Chris walking in the alley after ditching his writings is pretty sad, and very foreboding. Totally forgot about it since first watching the show.

Melfie is seeing a therapist because she's a therapist herself not because of Tony. From what i've heard, all therapists have their own therapist which makes sense when you think about it. In any case, i'm sure she was seeing this therapist way before Tony was in the picture.

That scene with Tony sitting in the car giggling like a boy while he listens to people getting brutally attacked just after Melfi said "he can be such a little boy" is so brilliant. She's right though, Tony is often a fun, giggling boy a lot of the time, but he also bullies, kills, extorts, threatens, and so on, which is a direct contrast, but in that scene we see both at the same time.

In relation to tony being a father figure for chris, there are a number of readings that suggests christopher’s frustration towards his father and the acting partner is also directed at tony whose approval he has been chasing since the first episode.
They both share a similarity of having proxy father figures that are alive in place of their real fathers. And part of a push and pull of this series is going to be a examination of their past ghosts and present conflicts and how messy interpersonal relationships can get in relation to that.
Also both of their stories are direct gender flipped parallels to the mob wives episode of last week. They are all trapped in outdated idea of gender roles in their subculture which further compounds on all existing mental issues they currently have.
The entire season is slowly layering the idea of all these people being trapped in their lives, in various different ways and to varying degrees.

I think it would be better if you didn't reveal the name of the episode. I know it's not quite a spoiler but it's close.

The Christopher story in this episode is one of my favorite Christopher subplots. I think you two nail it on the head on what Christopher took away from the whole experience. Since his father died so young and his only other father figure in his life is someone like Tony, hearing words of fatherly support and love from someone, then realizing its fake, was too much for him. His anger at being fatherless got transferred to the actor who was playing Chris's father.
Honestly, with further training, Christopher can hone his acting further, and his improv skills aren't too bad either. But in the end he decided that he doesn't want to deal with his emotions and threw away his scripts. One thing this show does well is make you wonder on what these characters can potentially be without the mob life looming over their heads.
Melfi's therapy sessions are back as well and I'm as happy as you girls are when it finally happened. Her best scenes with Tony aren't even here yet and there's so much we can delve into in the future. I also realized that Tony was lying to Melfi when he said that he doesn't really need therapy in the car, when this whole episode he was trying to make Hesh his therapist lol.

I think Janice is only like 2 years older than Tony. So her and Richie’s age gap is at least five years.

So Richie is a certified pedophile right? Tony says "High school? Grabbing blowjobs on my mother's couch?". Richie is definitely a significant number of years older than Tony, and there's maybe a 5-6 year age difference between Tony & Janice. Janice moved out of state after finishing highschool. We don't know Richie's age for sure but his actor David Proval is 20 years older than Janice's.
Just another thing to add to how detestable Richie is.

I think the term you were looking for to describe Furio in English is "the muscle". The person you rely on to do the physical tasks and be able to handle anything dangerous with skill and scary competence.
Furio is The Muscle now.
His intro in this episode is so interesting because he was so friendly and gregarious at the welcome party -- playing with the kids and families in ways that we never see Tony or Chris or Paulie do -- and that doesn't stop him from being coldly violent later.
I think Hesh is the closest thing that Tony has to an actual close friend, and that's so sad. As a friend of Tony's father and an outside Associate he's not quite the same as everybody else in the Family, who more concretely work FOR Tony. But even Hesh isn't really THAT close to him, and is more similar to what most people have as a work-friend. They can talk about some personal things, but Tony can't let himself be vulnerable with him. It's only now, two years after his first panic attack, that Tony even admits they're happening to him (And is shocked to learn that his father had them as well).
This episode is where we can say "officially" that Dr. Melfi has made a mistake by accepting Tony back as a patient. Once she admitted in her own therapy that she wanted to take Tony back because it would be therapeutic for her. No therapist is ever completely disconnected from their patients, but it is part of the code of ethics to step back themselves once they become too personally involved. If Dr. Melfi was honestly concerned about Tony and wanted to really help him, but realized that she was so strongly drawn to him, she should have found a consenting colleague and referred Tony to them.

Janice is a very interesting character, in my opinion she is hated more for what she does in relation to Tony, and the public loves Tony so one thing collides with the other (I myself hate her more for this than for her attitudes themselves)

“You can’t help it son, you did everything a man could” was the line that triggered Christopher to cry
Tony is basically Christopher’s Livia, both wish they could be babies protected by an idolized version of their parent
