Dumping my thoughts on death note but its main problem is it has a very strong start and a great dynamic but then it really starts to stretch itself too thin. The granular battle between them has such high stakes at the beginning but it can’t keep up that level of tension so it becomes more about the dramatic moments. This wasn’t my opinion until the last few years since I’m older and reassess it. I was riding high on it but then realised it was mostly because of the beginning and I don’t care for much in the middle or end.

@TeaDrinker3000 Perhaps. It's probably the fact that L was still around and that the 3 or so episodes leading up to his demise were so great that I end up thinking it was better than it truly is. I do agree that the introduction of Misa really dragged the show down. However, the final third was just boring and I struggled to care about any of the new characters, and by that point it had lost everything that made the earlier parts of the show so compelling; the writing, the tension, the story beats, etc..

N'awww, now that there's a lot of us regulars here a lot, it really does feel like we've a little community going on ❤️ I really look forward to hearing from the regulars in the comments and I'm glad the girls do too. And seeing all the engaged/mutlitple comments on a video as fun and chill as this too was really great! I think you guys have said you don’t play games, but I highly recommend watching even a cutscene/story compilation video on Red Dead Redemption 2 in your own time. If you love Thorfinn and redemption arcs, I can honestly say that the story and protagonist of that game is exceptional!!

okay, let me just make leave one fucking long comment about the rest of the video that i watched while having breakfast and on my way to work. first of all... i'm being 100% honest when i say i could listen to you taking about taylor swift for hours before getting bored. i love taylor, she's my favourite and i've listened to her music for more than half of my life. i'm an evermore girlie but folklore is a close second. i think it's funny when people can't name a top three because for me it's easily treacherous, you're on your own, kid and the other side of the door (honourable mention to illicit affairs). i mean, i love all her albums and there's few songs that i don't enjoy, but those three are bangers. i also love all the songs you mentioned. thoughts on the alcott lola? i'm seeing her life for the first time on the eras tour. the tickets were a bitch to get and expensive as fuck 💀 my friend and i got tickets in lisbon but we almost got them in amsterdam and poland. one of my other friends is seeing her in poland. blondie's making us travel. second. i mention this every time you speak spanish but you're spanish is quite good. an milena, your accent in spanish is great, you probably just need to work more on the grammar and vocabulary. of you two ever need help just dm me here or on twitter. i actually teach some english so i don't think it'd be too difficult to try to help you with spanish. lol, my older siblings live in switzerland too. ny brother in zurich and my sister in berna. i visited but it was eons ago. i really want to travel more but i'm poor lol. i was going to amsterdam in november to see hozier but there's no more tickets left so i guess another time. florence was definitely my favourite part of italy but rome was great too. and i'd love to visit edinburgh too. hope your girlfriend gives in and you get a puppy soon. if you do we need them in the videos. lola, i feel you, if something happened to lexa i would be crushed for years too. i do think though that a kitten would cheer you up imesnly because they're the cutest. and there's more shit but i'm going to stop before people start commenting to tell me to shut up already. but it's been really fun and i missed your videos so much because it's been a hectic summer and i'm so behind with your reactions it's crazy but it's always so warm and comforting to "hang out" in the comment section ❤️❤️ hope you're not too hungover ☺️

@AJ oh come on really? The last third has it's issues (like the fucking rocket lmao) but I'd say it is up to the same quality as the middle section, which personally I actually found a bit dull in comparison to many aspects of the last 12 episodes. Also the final two episodes are incredible with some of the best voice acting I've heard in anything. Just my two cents though.

Since you talked about astrology at 1:14:00. Personally, I'm a very scientific guy. If there is a factual situation, that is my basis. And with Zodiac signs or the existence of ghosts or aliens on Earth, I am immediately annoyed or even angry. Especially with Zodiac signs every person can find himself in every description, moreover the description also changes completely from astrologer to astrologer. To speak more personally, my racist mother is one of those people who thinks very spiritually about these things, and let's put it this way: she wasn't really the best mother, neither for me nor for my brother. And when my father died in December, she crawled out of her hole like a money-grubbing snake and she and her new lover clung to the money and house that my father had built up on his own under severe physical strain, which is also how he died so young.And since my father did not divorce, because then my brother would lose his entire future (He has no school diploma and worked in the small business of my father, which he would have inherited and was part of the house, which would have had to be sold in a divorce). In addition, my mother was keen on the widow's pension, and my father gets a very good pension because he worked a lot, although the last 15 years were difficult (due to my mother's desire to move to a hick town on the other side of Germany), which is why my mother has cheated on my father with virtually every man in the area before she just left 10 years ago (my brother has not had it so easy because of this). So yes, I hate this woman very much and when someone talks about Zodiac signs, ghosts or aliens, I really notice how pure hatred arises in me, not only because it is simply against my scientific principles, but also because I associate this with my mother.

Since you're talking about character arcs at 42-47. I think that Zuko from Avatar went through a very positive character development similar to Thorfinn and themed Redemption.

