The final shot of the city with Lucy’s dad walking to it is very recognizable to Americans. It’s Las Vegas, recognizable due to the Stratosphere Tower. Las Vegas is the pinnacle of American consumerism and arguably the most notable American tourist attraction probably second only to Disney World. So go figure it’s very important in Fallout, which is very much a commentary on America. It is a very prominent set piece in one of the the video games as well, but I’m sure the show will explain as well so there’s no need to elaborate further on the backstory of it.

Of course Ella Purnell (Lucy) is fantastic as well. Loved watching this for the first time with you two, can't wait for Season 2!!!

2024-07-04 22:52:47 +0000 UTCI started replaying 4 after watching the show. I wanted to replay FNV but that game no longer works on some rigs even with mods. So I had to settle for 4. Be sure to install the Unofficial Patch because the game is still full of bugs 10 years after release. Bugs that modders have fixed for free but the incredibly rich Bethesda hasn't bothered with. Todd Howard says he loves New Vegas but he can't even be bothered to give it a legacy update, although the game not working even with mods is the fault of AMD drivers. Bethesda doesn't even show 4 some love by making the unofficial patch official like they did with Skyrim. I'm really glad Starfield failed, hopefully it forces them to course correct and put some effort in. If Elder Scrolls 6 is as uninspired as Starfield that would be sad.

2024-07-04 22:24:51 +0000 UTCThis finale was just perfect because it answered a lot of questions that were thrown into the room in the first 7 episodes. Personally, I hadn't played Fallout before, as the developer Bethesda has always attracted negative attention in recent years, be it through questionable business practices or unfinished or inferior games that the modders then fix for free, which is why I didn't buy Fallout 4 despite my interest. A classmate from back then had always played Fallout New Vegas, so I knew the rough concept and elements of the world. It was cool to see them in the show. I'm looking forward to the second season and maybe I'll pick up Fallout 4 for a single-digit euro amount at some point to enjoy the world with the improvements and solutions the modders have come up with.

As for vault tech dropping the bombs, im not sure if they did because the wife would have made sure her daughter was with her when they drop the bombs. I think vault tech wanting to drop the bombs is enough for everyone to understand what they are

2024-07-04 01:09:32 +0000 UTCI like the ending but I’m also a bit weirded out by how dumb down some of the plot elements are and how they confirmed some elements that were speculation at to this point.. for example, before this show came out, it was only implied that Vault tech dropped the bombs in the games. Also, how they portrayed the NCR in this show you would think they are the “good” guys lol when in reality they are failed post apocalyptic democracy that tried to bully small communities by absorbing them with their faction… also fucking taxes in the post apocalyptic world? Yeah the NCR can kiss dirt lol my point is that while I like the show, I kinda wish they were more focused on the factions and how they came to be. Same with the Brotherhood. In this show, they are assholes but in the games you actually get to meet some of them and understand them a bit better. What’s missing is a bit of nuance. Also with the ending of season one they are now entering territory of one of the most beloved games in the franchise (Fallout New Vegas) and oh lord… I’m afraid what they are going to do with New Vegas to be honest..

Little is known about Vault 43, but we know that it had about 30 people and a live panther! The experiments seemed to be "can 30 people survive a big cat in a small location". It's so messed up! But I really feel for Lucy this episode, how much world-changing info can you take in one day! 😢
