Daemon gonna be Daemon and go a bit rogue now. Probably gonna go claim Harrenhal as he was talking about this episode and the last since he wants to act and is a bit angry at Rhaenyra now.
He’s sort of necessary to win the war for Rhaenyra since he is her strongest chess piece but he’s also rebellious and not trustworthy so Rhaenyra really has it hard with him. Still without him she might as well give up the war immediately.

Completely agree Jweher this show definitely whitewashes and ignores the black side deeds or doesn’t even include many of them while overly villanizing the greens.

Daeron has the best of all the dragons imo. The Blue Queen, Tessarion. Bright blue dragon with bright blue flames. She’s like Azula in dragon form lol

They’ve done a bad job imo. Like for example in this episode they’ve framed Mysaria as a victim for her house burning down, but it’s not because of prejudice that it was done. It was because she has an entire spy network in the red keep spying on Alicent and her family. She practically kidnapped Aegon in S1. Her connections to the ratcatcher lead to the death of Jaehaerys. It makes sense for the greens to destroy her spy network and protect themselves, but the show presents it as an act of violence against a whistleblower for the smallfolk, when in fact she herself uses the smallfolk for disgusting deeds (like pimping out young girls to her brothel in S1, while condemning the child fighting pits at the same time). This is the same woman who offered Daemon maidens to deflower in S1 btw, and while yes she’s put in a position where she has to do horrible things to survive, it’s interesting that the greens are condemned for destroying a spy network that harms them in the middle of a political crisis that could lead to war. Not to mention they had Rhaenyra offer her freedom, despite Rhaenyra thinking she’s still dangerous. She’s being framed in the most positive light, to the extent that she’s willing to free a dangerous person to her, while the greens making moves against spies in their own castle is framed in the worst light possible. It’s definitely very one-sided.
Edit: that being said, i wouldn’t want the greens to change. Their moral greyness is what’s interesting about them! But bad deeds done by team black are whitewashed and ignored by the narrative.
For example Rhaenys not being condemned by the narrative for attacking the smallfolk, despite there being a focus on how the smallfolk are affected in S2 lol. Like okay i guess everyone forgot about that or it’s only bad when Aegon does it? It’s such a disservice to the team black characters to whitewash them like this, they feel less real. And it becomes harder to take theses themes seriously.

For Rhaenys i think its funny that they've been trying to make her such a good person because for that to work you have to forget the scene where she kills hundreds of civilians to show off.

i think the whole generational trauma aspect of the greens does make them more interesting.
alicent trapped between her love for rhaenyra vs love for her kids vs repressed frustration at a system that has taken her agency makes her especially compelling

The problem is that both Rhaenyra and Rhaenys have been made into very passive, goody-goody characters, when in the books they were both like Daemon. Hell, even Baela is said to be like Daemon. But the show has diluted team Black while keeping the Greens similar to the books. So it's not hard for most people to pick a side.

They did a subreddit poll and it was like 70-80% 'Team Black'. I don't think they've done a good job balancing the sides but that's not the point of the show, it's just a marketing framework.

I have mainly seen hate for the greens online but maybe its just me. I do agree though that the greens have a lot more interesting characters than the black.

i love the cargyll twins representing the divide in the targaryen family too. brother against brother, one can't die without the other. aegon and rhaenyra must destroy themselves to destroy each other. i love doomed siblings.

I think the Greens are generally more compelling characters, Daemon notwithstanding. Alicent, Otto, Aegon, Aemond, and even Cristin, are more *interesting* than Rhaenyra, Jace, etc.
Probably because the show has found room for them to be wrong (and outright evil!) on occasion.

Surprise! Viserys & Alicent have another son!
(It has been very confusing for book readers that they hadn't mentioned him yet.)

I've seen a lot of support for the greens online, so I think they succeeded in making people sympathize with them, specially Alicent. I also seen a lot of people hating on Daemon, so I'd say it's pretty even? For me personally, the only character I hate is Cole, but the show isn't really trying to make him likeable so hating him is kinda the consensus. I can't bring myself to hate Otto tho, he was the living embodiment of "I'm surrounded by fucking morons" in this episode and it was hilarious to see

It creates more buzz and conversation around the show but you're right, the greens aren't likeable. Most of their fans are people who feel sorry for them/can sympathize with some of the unfair things that happen to them early on. I think the majority of team green support comes from pity and/or apathy + resenting the blacks. In the source material the greens are inarguably the bad side so they've definitely done the best they can with what they had to work with. If they hadn't made those alicent changes in season one then NO ONE would be rooting for them now. Aside from Aemond fans 😂

Question for everyone. The show's marketing is about choosing a side between the blacks and the greens but do you feel like they've done a good job of making you like both sides? Because Rhaenyra is as good as she can be and most of the blacks are also like her but the greens are for the most part just awful. I still like the greens characters but the people on rhaenyra's side are just way more likeable.

Yeah Viserys and Alicent had 3 sons, the other being Daeron Targaryen. Apparently he seems to be even more excluded than the others

that scene of aemond at the brothel was one of the creepiest things i've witnessed, and that's bold to say when in the last episode they decapitated a child
