Violet Evergarden Episode 9 Reaction

Violet Evergarden Episode 9 Reaction

Comments

I needed a good Sunday cry after the emotionally stagnant vacuum that is my family on Thanksgiving. I love how Iris and Erica were wary and skeptical of Violet when they first met her, with Iris even telling Hodgins that she’s not fit for a doll, to being the ones to write her her first ever letter. I sob every time I watch this episode

And as an addendum: The first movie takes place between episode 6 and 7 in order to be able to place it better.

The letter Iris and Erica sent Violet was what fully broke me. Female friendships are something anime doesn't really touch on that often, and seeing them done so fucking beautifully here just fills me with joy. Huge respect to Evan Call who composed the music for this series, these scenes hit as hard as they do in no small part because of the incredible score.

I fucking love this show so much 😭💜

Hello Milena. Hello Lola. I LOVE Violet Evergarder and I LOVE your reactions. After investigating for several hours I have come to the following conclusion: In chapter 5, Violet is 14/15 years old. She said it herself. In the anime it is impossible to know what date it is, but in the novel the author gives a clue found in one of Charlotte's letters. The fragment says like this: "Is there any time of day when you think of me, as much as I think of you? Lord Damian Baldur Flugel, at what time do I cross your mind? Whenever I lovingly admire the white camellias, I think of you. So, camellias bloom from December to February. When Violet arrives at the office they comment that her trip was long, so the back and forth of letters between the princess and the prince was no less than a month. Therefore, it is most likely that this chapter took place between the months of January and February. Additionally, there is another important piece of information that corroborates this date. The date of episode 6 is May 20, 1910. How do I know this? Because it is the exact date that Halley's Comet passed by the earth. When Violet meets Luculia, she talks about how much she enjoyed her work with the princess and the girls accompanying her say that they read about her work, implying that she had already spent some time . Searching a little more, I discovered that Violet's birthday is in September (as a curiosity, the same date as Hange's birthday from AOT) Violet's trips are not short, in episode 7 another month has passed, so We are in June/July, the events of the end of episode 7 extend until 9, therefore, we are still in June/July, therefore, at the moment in which you are watching the series, I can say with almost total Surely Violet is 14/15 years old and two months away from turning 15/16 years old.

I'm completely on board with the first one. I'm still conflicted about the second. But if they want to watch the second movie, I want a big review for the anime beforehand, preferably after episode 13. In my opinion, the second movie should really be viewed completely separately from the anime, as it has a completely different purpose and objective.

Violet Evergarden is just such a beautiful anime with so much emotion. So many of the stories we've seen in recent episodes have almost always been about accepting the death of a loved one, and this time it's Violet who has to accept the death of the Major. Her previously emotionless expression is completely gone and she is able to cry and feel joy. This is what we wanted for her from the beginning, but it's also a double-edged sword. Emotions are painful. My tip: Have tissues ready for the next episodes. They always made me tear up more than this episode. And it's best to watch the last two episodes together.

After the 13 episodes, I highly recommend watching the two movies. You'll love them

Also thought I remind you two that there are in fact two movies that chronologically are after the 13 episodes series. First one being ‘Violet Evergarden - Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll’ which is 1hr 30mins. And then the last installment which is officially the anime’s ending is ‘Violet Evergarden: The Movie’ which is 2hr 20mins. I know you haven’t watched many films on your channel but personally I would love to watch you two react and discuss them.

Crying right there with you two! And can we all just give an applause to the phenomenal Ishikawa Yui who plays Violet 👏👏👏 (and of course you know her as Mikasa) She gives an absolute power house of a performance this entire series in an already stacked cast of voice acting talent. This series just has perfected the art of the good cry. A cry that yes is painful but it’s soo therapeutic and needed.