I would just say that I feel like as someone who was raised on Hollywood, I've noticed it's easy to dismiss the less grounded tendencies of a lot of media that comes out of different cultures. Because it's not just anime, if you look at a lot of mainstream films coming out of, say, Asia, from Godzilla to Bollywood, there's an ungrounded, unreal feel in comparison. And I've seen a lot of people, including me at one point, struggle to take these things seriously. I also think another thing contributing to this is that we overlook the more heightened elements of our own cultural exports due to our familiarity with them. Breaking Bad is one of my favorite things ever, but it's also a show that revels in its pulpiness. I'm not saying the show is showing about this criminals being badass, but there are undeniably moments meant to convey that. It's meant to be entertaining too. And there's some really fun goofy moments too. But there's a familiarity to how these tones are mixed, it feel natural and right, it doesn't take away from the maturity of the characters, story, and themes. An anime like Attack on Titan also mixes these tones. There are many, many moments where it's just about a badass fight. And it's goofy and emotions are heightened, etc. etc. It doesn't feel the same, but there's a mix of shallow entertainment and deeper art at play there too. Not saying it's gonna resonate with you if you give it a chance. It might not. But I think there are works of the medium that will. It just takes time to tune into the different wavelengths of a different culture/medium/mode of expression. Some of the greatest films of all time are melodramas, or horror, and there are people who would struggle to take those genres seriously too. It's all a matter of taste and familiarity. Ok sorry I didn't mean to type so much. I just get where you're coming from and would recommend exploring more with an open mind, especially outside of the mainstream. And definitely, definitely recommend watching Vinland Saga. I really like AoT and FMA:B, but Vinland to me is easily better than the two of them, especially when it comes to writing. Probably the first thing I'd recommend to anyone skeptical of anime as a serious artistic medium.

Absolutely. Death Note was actually THE show that got me into anime, and I stand by it as kinda the perfect starter if you're on the right wavelength. The pacing of the first 10 or so episodes is honestly so gripping, it's unbelievable. But as it goes on, yeah there's honestly just not that much to dig into. It's iconic and really entertaining a lot of the time, but yeah it's not that great. It's really funny how many people consider it really smart lol. It has its clever moments but the way it handles characters and themes is quite shallow.

I don't think I've ever watched an anime, and I've seen all the ones you mentioned (apart from Vinland Saga), that came close to something like Breaking Bad. I like them, don't get me wrong, but I think it's a deeper issue with the medium as a whole. It just can't compete with a well-made live action show. I simply don't think it's mature or well-made enough to reach those heights, especially in terms of the writing. A bit shallow.. I agree about the potential of anime, though. It can do things that no other medium can.

I mean I’ve seen 12 different anime shows so far and none of them have relied on fan-service, although I do notice certain tropes, but then again I notice just as many tropes in live action tv. For me shows like Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and Vinland Saga all reach the heights of Breaking Bad. Attack on Titan alone tackles so many real world themes and has a narrative structure the likes of which I’ve never seen in live action. Also I’d argue that while animation has certain limitations, so does live action. There are certain stories I’ve seen in anime that could never ever be done in live action because of the limitations of the medium and just how ambitious anime can be. Just throwing in my two cents

Ooh Portrait of a Lady on Fire is one of my favorite films of all time!! Milena has such great taste! Love the female gaze in that movie, so many scenes from it will be etched forever in my mind like the one where we see Adele Haenel's face for the first time! Sadly it's super underrated with barely any reactions to it on youtube (what an unjust world we live in). When you guys eventually start movie reactions hope you react to more movies of that style (there are so many more indie/arthouse ones like it from incredible directors even Little Women is one of them) rather than the more popular blockbuster franchise reactions that you see all the time on youtube

I'm honestly surprised you guys (or people in general) dig anime this much. As much as I like certain anime shows, I can't see one ever reaching the heights of something like The Wire or Breaking Bad, and I've watched most of the ones that have appeared on this channel. I often find myself liking the concept of anime far more than the actual execution. That's not to say there aren't shows out there I really enjoy, there definitely are, but I feel as if the medium has too many limitations and relies heavily on tropes, fan-service, etc. I'm sort of a reluctant or unenthusiastic weeb, if that makes sense. Anime ought to be one of the best, if not the best, mediums, and there's nothing like experiencing a good anime for the first time (not even a good TV show), but...yeah, altogether they just miss the mark for me when I put my critical hat on.

girls, as a spanish person i have to say that as much as i think some spanish people are trash... it's also a great place to live. if you want places with gorgeous beaches i'd say maybe the canary islands or the balearic islands are your best options. i personally love the north and its weather, if you love rainy weather that's your place. other than that some parts of catalunya and valencia have great beaches too. i currently live in a small village in la comunidad valenciana which also have nice beaches. i'm not a fan of big cities, but if you've lived all your live in belgrade i imagine you'll need a decently big city.

There's definitely a lot to be said about you doing movie reactions that are just the raw video like this QnA video. Get drunk, watch the movie, record the full reaction, and then us patrons will just sync up the movie ourselves on our own end. You wouldn't have to hire an outside editor or edit at all, and put it up here for the patrons only. They would be easy to make, low effort, you'd be able to burn off steam watching whatever you want and I for one would find them very entertaining to watch. We already have so much seriousness and effort put into the series' reactions, the movies' reactions would be a welcome (unhinged) break.

I think you guys have said you don’t play games, but I highly recommend watching even a cutscene/story compilation video on Red Dead Redemption 2 in your own time. If you love Thorfinn and redemption arcs, I can honestly say that the story and protagonist of that game is exceptional!!
