casually playing another brick in the wall… we will give you a poll this week for the next short non anime show, we have some ideas but feel free to recommend show

The Fall of The House of Usher Episode 8 Reaction

Comments

Ops, I didn't see the "short" part XD

Sweet Owl

Outlander is not a short show haha

My Toasty Toast

I hope One Piece Live Action is on the poll!!! 🥹

Joaquín Calderón

Severance and Chernobyl. I haven't seen Chenobyl yet so this would give me the perfect push to watch it.

Camzeee

Ooh! Good pick , Mare would be so fun for them, it was a great show.

Taylor Gardner

Silo is so intriguing

Harfie

Serious primetime stuff isn't normally up my alley and still I found it very gripping. Definitely worth a watch, maybe with the girls if they succumb to community pressure :p

Ninaly

is it good? I haven't watched it either

Yū Nishinoya

Bad Sisters: Irish, sisters, death, comedy, drama The Silo: Mystery box show + post apocalyptic <- I know you guys like this genre and I think this show does it well Slow Horses: More ‘realistic’ Spy Thriller, Comedy/Drama, stars Gary Oldman=win Everyone’s mentioning Severance but all these shows are great on Apple TV

Olid

Chernobyl, Outlander

Sweet Owl

Some people already suggested this but i do it again: Fargo Season 1. (Fargo has season based stories so its ok to see single seasons). It has some actors you will really like^^

Dieter Mai

Chernobyl

Melkor

I really hope severance is on the poll!! Season 2 is being teased by the cast and crew I think it’s time to tune in!!

jweher

Can I suggest Fargo? I know it has multiple seasons but it's really an anthology and you could easily watch season 1 as a standalone and come back for S2 when you have time. It's truly a top level show and I think you would love it.

Max Carter

If by short you mean only the one season? Then Chernobyl would be my recommendation

Razzer95

The Korean show Death Game was recently released. It is a great show with 8 episodes and has an IMDB rating of 9. The story is completed in these 8 episodes.

Robert H.

Gen V (The Boys spinoff) Severance

Anthonyd9

One more suggestion: Severance: A brilliant psychological thriller / Mystery series. I'm sure you will love the fun characters and the mystery elements will keep you glued to the screen. All the while the show offers an unique critique of late stage capitalism and its alienation of workers.

Jesse

I would like to suggest the following shows: Season 1 of True Detective: This is quite possibly the best single season TV show I’ve ever seen. Rust Cohle is one of my favourite characters ever written and Matthew McConaughey’s performance is out of this world. The season is a self-contained story and it’s only 8 episodes. Chernobyl: 5 episode mini-series by the show runner of The Last of Us. A Powerful telling of the worst man-made accident in history. Highly recommend. Andor: A Star Wars show that you don’t need any previous Star Wars knowledge for to watch. It’s an excellent story about the danger of fascism and what it takes for a man to become a rebel/freedom fighter.

Jesse

Chernobyl would also be a very good show to watch. Even shorter which mean you would end it even closer to the Avatar Last Airbender show release.

MaxVSTheGames

Strongly recommend One Piece. It's right up your alley since you also like anime. It's still in the zeitgeist meaning that it will probably bring you more new patrons. It's pretty short with only 8 episodes which would also let you end it shortly after the Avatar Last Airbender show starts airing.

MaxVSTheGames

Actually, I saw someone earlier say Andor. It's a great show and you don't need to know anything about Star Wars to understand it

Legion

Wait if you haven't watched Chernobyl --!!

Ninaly

Yesss, Beef is so good! It would make for really interesting discussions.

Kaitlyn

Please watch The Boys spinoff Gen V. It's only 8 episodes and directly ties into season 4. By the time you finish it, you'll be ready to start The Last Airbender live-action series.

Gangster Pikachu

Netflix Kingdom. Two 6-episode seasons and a prequel movie that should be watched after the two seasons

Legion

Gen V

Daiga54

yellowjackets plsss

Amber

Yes you are right. I didn't realized they haven't watched Chernobyl

refo44

'Watched' covers both those criteria, the implication being that it would be unsuitable for them to do a reaction if they've already partially watched it. As for Euphoria, they've explicitly stated that it is never going to be watched by them due to its nature.

TeaDrinker3000

That's a good call, waiting for season 2 has been excruciating.

Nina

Thanks for this. Can you explain a couple of entries here? Does "watched" mean they watched it to completion or does it also include having watched some of it? For example, The Good Place lists that both of them have watched but also that Lola "plans to continue". Also out of pure curiosity, have they given a reason they refuse to watch Euphoria? I haven't seen it either, I'm just wondering. Most of the other refusals make sense with their tastes, mainly superhero/star wars type stuff.

Nina

Andor has some great characters and excellent writing, and like you said you don’t need to know really anything about the other Star Wars media to understand it. That being said, I’m not sure if it’s worth getting into a show where the main characters are just a stop gap for the “true” main character

My Toasty Toast

I would recommend “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”

My Toasty Toast

100% agree on all points, the only problem with starting with season 1 is that they will be hooked and want to watch season 2 as well! It’s a great problem though.

UNC

Wow, it seems the girls haven't watched Chernobyl yet! That's definitely also a masterpiece miniseries and a must-watch. It would be an awesome reaction. And it's just 5 episodes.

refo44

Great shout on Fargo, feel like they'd love that. And each season is kind of independent so they could take breaks between seasons to watch other stuff if they want to (or if they don't like it). Would be cool if they watched the movie beforehand too but that's optional.

