Funny thing is, I think if JJK went a little lighter on the battles it would be a much better story. I think what you said is true for demon slayer but not JJK. JJK shines outside the battles, which end up taking over the show (and I am also up to date on the manga).

It's because it's characterisation is more subtle like how for example Bleach is if you've read the manga for it. It's very battle shonen in the sense that it does it's heavy lifting world building and characterisation A LOT through the power system and fights. I feel like everyone has come full circle with Jujutsu Kaisen, from overrating it a few years ago to underrating it now. I mean, it's not exactly AoT but it's also not as shallow as Demon slayer. It's a fun anime with some great characters and relationships.

I was excited for this reaction but somehow it surpassed all expectations ahaha, it’s like all the running jokes of what the girls wanted to see happened: Melody, Leorio, Kurapika, and Ging getting exactly what he deserves! The old faces reappearing is always a joy but man, Leorio punching Ging is one of those moments I’ll think about first when I think of HXH, easily one of the best in the whole show. Why do people keep talking about genuine reactions...we want their genuine reactions for all the big episodes lol. It's not like people were saying exactly what 116 or 131, or 135 was. People just mentioned them more because they were more excited for those episodes and the ant arc in general. Bringing back characters is fun but very fanservice-y. The show already didn't paint Ging in a positive light when he literally said he was a bad person and didn't want to see Gon when he left the recording, it's not established in this episode. Like I said, I think it's good but still relatively mid compared to the best ones.

its not a mid episode at all... it's literally one of the best of the show. from them bringing back characters like Canary, Melody, Leorio and Kurapika to addressing big questions that most viewers had like why Ging never visited Gon. That series is all about connection, taking care of yourself, and being better than the you of yesterday. They’re not that alike, I was trying to relate it to something they know. Death note was a little corny at times but monster is 100% serious and has a lot of deeper/darker tones and themes. The antagonist is regarded as one of the best in anime by a lot of people. The female characters are pretty okay for a 2000’s anime. They are sexualized sometimes but in the context of the show, not fan service like Misa. The main female character is cool asf. The other is portrayed as a “bratty gold digger” but she gets her own meaningful story.

This is actually the most unhinged positive reaction you've ever done and I enjoyed it IMMENSELY. I always knew Lola would love the punch because of comments she'd made over the series but the highs and lows of your reactions to CAMEOS and the utter disbelief at the end really made this an all time favourite for me. Oh my god this reaction was everything I was hoping it would be hahaha, the number of times I went from laughing to crying with you both was ridiculous. Your sheer disbelief that the show was giving us a Leorio vs Ging suckerpunch had me in stitches. The reason no-one spoiled you imo is because this episode is very self contained unlike 125-6. 130-1 and 134-5, but personally I always prefer it when you have zero expectations going in so we get corkers like this. Echoing what you both said about it but what I truly love about Togashi's writing is he doesn't excuse Ging in the slightest. He makes it abundantly clear that all the suffering Gon has gone through to try and find him was not justified through some "greater purpose". Plus the cheering of the crowd after he gets hit is almost as cathartic to me as the punch itself. Perfect episode, perfect reaction. Thank you so SO much for loving this show and these boys as much as you do <3

The Leorio punching Ging moment is also pretty consistently one of the most exciting reactions from just about any react channel. It was a good episode but honestly no one really hyped up this episode before hand because it is relatively mid compared to the show's peak episodes. The super attachment to kurapika is pretty unique to this channel (I mean he's an okay character and we really don't see much of him) and the leorio punching ging moment was great, but the affects of the catharsis can greatly vary depending on if you were really attached to the situation or if you thought the buildup or throughline was good or not. For a lot of people, fans or other reactors, it seems to be more of a justified hype moment (the show makes no secret that ging is a terrible father) than an emotional catharsis (the throughline isn't really fleshed out, just broadly exists). Also small correction, bisky doesn't know ging personally, she just heard from netero that he's one of the strongest nen users and she knows him by reputation.

Been waiting for this reaction for so long and god I've never laughed so hard. The pure shock, the hysterical laughter and nonstop crying was just so RELATABLE.
