Actually in one of the first comments in this poll someone asked about JJK and they said “on the longer anime poll”. It’s fair for it to be included and if it wins - great for us, fans. I know many people have been waiting for these two, as many of us have waited for JJK, but the majority matters. I’d like for it to be on shorter anime polls, but that’s what I’ve read them say. I think it’d be a good compromise for JJK to be on the shorter anime poll so that many can get their Haikyuu/Monster (which I personally don’t really want to watch) and we can get JJK. I’ve been their subscriber only for AoT, I’ll be honest, and I’m waiting for JJK to sub again here, as I think they’ll provide more interesting takes on it than most reactors.

It absolutely doesn’t lack meaningful characters. The plot is so far from standard shounen and it’s so popular for a reason. I’m honestly surprised to see such a wrong take and I only see similar takes from people commenting here. It’s honestly discouraging to see people talk like they can predict their reactions or that they know them so well, downplaying a great series in a way that’s not really fair nor true, and not giving them the chance to try it out. If you’ve watched their AoT reactions, you will know why they would most definitely enjoy JJK

Monster and Haikyuu have around 80 episodes each, JJK has a total of 49+a movie, which will take less than a year to finish, the other will take so much more (if we go one ep per week). Yea it's an amazing show, but the only chance for Run With the Wind to be reacted to is off the back of Haikyuu I feel like. If they love Haikyuu I imagine they'll get a good amount of comments of "well since you loved this I think you'll love Run With the Wind too"

I know Banana Fish is probably never going to win these, but seeing it on the poll in the first place honestly makes me really happy it's on their radar. Very fitting it first pops up on pride month considering the gay of it all. The character writing in that show is so good and I know they'll love it, but Frieren is also spectacular so happy with this result either way.

@gabriel barott well you're right about that point, watched the first 4 eps but couldn't make it past them due to a certain directorial choice, then couple of random eps with bros, might check manga one day. frieren is a good anime, and it does have all things as you said, madhouse at the top of their game production wise, exceptionally radiant colors, creative stylized op and ed, intresting shots and animation bits, big fan of evan call since violet evergarden's ost and again, he delivered, beautiful evocative medieval ost. worldbuilding's your average isekai fantasy setting, it showed the heroes journey affect on the world well enough I thought, and there were small details giving it a lil personality, not enough to stand out though. on originality last thing it's all there in the title, the anime begins after the journey ends which is pretty unique, its also kinda similar to bebop in that regard, how the casts stories are already behind them, and all we get is how they're trying to move on from the past, similarly, only shown through brief flashbacks. not to mention frieren's writing keeps consistently subverting expectations, the dessert thugs one small example that comes to mind, but there're bigger things with the character directions. so yeah, it delivers, but I still think bebop outclasses in most aspects respectfully, its as perfect as anime could get.

@refo44 The first few episodes are so interesting to me، it builds up everything. it reveals those philosophical scientific ideas that some come into action in the later half. when I played the vn elite, i got immediately captivated، its much more detailed (i played it before watching the anime,) , I liked how it included in depth explanation about the theories and memes in the menu. now that im trying to remember them, I realized the "cat in a box theory" kinda applies in the last stretch of the show ! this makes the ending more satisfying! and i am a mad scientist for that ! HOUouin kyouma is proud of me ! merging reality and fiction as @sunshine said، it's ambitious, creative, fostering discussions among fans. makes you think about our universe and engage more in researching those science concepts/theories. when i tell you, I entered a new phase in my life researching those things,,,,, space science became my personality for a time 😂 unfortunately i think daru tendencies are humour for a portion of fans maybe? for me? I agree it's disturbing, it should be for everyone. he can go to hell 😂 I dont care about that side of him. ( i dont wanna say potential spoilers) the good thing it happens less as the show goes.

I agree it's a great recommendation. It has a complex storytelling. Awesome Characters. For me it's one of the best scifi animes of all times, even if it's hard to grasp the first episodes. It also delves on an interesting way with complex philosophical and scientific theories and concepts. The way the author research the John Titor incident is awesome. But on the other way, some people also argue there are several disturbing and unjustified issues about Daru behavior as a character. What is your opinion about that?

Best democracy ever aghh that’s a hard one. I mean all of them had so many flaws and even modern ones no matter the system aren’t perfect. I believe depending on the culture a democracy will be stronger or weaker. But aside from Ancient Greece I think 18 hundreds UK is a great choice since they were much earlier on installing a parliamentarian democratic system way back in the 17 century. The UK had the richest population and was the most liberal country with a lot of individual freedoms before most other European countries embraced these ideas. Modern UK tho I don’t like and the first past the post 2 party system I despise. In modern era I think the Nordic countries all have the most stable democracies. The meeting episode was GOATED because of the extremely interesting discussion they had about political system and being in a basically verbal debate was very entertaining and both sides had good points.

