I think it's a bad habit. It's not like this was done during FMA or anything. You're right that they soft asked. It's just that I think it's a crutch for not considering what's happening in the story sometimes, you know? "It's ending in 2 episodes, so this must resolve immediately" sort of thinking.

as the girls said these are not fillers and next arc doesn't have them either. A filler is a short story with his own sub-structure (an introduction, a development, an antagonist, an ending) that is not related to the rest of the arc. They are collecting cards to complete the game in order to find Ging and in this episode they found an important card. The girls watched it for the first time and they realised it and you did not

Speak for yourself, I think the cards are one of the most interesting parts of the arc, if you just take the time to read them. I was fascinated seeing the new items that could be taken out of the game and into the "real world".

I could not disagree more. The only reason this section seems fillerish is because it's being treated like filler by the anime. They cut out so much of the game

I complete agree. Togashi loves his systems and mechanics but they can be so overwhelming at times when he prolongs their stay. I had the same issue with the GI arc and with the CA arc my issue was that it dragged on way too long in the Anime. However, I think the girls love for Gon and Killua will carry them through plus the fact they are watching one-two episodes per week so they won't feel the weight of how much padding and filler there is for the rest of the 50 or so episodes they got left.

What characters did you find uninteresting and it better not be Ikalgo. I can think of 1 character that wasn't interesting until the end.

The other arcs have filler, but that filler at least stars good characters. THIS is the arc with lots of filler involving ONLY characters who don't even resemble 'interesting' ... talking about a system that Togashi was losing interest in as he wrote it. "Cards will be fun .... uhhhh, what if there're these rarity mechanics? .... uhhhh, forget it, what the heck do I have to do with these cards to get to the climax?" If they make this series again they should seriously just take the ~1 hour worth of good content out of this arc and shoehorn it into Yorknew. Togashi's amazing, he just needs an editor.
