The Wire 5x07 Full Reaction

the edited will be up tomorrow

unfortunately we somehow didn’t save the audio from the microphone of the reaction so i had to leave the audio from the camera but because we put the camera very close to the tv the audio of the tv is much louder than us so it’s harder to hear us

The Wire 5x07 Full Reaction

Comments

Oh no, not politics! Scary stuff. 🤣 And to reiterate: fuck Meatball Ron.

Samus Prime

...what? They hate Clay lol

Samus Prime

You know where the door is if your fragile mind can't handle political discussion.

Gangster Pikachu

You are the textbook definition of a loser.

Gangster Pikachu

There's literally a dude in the comment section going on a two comment long rant about real world politics lmao. And I dont watch this show, I just saw that comment and Im like, fuck this. I get enough of all this elsewhere

Zonbi

Ok

Zonbi

Well to elaborate (and help you feel less old), I meant more specifically that Obama had been looked at with a degree of caution from Black Americans prior to his election was a niche reference specifically. As a white european, i wouldn't have known that 💁‍♀️

TeaDrinker3000

@Running red Appreciate you asking So let's first acknowledge that everyone has a gender identity, regardless of their sex and background Gender identity can be defined as a person's internal sense of being a man, woman, or maybe neither or both The same way sexuality used to be considered a mental health condition, before further research showed that it wasn't, the same is true for gender identity People who are trans or are more likely to be targets of crime and SIGNIFICANTLY more likely to become homeless. Their life expectancy is lower than the life expectancy of non-queer people So imagine if you're a young trans child, you might also be gay or a person of color or poor or any kind of person systemically victimized You're more likely to be unsafe at school and at home Laws have been passed that prevent Teachers from being able to talk about sexuality and gender while also REQUIRING them to tell parents if they discover if their child is queer What resources does that child have? Especially if they already aren't fitting in or finding community or acceptance for who they are They are being set up for failure

I agree with the general sentiment that comments should be focused on the show, but i do find it odd to complain about political discussions when referring to the wire. The entire purpose of the show is to wake people up to political injustices. Listen to any interview with David Simon and you’ll see the guy is seething with rage at what politicians have done to the city of Baltimore.

Mahad Ali

The original poster specified the antigay legislation they were referring to. If u are going to disagree at least have the decency to respond to their actual argument.

Mahad Ali

That just means I’m getting old. Because it wasn’t niche back then. 😂but thank you for the kind words.

Mahad Ali

Well, this comment gave me my big belly laugh of the day lol. Imagine coming to the comment section of The Wire and being like "Oh man, why are they discussing politics?" Or, y'know, thinking that their anime reactions have somehow not included such discussions either.

cosmotron

landsman holding a copy of To the Lighthouse is certainly an image

Sebastian

What is exactly anti LGBT? Banning men from women’s sports?

Running red

Lol, they've literally never talked politics once in the sense that you mean it. And then Kya comes flying in and further gives you the wrong impression. Oh well.

Michael M

Who would sit down to watch The Wire if they wanted a non-political show hahaha? The whole thing is about how broken America's systems are top to bottom, be bizarre if they didn't talk politics

Kya Colosseum

Ouch, new patreon sub here. Are they big into politics? I'll go ahead and unsub. Definitely done with all of that stuff when I want to enjoy a show. Ive only seen their anime reactions, but the comments here make me think I made the wrong decision.

Zonbi

Am excited for those discussions There are definitely ideas in the season I enjoy on paper (Jimmy redistributing funds that he receives in an underhanded way, the focus on the role/power of the failing News Industry, focus on the homelessness epidemic not being respected, etc…) David Simon’s other show I adore (Treme) also had a rushed ending 🥲

space colon

Fr, like I wish she had a bit more focus these past two seasons but I’m glad to see her character come full circle with her ex’s son. Love her being the sane one

space colon

🤡 behavior if you think they support Clay Davis or any prominent politician in the show

space colon

Glad to say that recent concerning legislation has brought more attention than ever to Economic Segregation All these topics the show has delved into are still important: anti-LGBT legislation (don’t say gay act), critical race theory/altered textbooks, workers rights, police being protected from criminal charges, etc etc There are more impassioned citizens than ever in US history (largest % as well) challenging things like Zoning Laws and supporting Black Owned Businesses We just gotta stay angry for all the kids and people who are the most victimized

space colon

That is such an incredibly niche reference that I absolutely would not have gotten were it not for yourself. Thank you!

