I apologize in advance if they caught onto why nobody answered their phone, but I'm pretty sure there's like a 2 second scene in this episode which shows them putting their phones in the lockers, because they were in service. Richie mentioned that a couple episodes ago, in one of his talks before service: "No phones during service.". Also I just have the need to express how, at least for me, Donna's dream before giving birth to Natalie, no matter how simple it is, is beautiful. One of my favorite moments in the show. With the fish tank and the glass separating representing her giving birth to Natalie. And "It wasn't bad, because I knew that more people were gonna get to see these beautiful fish.", "these beautiful fish" being Natalie. That's at least how I understood it. Just amazing writing. Goes to show it doesn't have to be complex to be incredible.

the way she mouthed the words to the song, as if she couldn't say them out loud hit me hard.

I've been no-contact with my mom for over 10 years now due to her mental health problems. As a guy, I've found that it's very difficult to date because of this. Invariably the question of family comes up and when I explain that I'm no-contact and why, things usually fizzle fast. It's just really nice to see two women who understand that there are legitimate reasons to exclude a parent from your life.

I have never tried to stop tears from falling by tipping my head back. Live and learn. 🙃

Oh my, episode made me cry so much. When Natalie says to Donna "I just didn't want all the stuff you bring with you", I think she's expressing a very difficult theme around mental health. The person suffering from mental health issues often feels that their identity cannot be separated from those issues, and that can be very devastating; it can make one feel broken and that things will never get better. I feel Natalie is telling her mom something very loving: I love YOU, but you often bring painful stuff with you. In a way, she's telling her that she is not her illness, that despite everything, at her core, she loves her, even though it’s so hard. But that’s something very, very complex to accept, especially when the person suffering from the illnes causes harm. A question lingers in the mind: Was the person I love the one who harmed me, or was it the illness? That question is really at the heart of many relationships with loved ones who suffer from mental health issues

For me the problem is this season feels unsatisfying. At the end of the first and second season, i felt satisfied with the story even tho there was more to tell. But this season just didnt feel complete. That said i dont think its bad, i just dont think it is as good as the other 2

Most of the hate I’ve seen stems from ppl getting a little worn out by the chaotic formula the show has and not understanding how Carmy is spiraling so hard

KIMI

haven’t watched this season yet but i feel like most of the hate comes from some fans being disappointed that carmy and sydney aren’t a thing

perfect reaction to a perfect episode

"Pete, where the fuck do you need to be with your 9 month old wife?" Prison. Pete needs to be in prison for that. :P

This episode is one of the Highlight of this season along with ep 1 and 6. Also no one being available is kinda crazy. I get its to make her mother be the only option but its still feels like a forced way to make it happen

BigJo H

Yeah but then we wouldn’t get the drama if ppl did things rationally in television

KIMI

One of my issues with this season is that many of the crises seem contrived and plot driven. For example, in this episode, i dont think there’s anyway a reasonable person would go on a business trip when their partner could give birth at any time. Especially if they weren’t in great hands like a live-in relative that was reliable. Same goes with many of Carmy’s decisions this season… anybody in his position would know how tenuous a restaurant’s survival is, especially a new one. And would not try to actively make its survival more difficult.

theres plenty of recent media depicting the inevitability of generational trauma so its nice to have an episode showing that the poison doesn’t have to drip through, that people can choose to be better. that kind of earnestness and authenticity is what sets the bear apart from other shows imo

Sebastian

it keeps popping up on my twitter and people have a lot of praise for it, ill keep it in mind

Been waiting for this one.

You guys should watch interview with the vampire. It’s the best show on tv right now. Season 1 just came out on Netflix.
