As a huge fan of sports anime over the years I'd say in terms of the main stream popular ones sure you could make an argument although Hajime No Ippo I believe still takes the cake but there's quite a few under the radar ones that are way more interesting than Haikyuu they just don't have the length to compare unfortunately, just going from crunchyroll some are: Stars Align, Run with the Wind, Megalobox. Edit: I will say though in terms of strictly "team" progression Haikyuu probably is the clear winner only other one I can think of off the top of my head is Giant Killing but again it unfortunately only has 1 season. A lot of the other ones I mentioned are kinda more individually focused and therefore more compelling in terms of a story narrative imo.

One day I’ll bribe or keep praying that Lola and Milena will try out and react to one of the highest ranked anime of all time on AOT or even higher level. That show is Legend of the Galactic heroes but it’s old and very few have seen it but it’s got a disgustingly high ranking for a reason I would hope it gets more love one day. Until then I hope it will be a choice people pick eventually. Without spoiling it’s a show like Star Wars, game of thrones and Star Trek with politics, philosophy and history mix and amazing characters.

Please just put haikyuu and monster in the poll they're the perfect shows for you. I really don't think you'll like code Geass. As much as I love haikyuu, I really hope monster will be next to change a bit and to have an adult protagonist for once but I don't think it will win. So I'm really hoping for Pluto after rok, it's a Naoki Urasawa's manga ( the author of monster) and it will be the perfect opportunity for you to discover his amazing storytelling. Plus, Pluto is very short it's only 8 episodes so please have it in mind!

This is one of the most underrated episodes in HxH bc it gets obscured by the rest of the amazing things happening in this arc. Considering the themes of friendship trust and bravery, the dichotomy between welfin and ikalgo is beautifully written

Welfin and Ikalgo My Boys Also Haikyuu and Monster are 2 of the most LM reactions type shows in existence and I sincerly hope its just a poll between these 2. I can live with either winning and I will enjoy the heck out of whoever wins out of these 2 so much. I feel like some folks have not seen their Death Note reactions or at all listened to them over the years, If you're actually recommending Code Geass to them. They will despise some of the weird/random Fanservice in that show and its not on the level of Haikyuu and Monster for the type of reactions/discussions they do. Same goes for Demon Slayer, which has little to no fanservice I think, but there are so many other shows that are soooo much better suited for what they look for in characters/story etc. Haikyuu/Monster replacing HH and Frieren replacing Ranking of Kings sounds like a dream outcome

Haikyuu is awesome. I watched it last year and was captivated. It's one of the greatest sports anime of all time, or at least in the top 3. It's an excellent show even for people who don't care much for volleyball or sports in general and teaches about camaraderie and the spirit of sports teams. It makes you care and become involved with its awesome characters, even the rivals. Even minor characters have their chance to shine and grow eventually. It's just pretty good. Monster is one of the best seinen anime of all time. It's a masterpiece but it's not an easy anime to watch, with great and complex storytelling and characters. It's almost a philosophical and moral treatise on the human condition and the meaning of evil, but also about hope. It explores the duality of the human condition: how some people are capable of committing the most awful atrocities, yet there are also those who perform the most wholesome and selfless acts of goodwill even if life is not fair, and even if the results are not what was anticipated. Kenzo Tenma, one of the main characters, even with his flaws and errors, It's perhaps one of the most decent human beings from fiction.

I'm actually worried that if you put Code Geass in the poll, it's very likely to win. And I just don't think it's the show for you, for there's too much fan service and I honestly feel that the only thing worth complimenting about Code Geass's story is its ending. If surprisingly it turns out that you actually like Code Geass after watching it, I'd rather you see Kill La Kill, of which the only flaw is its fan service and other than that it is a rarely-seen marvelous shounen-style anime with female protagonists.

I think you guys should watch "Monster". Ultimately I think Haikyuu and Monster will be what the options are boiled down to. And, I think Haikyuu will win. Watch their most recent Q&A video. The show has not aged well in their memory. As for their similarities—we know what they are, and they’re superficial. A few shared plot beats does not “similarity” make. The storytelling styles and thematic trajectories of the two are totally distinct.