I watched both sub and dub depending on the episode😂 I liked the dub but there’s a lot of reading text messages that don’t get translated on screen in the dub, so that made me switch to sub to see what messages were sent/received. Both sub/dub were really good

Now that it seems inevitable Frieren has won, about the first episodes - So obviously as has been said, the show debuted by showing the first four episodes back to back on the same night, as people who have watched it know the reason being that episode 4 cuts off right as the real premise of the show is presented. In a perfect world, the first four episodes are meant to be watched at once, and of course it’d be the ideal way for it to be reacted to. That being said, it doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that L+M would do / necessarily be able to do given how they record. So I would like to suggest that if as expected it’s not possible to react to all 4 - that you at least react to the first 2 episodes. This being because Episode 1 doesn’t resolve and directly dovetails into the second episode, which finishes much more cleaner and completely.

@lauraa its sorta like fma 2003 and fmab situation, the originals are superior in the direction, music, atmosphere, overall emotional delivery, seriously try watching hatori and kyo's backstories in both versions and you'll see what I mean, not to mention the freaking comedy man, 2001's elevated what it adapted from the manga ten times. they could watch it up till the last fillery episodes then continue with the new one.

Also the 2019 version is loyal to the manga, meanwhile 2001 version changes a lot of things. 2001 version skips a lot and has a lot of gaps in between, dilutes the story. Moreover 2019 version takes a lot of the darker tone that makes the manga so popular.

Nana is great. The humor was that FMAB humor where you can't help but laugh. It's just a shame that the anime just stops. But as far as I know, the arc after that in the manga wasn't as funny and rather sad and the following arc ends in the middle of it, which makes the story feel very unfinished.

In the visual novel for Steins;Gate, they go into great depth and details on some the real life theoretical concepts in physics such as using Kerr black holes for time travel (20-30 minutes of explanation). It’s presented in a way where it doesn’t feel like listening to a lecture in physics course, but rather is presented to more of a general audience (you won’t have to know any Calculus).

vegetable you have to also consider that steins;gate is quite dated and is absolutely a slow burner hence why some people might not find the appeal in the weekly updates of the earlier half of the show. That anime was my top anime for the longest time until I revisited it more recently and the beginning is actually such a drag.

that I did my dude lol a lil get back at ya for slandering my show like that, though I'd have to say, urasawa and abe, understimated you a bit. now I get your point better, and I also get how opposite we are in what we value. urasawa and abe might be the better writers when it comes to the storytelling, that I can attest to, also, johan by himself clears the cast of steins;gate writing wise if I'm being honest. abe while I enjoy his stories, recently watched half of texhnolyze and the little bit we see of the character writing is unique and well-thought out, but is too underutilized, the mc barely utters a couple of words or does anything really, yoshi was a lil interesting I'll have to say, but they're all dreadfully boring, they dont feel human or realistic, their interactions are downright awful, foxgirl be staring at mc for a couple of eps and surprise, they're homies and I'm supposed to care? of course I cant. you see, if it doesn't make care, that's a big writing minus, how are you supposed to enjoy it? that's exactly where steins;gate excels, and why I'd put it over monster and texhnolyze anyday, it does that in spades through fleshing the characters and the dynamics to their smallest details, and don't get me started on the emotional depth, which is very rarely matched in all of anime, thats why SG cast over monster's and texhnolyze's any day despite the latters' skill. nah the story is great, with the exception of a couple of rushed plot points, I'll take it any day over texhnolyze cast of unbearable zombies.

I disagree. The issue I have with JJK it's even if it has some interesting characters it lacks meaningful characters growth they don't have any meaningful development arch unless they are killed. The plot is a predictable standard shonen plot and is too centered on the action. They spent too much time in fight scenes unnecessary to the plot and LM aren't usually interested on that. Maybe it's great for people more interested on animation or action scenes but LM will not really enjoy it. If they eventually watch it will be just for the viewers. But it will not be one of their best reactions.

The fact that you think Urasawa is an exceptional writer tells me everything I need to know. Monster has the most clunky dialogue and plot contrivance-ridden narrative of any show with a very positive consensus. It is THE litmus test for smoking out pseudo intellectual snobs. Okabe alone puts the entire cast of that drivel to shame. Urasawa characters aren’t real or organic individuals, they’re mouthpieces of whatever hamfisted theme he’s chosen to convey. Sounds more like you’re bitter that you couldn’t comprehend how tightly written internally consistent S;G’s physics are.

tiktok spoiled brat spotted! but I'll be nice and indulge you anyway. characters are stale? okabe himself is one of the craziest, funniest, most entertaining characters ever, not a dull moment around him. garbage pacing? its purposefully slowburn at the start so you could have time to become emotionally attached to the characters so that the emotions hit a million times more, ever heard of setting up build up for bigger payoffs? chimera ant arc? the physics are so well-researched and thoroughly explained, the anime cut most of it out for general audiences, the vn goes a lot more in depth, most popular sci-fi anime dont even invest this much. anyone raving about it is a gigachad ✌️