Nina

It doesnt really matter how long the episodes are, they're only going to release one a week. They did mention Barry as one of the possibilities to replace The Wire so idk if they're only going to consider it for the long show slot or if they'll also consider it here.

Bryce

According to that spreadsheet someone posted they haven’t.

BNJ

i’ve heard Mare of Easttown is good (7 ep crime drama on hbo max). Kate Winslet stars in it and it got a lot of critical acclaim bit of wildcard pick but The Rehearsal (8eps) is a funny/thoughtful docu-series if youre familiar with nathan fielder

Sebastian

Severance would be perfect for them, but they said they're gonna wait until we get closer to the season 2 release iirc

HenryM

How about a couple of short but really good shows like Season 1 of True Detective. I'd also suggest Station Eleven or Beef. I think you two would love all three of those shows! Great acting and writing from all of them. And Beef is only like 35 minutes per episode, so it wouldn't take very long.

Jeff I.

Jack, there are 32 episodes of Barry, but each episode is only 35 minutes or so. It wouldn't take them a real long time to watch.

Jeff I.

Florence Pugh is amazing in Little Drummer Girl. 11.22.63. Is pretty good. Lost Ollie because we love getting emotional. When They See Us is a very short miniseries but it is one of the best. And of course Firefly. Because everyone needs to have watched and become a browncoat.

Wanda Did Nothing Wrong

I usually don't have any show recommendations because you have already reacted to or watched almost all of my favorite shows. There are also shows people mentioned but I haven't watched yet. But I want to recommend some shows that it seems you haven't watched and I haven't seen recommended here before. "The Wheel of Time (S1 & S2)": Is the adaptation of one of the most famous fantasy book series. It has been so far a great fantasy show. "Extraordinary Attorney Woo": is a Korean drama about an autistic female lawyer. I'm still watching the first season but it has been great. "Tales from the Loop": A rather unique Sci-Fi Show . Beneath a small town exists The Loop, a scientific research facility. The townspeople end up experiencing an altered version of reality, where impossible things become possible. Each episode follows one townsperson, or a particular group of townspeople, and their experiences with The Loop Chernobyl if you haven't watched it yet.

refo44

I second Andor; I’m not a Star Wars fan, and I loved it. I don't think it requires too much prior knowledge to enjoy.

Kaitlyn

They’ve said they’re waiting til all the episodes are out

Wanda Did Nothing Wrong

I’ve also got to recommend Andor. It’s a phenomenal sci-fi political spy thriller drama. You’ve mentioned in the past not having much interest in Star Wars, and as someone who is a lifelong Star Wars fan, I would agree that most of it isn’t really your cup of tea, particularly when it comes to the type of content you react to. But Andor is such a breath of fresh air for Star Wars and is right up your alley with its character-driven story and watertight writing. It’s very different in its style and tone compared to the rest of Star Wars. Where Star Wars is generally known for its pulpy space fantasy action-adventure spectacle, Andor is focused on the human drama. Everyday people just trying to survive under a fascist regime and building a rebellion against it. What that takes. The kind of people it takes. The sacrifices they must make and the toll it takes on them. It stands on its own two feet, and you don’t need to be a Star Wars fan or to have even seen any Star Wars to enjoy it.

Bryce

Since I haven’t seen this one throw out there, I will suggest Sharp Objects. Great mini series tbh. That or Gen V

Jack SV

Yay! We're back with reactions. I Love Edgar Allan Poe. But I still need to catch up with this show.

refo44

I’m down for anything but One Piece.

Jack SV

Barry ain’t short lol isn’t that like 4 seasons or something?

Jack SV

One Piece live-action would be an interesting reaction. Same goes for Andor even though I know it's Star Wars related, it truly is good television.

Benodinson

Damn they have seen a lot of stuff.

Jack SV

Thanks! I can see what they already watched.

Jack SV

True Detective (new season this week), mare of easttown, chernobyl, Station Eleven, I May Destroy You...

Wallas

I'm going to be murdered for this but One Piece live action would be a top reaction lol Alternatively though to stay away from anime IPS how about a Star Wars show like Obi Wan, Book of Boba Fett, or Andor.

Emori

well, as exited i am to watch this it's pretty late so i'll have to be a responsible adult amd watch this tomorrow. as of shows, well, can't say i've watched much tv lately but barry is always the option for me. loved that show and a lot of its characters. another show i enjoyed this year was Class of 2007. solid one for me. almost forgot firely. firely or barry would be great.

sand_fl

Severance is great and is short, only 1 season so far with season 2 coming later this year

Gunner

Fargo would be great

Pulp

Thank you so much for this!

UNC

2nd Barry! I wish we could get Succession! If you both havent watched I need it down the road!

UNC

Definitely Fargo. season 1 and 2 are classics, and season 5 is absolutely nuts. Or ZeroZeroZero, just 6 episodes. Nucking futs.

SoClose

If you haven't watched it yet, Chernobyl.

BNJ

Fargo s5 is going CRAZZZZZZZZZZYYYYYYYYY rn

SoClose

For those wondering which shows the girls have/have not watched, we have a spreadsheet. Some titles have to be updated from 'watching' to 'watched' but nonetheless it covers basically everything from their tv time, to save you the trouble of looking it up https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15H4Q4j_in5l02iWMWCcnf8KiHiXOv-C4D1_pS9gV_zg/edit?usp=sharing

TeaDrinker3000

Barry

Dominic Logan
