No, it's meant to be Ever, because they show the restaurant logo on the Jess's tablet for a couple seconds, when she's talking about sending cars out to people on the waitlist. And since it's a fictionalized version of it, I interpreted the "3 Michelin stars" part as Chris Storer just being really nice to Ever's owners (aside from the free advertising) as thanks for filming at their place.

Mark

They filmed at Ever, but isn't it still supposed to be Alinea? They mention in the show it has 3 Michelin stars and Alinea is the only restaurant in the city that has 3

Michael Stollard

Ranking episodes of the bear is nearly impossible but this one has gotta be in my top 3 favorite episodes of both seasons.

Ozzy S

Not Alinea! They filmed this episode at a different place called Ever, which is a 2-star Michelin restaurant co-owned by Curtis Duffy. And right next to it is its sister bar called After, which is where they filmed the kitchen scenes between Marcus and Luca in "Honeydew"

Mark

In case you were wondering, the name of the restaurant in this episode is called Alinea, it's the only restaurant in Chicago with 3 Michelin stars and is operated by head chef Grant Achatz. There's a lot of videos online that a lot of people think is stupid where they smear food on the table or make balloon apple candy with real helium inside, but it's mostly for the novelty and is actually a really cool place to eat.

"Never too late to start over" *cries*

the kendall roy blueprint!

confirmation that a 40-yo divorced dad can indeed be babygirl

Kara

I've watched it like 5 times and I cry every time lol

It sounds ridiculous to say but this episode unironically changed my life. Before The Bear S2 dropped I was in a big funk in my personal and professional lives, and then playing this ep and seeing a 40-yo lost man discover a newfound purpose in life was genuinely reinvigorating. It wasn't the only reason and I'm not an idiot, I know it's just a TV show, but mainly it made me think: I miss this so much. When did I stop caring deeply and passionately about my work? And how can I start caring again? Bonus stuff: Love the implicit confirmation that "the best chef" Lucas told Marcus about in Copenhagen was Carmy. I'm not the only one picking up on some vibes between Chef Jess (the expo) and Richie right? 👀 The reframing of "Every Second Counts" from meaning "be efficient and don't waste time" to "choosing to spend time on things gives them meaning" is beautiful and makes sooo much sense. They covered it in the discussion but the show has done great ground work of showing that Richie is genuinely "good with people", even in Season 1.

Kara

It's hard to talk about before this episode, but I 100% agree that one of Carmy's greatest strengths is that he knows everybody (in the food scene), everybody knows him, and everyone respects him deeply. It's most obvious with the staging opportunities (e.g Marcus in Copenhagen or this episode) but its there in subtle ways too - in a previous episode Sydney asks Carm about a certain ingredient source and he immediately says he has a friend who can cover it, every restaurant in Chicago gives Sydney special treatment because she's Carmy's #2 etc. He has a huge amount of respect + privilege and he uses it to benefit his team.

Kara

regarding how fast they can make The Bear season 3: according to Gillian Jacobs (and a lot of actors who worked on the show), the creator/co-writer/co-director Christopher Storer films at a fast pace, never taking more than 2 or 3 takes for a scene. so they can probably turn it around fast next spring, if the SAG strike ends soon.

Last episode and then this one are, firstly, my two favorites of the show, and secondly, the biggest juxtaposition in how two back-to-back episodes have made me feel in any show probably. Also I'm not like a huge Taylor Swift fan or anything (nothing against her, just don't really listen) and I was overflowing with joy when Love Story started playing. And the way he's singing along with it, god it's so real. Honestly, I think watching this season reminded me a little bit of watching Vinland Saga season 2. I don't love it QUITE as much (Vinland is my favorite show of this year next to Succession), but at they're both about processing your past and rebuilding yourself for the future, with one sort of paralleling that with cutting down a forest and creating a farm, and the other with rebuilding a restaurant.

This episode had me sobbing the first time I watched it :')

Gabriel Barott

Yeah think this episode does a great job again at showing just how big a deal Carmy is in the food scene. Everyone seems to respect him greatly and has a lot of time for anyone he sends their way. Loved this episode so much

Max Carter

That is such a beautiful episode!

Damien Fenton

Its a wonderful detail in this episode to show the photo of Luca and Carmy. It confirms that it was Carmy that was the chef he said that was way better than him and drove him to become even better as a chef. And Carmy knew the content of Luca's character that he would be perfect to have Marcus stage with. Even with how distracted he's been all season, Carmy as a leader has been helping those around him even when he's not helping himself. It took Richie talking to Chef Terry to understand what a big deal it was for Carmy to get him to stage at a 3-star Michelin restaurant. Chef Terry doesn't do favors, she did it because Carmy is Carmy and he asked her. I have to give credit where credit is due and its why consistently these two are among my favorite reactors, they caught that detail about Carmy in the photo with Luca. A LOT of people apparently missed that. I appreciate the media literacy of the duo.

Simply beautiful episode of television. After the anxiety of last episode this one was the perfect antidote. Seeing Richie start to transform this episode was wonderful to watch. Great now I'm crying again

Max Carter

Such a good episode. I think the sixth is the technically better episode in terms of tone and shots and all that, but this was so heartwarming.

Michael Cannon

About time they did right for my boi Richie this season. If anyone needed his own episode, it was him. I love his progress as a character this season.

Jack SV

This is my favorite episode of the series so far. It really creates a great turn for the entire tone of the show.

To go from in your face non stop assault the last episode was to a beautiful meditative escape on the meaning of work/service to others and finding your place in the world. Amazing.

cheech

richie becoming a swiftie was instrumental in completing his character arc just as we all expected

Sebastian

A very much needed episode after the horror show that was episode 6

HenryM

A beautiful episode, single-handedly managed to make me like the song ‘Love Story’

Darrach

That thumbnail says it all! Richie blasting Taylor Swift while flooring it might be the highlight of the season for me

HenryM