TeaDrinker3000

If we had gone to a 6th or 7th season he might've been reading some Jane Austen or Virginia Woolf

TeaDrinker3000

Girls there's been a spoiler posted above.

TeaDrinker3000

I'll just say from a story-telling perspective I'm satisfied with the ending.

Chidi.

What was the point of this

cheech

“Fuck Ron Desantis!!” -Clay Davis supporters

Running red

Do everyone a favor and drop the armchair psychologist bit, you don't know them or anything about them, making this weird comment because something went wrong one time is completely out of line.

Nina

Thankfully they're probably a few eps ahead by this point but in no way is this "not a spoiler", this comment couldn't be more sus if you tried.

Nina

What a bizarre rant. 😂 They made one small mistake (on one video) with the microphone audio and you somehow extrapolate that to mean they don’t enjoy making reaction videos anymore? Calm down Sparky 😂

David

On the Clay Davis case, the strongest evidence against him was tied to his violating federal laws. But because the prosecutor (Bond) is ambitious, he chose to not go to the federal government with that evidence and instead decided to charge Davis with a much weaker state case that he could prosecute himself and use to run for mayor. So like every other public official on this show, he chose to put career first. Also, when Clay Davis called Bond, “Obonda” that was a reference to Obama. Who was a rising star at the time and very popular with rich white Democrats. Which was something that some black people resented or looked at suspiciously. (That completely changed when he became the front runner for the democratic nomination and he was likely to be the first black president of the United States.)

Mahad Ali

Maybe do everyone a favour and stop subbing

Jay Craig

I never knew negging was a job.

You mentioned not being sure about what Gus was discussing with the police officer in the bar - Remember when Gus asked Scott to check up on whether the woman who told the story about the poisoned lobster was lying about it, as someone reported that she had a history of committing fraud. Scott later told Gus he followed up and said he verified that the story was true and that someone else had been impersonating the sister and telling lies. The police officer in the bar basically told Gus that it would not feasible for someone to do that - so he basically confirmed Gus’s suspicions that Scott was lying.

David

they literally explain why in the vid description..

celilmandir

David

I mean it kinda is a spoiler when you call it out like that. Some people just can’t help themselves huh 😐

David

I always get excited when you drop a new episode but then realize it's just an hour of suffering.

Nina

Hmm...

Chidi.

I'm definitely looking forward to hearing what you have to say!! On my first watch I watched all of season 4 and 5 in 2 and a half days, I was totally hooked.

TeaDrinker3000

I like how even Jay Landsman had some growth, he went from looking at porno mags to browsing regular ones with women fully dressed

HenryM

I finished The Wire myself last night. Won't comment too much until the reaction is posted - I watched the last few together and don't want to accidentally spoil. But I'm looking forward to seeing what Lola and Milena think.

cosmotron

Ladies - now that you have posted Episode 7, there is a small detail (NOT a spoiler, but important) you may want to review - that is, who is with Michael on the Stanfield corner when Omar appears. May want to take a second look.

Coach John

"unfortunately we somehow didn’t save the audio from the microphone of the reaction so i had to leave the audio from the camera but because we put the camera very close to the tv the audio of the tv is much louder than us so it’s harder to hear us" LMAO 🤣 I only subbed because your enthusiasm was so genuine. Now it seems this has become a chore. Having a job you don't enjoy will only lead to misery.

Orr Malus

kima’s growth is quietly one the better storylines of the season(along with bubs of course). as jimmy and the rest of the major baltimore institutions descend into lunacy, that last window scene was one of the more memorable moments of s5 for me

Sebastian

Thanks for uploading! Been looking forward to this all day. The journey is getting closer to the end but I've had such a blast that I can hardly complain.