I like Steins Gate and Cowboy Bebop and also wanted to watch both. But I disagree with your opinion. But in my opinion I think Frieren is the type of show they will enjoy more right now. Because they already loved Violet Evergarden and Frieren it's a similar show but with a more wholesome and less tragic vibe, they even share the same OST composer. It's a show focused on life lesson and the growth of the characters and their psychology. It's interesting because Frieren shares several similarties to Cowboy Bebop because both show are about how the characters deal with the nostalgia for the past but the two show has different perspectives about that. Cowboy Bebop it's more pessimistic and nihilistic. Frieren it's more about how to value your present. Both shows has interesting strong female characters like Frieren or Faye. They both also has awesome OST. I agree Cowboy Bebop it's a masterpiece and a must to watch. I didn't mention Steins:Gate because it's really a very different show but I also think it's an awesome recommendation for LM. Even so they will enjoy more Frieren because it's more wholesome in a similar way they already enjoyed RoK. And it's not because it's a more recent show. Right now Frieren has replaced FMA in the first place of the top anime for My Anime List for some reason, it has already deserved his place to be considered as a modern masterpiece.

I would also have been more in favor of a short anime with 14 episodes or less (Odd Taxi, A Place Further Than The Universe). What's more, if we throw every anime with more than 20 episodes but less than 30 episodes into the long anime slot, it will be completely overloaded.

Yeah on your part on autocracy the thing is that in a way the ideal autocracy is better than any kind of flawed or not flawed democracy because you’ll have a competent ruler that betters the nation who lost forever until his death and his heir will by assumption have the best education and training to carry on the legacy. But in reality a good or bad ruler is like a coin toss and it’s not worth the risk of having a horrible ruler for an eternity like Putin, Hitler, Stalin and many other rulers. Still LOGH as well as many historical examples prove that autocratic rulers can be competent and well liked but is the risk worthy it? With a democracy any bad rulers can always be voted out but again that comes down to the people and if you know history you know people are often stupid and make dumb decisions. We aren’t always rational after all or are easily convinced by promises. Still there are strong and working democracies (like the nordics) and then there are examples like America, Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Turkey and so on. Corrupt or inefficient democracies with weak institutions. So here correct back the question what is better a democracy or autocracy and I find both arguments have many pros and cons. This is why episode 56 or 57 when they discuss political system is my fav.

Reading about it and the reviews, it sounds interesting to me as it's not geared towards a younger audience, which most anime is. I love Frieren sm it has all the makings of a modern classic. That said, I do agree that newer and much older shows should be on different polls. That way older shows get an actual chance and newer shows aren’t getting bashed just because they’re up against people’s long time favorites. Also if Frieren wins, please consider watching episodes 1-4 together since that was how the anime was released with those episodes serving as one prologue.

Can totally relate to your comment. Also yeah since we are deep history buffs and like politics too we had a lot of interesting discussions throughout the 0,5-1 year we watched it lol. Comparisons to the Roman republic and empire, modern America, what is truly the best form of political system and government (we are Swedish and have a constitutional monarchy here which works well), what side is more righteous?, is autocracy inherently bad and worse than democracy (what differs Reinhard from the rest of the empire)?, why is the democracy in LOGH like it is?, drawbacks to napoleonic tactics since Napoleonic wars and Napoleon as well as King Charles XII of Sweden are both mentioned in the series, Why certain characters do unreasonable things that from our perspective isn’t logical, religion and state, are certain characters really evil or good or something else (Oberstein and his Machiavellinism is a great example but so are all the rest), what probably happened after the end, the flaws of both sides and I could go on lol. You get the point. Had such fun late night discussions the nostalgia I have for that show is truly deep. Also our fav character is Reiner but that isn’t an easy choice to choose lol.

oh no I didn't mean I started it then, must have over a month till I finished it. yeah it striked me as the type of show that can be elevated so much on rewatche, def one of the densest anime I've ever watched, had to pause so many times ngl, but absolutely amazing quotes and dialogue. yeah exactly! Some weeks ago? It’s a 110 episodes bro no way you finished that in a week. Also same even tho I finished it a month or two ago I am still emotional and nostalgic over it. Definitely gonna rewatch it within the not distant future I can definitely notice things I missed. Watched it with a friend of mine who is a history teacher and we are both political and history buffs (like philosophy too cus it’s part of history) so this show was perfect and you don’t even need to be a history buff to enjoy it or understand it. We also study a lot of military history so that made it even better lol. He has already watched it like 3 times at least but he rewatched it with me and we had long discussions during each session about different things in the show. So nostalgic truly a show that ages like wine. Cried so much at the end.

