The first movie is still worth seeing, we might get it at some point, but I'm honestly pretty happy about the second movie. They wouldn't like the second movie and it would ruin the story for them. In my opinion, the second movie only makes sense if you watch it after episode 9. With the character development of Violet in the episodes after that, it just doesn't fit. Also, the relationship at the end of the movie between the two main characters is just inappropriate for how Violet grew up and the changes the anime did. The last episode of the anime TV show simply ended the story better.

Really sucks they didn't get too enjoy his amazing OST's he wrote in the Violet Evergarden movie. Still inexplicable that they didn't watch it.

I just have to mention again what a good job Evan Call does as a composer. In Violet Evergarden he's already written great OSTs, but here in Frieren I think he's outdone himself. It just fits the show perfectly: emotional, a bit playfully cheerful at times, then epic but not too over the top.

It's again very telling about Stark's strength, that he finished the battle against Linie in one hit (without landing any prior to that) straight after he got over his mental block and realized he is not fighting his master. Once again Stark doesn't realize just how Strong he is (until the end of the battle that is) and his biggest fight is inside his mind. It's really cool and gives Stark's character so much humanity because so many of us struggle with self-doubt. That said, Linie is pretty scary even with her movements being just imitations. And I give a lot of credit for that to the animators. They really cooked this episode. Especially Linie's movements during the battle were so damn fluid! The same goes for those magic animations during Lugner's and Fern's battle. Top that with the amazing song "Zoltraak" playing in the background during the battle and you have a peak episode!

I don’t know why, but my favorite scene from this is such a small subtle thing. When the battle has begun and they cut back to Fern, as she’s slowly walking toward Lugner taking out his blood tendrils, she does this small little side step to evade an attach, but makes it looks so effortless. For some reason, that really emphasizes how cool Fern is to me

found it noteworthy that both linie and lugner lost because of their own human-like “mistakes”. linie’s grave error was not finishing off stark when she had the chance and she even tells him he should’ve just stayed down. her death then causes lugner to briefly lose concentration thereby giving fern an opening for the killshot

Thank you 🥰

i love how calm fern was through that entire fight. no challenge for her at all, truly frieren's apprentice

Hard to believe that the adorable elf in my new profile picture eating a hamburger, is the same elf who has killed the most demons in history lol

Jay

Happy birthday!! Hope this day brings you just as much joy as Frieren Friday does and even more if possible <3

Aris

The cosmos have aligned and made my birthday fall on a frieren Friday 🥳 ❤️

On a separate note episode 10 may be my favorite episode, next Friday cannot come quick enough

Your pronunciation of Eisen has something Austrian about it :D If you are unsure, you can simply play the pronunciation here (speaker symbol): https://m.dict.cc/deutsch-englisch/Eisen.html

No way that was her... :(

:( I just read the voice actress for Flamme died a couple days ago

Atar

She was working right up until she passed, apparently she had an illness so it’s not like it was a surprise for her family or anything. I’m hoping she was still performing out of passion, grit, and love for voice acting, leaving behind as much an impression before passing.

My Toasty Toast

That made me really sad. Whenever a voice actor dies, you always get to see these coulages with characters they've spoken for, and then you just realize again what a talent has died. She was also relatively young with 61 years.

RIP Flamme’s VA Atsuko Tanaka who passed earlier this week

My Toasty Toast

This episode is simply great. A lot has been done here in terms of animation and the movements are extremely smooth. In addition, we have the emotional depth. Nevertheless, the next episode is clearly my favorite in this mini-arc.

On May 21 this year a man helped to stop a knife attack in a train in Taiwan. It was viral because he says he was inspired by Himmel: "‘It’s what the hero Himmel would’ve done’." https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/it-s-what-the-hero-himmel-would-ve-done-taiwanese-otaku-who-stopped-knife-attack-on-train-says-anime-inspires-him

when Lola said how did you (Stark) survive that cut, I think these particular demon's abilities so far that we've met both can "mimic", with Lugner and his words, Linnie with Eisen's attacks. Both mimic, both no "depths" to these abilities. I kinda have a theory that Stark let the cut happen just to see how strong it would be. In the end, rather than alluding his strength surpassing the demon, he commended Eisen's strength instead ("my master's blows were heavier").

Wooooo! Frieren Friday, one of the best days in the week! (Even though it actually Saturday in New Zealand when I watch it 😆)
