loved that Lola was so tuned in for the FBI profile scene. been looking forward to that scene for a couple episodes. Proably the best comedy of the season.

The actor who plays Randy Wagstaff has a series of interviews/podcasts on youtube, and one of them features the actor who played Kenard. Apparently, the first time they ran the scene with Omar, using the prosthetics/special affects, he was so scared he ran straight out of the store and back to his trailer. Michael K. Williams went there to calm him down and reassure him that everything was fine. Apparently the kid absolutely loved Michael, and even though he knew it was fake, he was scared he had actually hurt him somehow

Omar's death is one that I appriciate a lot. Not because I wanted him dead. No way. He's one of my favorite characters on television. (Marlo is too, but that's another story lol). No, the reason I appreciate it is because it stays in line with the realism of the show. Omar is a favorite character by fans. I respect that they didn't give him this "Hollywood going out guns blazing" death. The reason being that in real life it just doesn't happen that way. No matter what your rep is. Omar is killed. We don't linger on the scene really. We just go to the next scene like he was anybody else. The crime scene is conducted like anybody else. Later zipped up in the bodybag like anybody else. Because that's the reality in the game. A common theme in the show that I really love.

Michael K Williams pushed for MORE queer love scenes
Before shows like The Wire and 6 Feet Under queer men (especially black men) were viewed in a caricaturey way, effeminate and yelping and shoved into the hetero normativity box (one of the partners was more masculine while the other was less so)
Most queer characters in any piece of media receive plenty of jokes at their expense, the jokes are framed as the audience laughing AT them for being queer
The Wire at various times showed queer jokes made at the expense of the queer characters and depicted those jokes as offensive
I love movies like The Birdcage but most queer people don’t have their sexuality or gender on display, it’s another trait. Omar and Kima being queer AND black AND having relationships that aren’t treated differently than the others in the show is fucking amazing