Steins;Gate always loses in these polls for any reaction channel, but I'm hoping that the upcoming thematic sequel will bring renewed interest into the series. Of course, we'll have to wait 2-3 years for an anime adaptation if the sequel is going to be released as a visual novel first.

Don’t give me false hope just don’t. I’ve been heartbroken too many times. 😭 For real tho everywhere you look it’s a show with 9-10/10 score and it has got that for a reason as you understand when watching it. But sadly since it’s an older show from the 90s it never really became widely known so sadly it has a small fan base who have watched it. I only started watching it last autumn and finished it 1-2 months ago because a friend who likes similar things to me but is older recommended it to me so he rewatched every episode with me and we discussed it. Easily best show of my life and I never thought I would say that before watching it. I’ve seen a lot of shows as well so I don’t say that lightly.

Shivering King Banana, I'm glad that you had that impression. Overall I liked the episodic structure of the anime, and maybe in some way it's a product of its time, but for me it just can't replace a bigger storyline and character relationships developed over tens of episodes. Like for example - the final arc of Cowboy Bebop was peak, but it would be even better if we spent more time with those characters and getting to know some of them more.

I'm quite happy that the anime are getting shorter. Many anime, even those of the battle shonen genre, rarely get over 100, let alone 200 episodes. Naruto could also be told in 200 episodes if you cut out the filler, didn't show a flashback for the twentieth time and generally told some things a bit faster. One Piece is the worst candidate of the old shonen anime due to its weekly release. The fact that an anime episode only adapts half a manga chapter without bringing anything new, while you could theoretically adapt 3 to 5, just shows once again how unnecessarily stretched One Piece is. The remake, which will soon run in parallel (a remake that is released before the predecessor is even finished is also something completely absurd), will fortunately rectify this problem.

I know Lola and Milena won’t see this but I’ll keep posting and hope they do one time because this show is another one that’s extremely extremely underrated on a level most people don’t understand. Hope you consider it for the long show polls one day. One day I’ll bribe or keep praying that Lola and Milena will try out and react to one of the highest ranked anime of all time on AOT or even higher level. That show is Legend of the Galactic heroes but it’s old and very few have seen it but it’s got a disgustingly high ranking for a reason I would hope it gets more love one day. Until then I hope it will be a choice people pick eventually. Without spoiling it’s a show like Star Wars, game of thrones and Star Trek with politics, philosophy and history mix and amazing characters. Please consider this show at least cus I know you would like it. (Also there’s 2 movies made to watch/react to before you start the main show)

After Cyberpunk, they made a decision and simply decided that they wanted to see Violet Evergarden and Ranking of Kings. In retrospect, I liked it because it gave me a reason to finish watching the anime (I had stopped at episode 8, just didn't have time and then didn't start again) and I was able to fall in love with the characters.

@vegetable I watched Bebop and I'm sure they would like it, but IMO it's worse choice than Frieren for this channel specifically. What they love the most in shows is the characters, and (minor COWBOY BEBOP SPOILERS next) in CB main character and villain barely get explored, the relationships between some characters just do not hit (as they are not well developed in my opinion). Btw I know that's the whole point - this anime overall is more style over substance, but we also know what the girls would prefer for sure.

nope, this has never happened, so not a trend. The trend is skyrocketing with the first episodes (happened with oshi no ko and with fruits basket and more) but FMAB would always retake the spot. Theres a reason frieren has mantained such a better score than the rest of them for so long; and its not because of a trend.

You're right about that. That was the case with Oshi No Ko because of the damn good first episode, but while the anime was still running, and especially the three months after that, the anime kept dropping because the following episodes just weren't as good as the first. With Frieren, on the other hand, it's been three months since the last episode and it's still holding up. In a year's time it might be between FMAB and Steins Gate, but it will certainly remain in the top 3.

28 Episodes = 28 Weeks = 7 Months. So we will get January/February 2025 a new chance. Frieren simply delivered too well with its first season, dethroning even Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. No chance against it. The fact that it's still 0.26 points above FMAB with 9.09 is unbelievable. For comparison: 18 other anime are ranked between 8.83 and 9.09 (another 0.26 points).

Banana Fish and Odd Taxi are both in the crime genre, although Banana Fish is a little more serious and also uses the more real scenario. Odd Taxi goes the Zootopia route, replacing people with animals, has a very slow and quiet start, an interesting narrative perspective and is sometimes a bit funny because we have animals instead of people. A chubby walrus can make you laugh more easily just with walking around.

I'd love to see a Stein's gate dub reaction. If you are ever planning to do one again this is a good one. It has fantastic voice acting and direction and helps in making a reference-heavy show a lot more understandable for western audiences. It's also a show you need to pay close attention to or you might get lost, so removing the language barrier helps a lot.
