Any update about fixing episode 1? I missed it before it was blocked & wanted to watch it before watching episodes 2 & 3 from you

It was the episode that made me realize that the plot was going to be pretty huge. In the first two episodes, everything still seemed relatively simple, but this episode had me spinning theories. So much intrigue, so many multi-faceted characters. I found it particularly interesting that the prince's "evil" stepmother actually has good intentions and probably just wants to protect Bojji. I'm looking forward to your reactions. I can still highly recommend a few mini-stories from The Treasure Chest of Courage (stories in the manga that were not adapted into the anime and were published later). They filled in a lot of gaps for me.
- Episode 1 - 8
- TCC 8
- Episode 9 - 17
- TCC 7.1, 4, 5.1
- Episode 18 - 23
- TCC 10
The only problem is that the opening of The Treasure Chest of Courage spoils the end of the story, both with subtitles and with its images. And especially for the part between episodes 17 and 18 there is the problem that for episodes 7 and 5 only the first mini-story should be watched, but the following one is a mini-story that takes place after the end and thus spoils everything.
To avoid the problem, I quickly cut Episode 8.5 (TCC 8) and Episode 17.5 (TCC 7.1, 4, 5.1) myself and replaced the opening and ending with the ones from the anime. TCC 10 should only be watched after episode 23, so I didn't bother here.

Everyone hates Hiling at first and then you see her almost jump out a window head first to save Bojji and it all changes

I like Hiling's complexity and your reactions to her from ep 1 were very natural and understandable but also very rigid. We're used to characters being assigned traits from the get go in anime and this show does a good job of showing that characters can be one thing but can also be another thing because they're human and do things and decide things based on their many experiences.

Hilling is one of my favorite characters here because to me she’s very human. She has this horrible, toxic trait, that came out when her second son was born. I don’t think she realized how cruel she was until she saw Bojji break down in front of her. I’m not excusing her behavior at all, but just to me she seems almost like a realistic character. Her horrible treatment of Bojji co-exists with her obvious selfless love of him. She would not have jumped out of that window for him if she didn’t have such a strong love for him either.
Also, not sure if you’ve read this but Daida is voiced by Eren Yeager

First, I want to mention that the "magic" mirror is obviously inspired by the Snow White fairy tale.
Queen Hiling is an excellent subversion of the "evil" stepmother trope found in fairy tales like Snow White or Cinderella. Additionally, note the amusing wordplay involving her name and abilities. She embodies the "tsundere" personality, an anime stereotype about a character who displays a harsh exterior just to avoid revealing their true feelings. In my view, her behavior towards Bojji is also due to being toxically overprotective, but I don't deny she was also cruel to him ; she sees Bojji as a helpless child unable to fend for himself and treats Daida as a "normal" child.

Hiling actually caring for Bojji to the point of jumping out a window after him, was a great subversion of her character which the show painted as a potential villain in preview episodes. Your reaction to her was priceless!
Also, Deirdre's name is Domas 😅
