Yea but the Violet Evergarden movies is like the AOT movies.... I mean the two long final episodes that came out to conclude the show. I do think it it necessary to watch the concluding Violet movie as it actually continues to the storyline. I would like their opinion about it, even if most of us didn't like what they ended up doing to it and if it was controversial.

OMG YEAH. Fruits Baskets, 86 and Violet Evergarden were the three shows I really wished for them to watch. It fits what they like more than those action-packed shounen animes that everyone keeps recommending. Like Demon Slayer..? Why are we recommending this? lol. Sure it's incredible and the characters are deep and great... but still, not really there speed. But then again I wouldn't have thought they'd continue with HxH either, yet they're on like episode 70.

The last movie was really a complete disaster in terms of the relationship between Violet and the Major. I would also advise against watching the film. It's kind of like Usagi Drop, except that the anime ended the adaptation before it got weird.

I completely agree with you there. The main character in Psycho Pass is great. One thing Psycho Pass also does well is theoretically have an ending after each season and movie. You don't have to watch the second season, or the movies, or the third season. Season 1 has a satisfying ending.

I just started watching Jujutsu Kaisen because of the famous Shibuya arc, but for now it's entertaining for me and ready (first 6 episodes). I think that Black Lagoon would perhaps be more to the taste of girls in terms of anime with fights and violence

Oh, I didn't remember the first eight episodes. It seemed like a good proposal to me because there is a philosophical background behind all the cyberpunk and violence of the story, which are striking elements anyway. Even the second season seems good to me, shorter in case you didn't like it so much. I'm sure the girls would do a great analysis of Akane Tsunemori as the lead.

Psycho Pass is a great crime sci-fi series, but the first 8 episodes are mostly cases that have a lot to do with Japanese pop culture. That's about the only reason I'm not pushing Psycho Pass as much so far. Season 2 is also relatively weak compared to the first, but the movies and the third season is very interesting again.

I didn't see either of them, but I vote for Violet Evergarden because it sounds interesting and because it has a female main character, a detail that they both wanted to see in an anime. By the way, I highly recommend other animes with female protagonists, such as Psycho-Pass and Black Lagoon. And Kotaro lives alone, with which you will cry as much as I do in each of its ten episodes

Vinland Saga and AoT are the perfect wine and cheese pair so I’d say it pairs up with both. I focused on AoT as they’ll be about on episode 7-ish when the final AoT episode airs, not to mention Violet is Mikasa’s VA. Zeke is also in there too

Violet Evergarden is an amazing choice, I wish the scheduling matched up with when the final episode of AoT drops because I, very selfishly, feel like this show pairs emotionally for right after watching AoT’s finale and want to go through the emotions with my favorite reactors. Much more so as Violet is Mikasa’s voice actress (Zeke’s voice actor is in this too). I do hope Ranking of Kings wins the next poll though

i kinda just wished the guy was dead altogether. i mean its nice she found he was alive but kinda ruins the whole "he was actually dead so move on" feel to the show. im pretty used to the whole age gap shit so i just dont focus on it very much. if it was real life i would question it no doubt but anime/tv show it wouldnt matter to me all that much cuz we know the other side would be good to them. but overall i do agree the show would be better if he stayed dead. no hate to the character or their relationship. just dont think it fit the ending/theme of the show.

@Kaycee Bell I haven’t seen the movies yet, so would you say there isn’t any value in it? I definitely agree that the Princess episode is a bit gross and the only way I can attempt to justify it is by calling it a period piece. I even thought that by the end of the season the show landed on Violet learning that there are different kinds of love and yearning for another person can have different facets. Sounds like it’s just my head canon(so unfortunate in my opinion), but I though Violet herself realized that she thought of Gilbert as a parental figure by the end. So, would you say the movie/s go against this and are a skip altogether?

You're 100% right. I think the movie will make girls uncomfortable. What's worse, it's that all these issues are easily fixable if author just decided that Violet is 25 years old not 15, at the beginning. Just 10 years older and nothing else needed to be changed. It would make age gap more tolerable. It would make her being "killing machine" little bit less ridiculous (in anime she is like 10 years old when killing enemy soldiers left and right). If anything it would make whole story more realistic and relatable for people who are over 20 and looking for love or lost in live. Shame, such a simple fix, but Japanese obsession with child heros wins again

I agree with you, that’s why they don’t need to watch the 2 movies or even the OVA, just the series is enough and it tells everything it needs to tell. They also don’t react to movies on the channel in the first place + RoK is the next anime to watch and other patrons already have to wait 13 weeks for Violet to finish, so I don’t see why they should wait more because of additional content like the movies which are totally not worth watching at all, especially the sequel one.

First off let me say I loooovvvveeeddd the first season. I recommended it to everyone and it was my fav anime for a while but…after hearing some things about the light novel and watching the movie that came out like 2 years ago it kind of completely ruined the vibes for me. Gilbert and violets relationship is very weird…it was always presented to me as a parental relationship but it ended up being romantic and it gives me a completely icky feeling seeing the age gap and it feels like grooming. The princess episode also gave me the ick. Y’all know how protective they are of children and with violet being 14 and Gilbert being in his late 20s in season one it’s really weird. Even saying “it’s the time period” it doesn’t make it less weird and I think they’d be really uncomfortable because he really does basically raise her as his kid then they fall in love??? I don’t think they’d be comfortable with it honestly. I just hope they don’t watch the movie I guess lol other than that the show is really good and well written that’s why it makes me so sad that I ended up being very uncomfortable with the conclusion. Anyway wondering if anyone else felt the same I guess lol

Before they started reacting to Hunter x Hunter, I believe the understanding was that they wouldn't be releasing extra episodes just because of it's length. People kept requesting HxH, but Milena and Lola were initially hesitant to start such a long series due to how long it would take them to finish with their usual pacing. In other words, I don't think they'll increase the number of HxH episodes per week, and that's perfectly fine. I'd rather they react to shows at their own pace.

Ranking of Kings: Cute action anime with lots of love and great characters and with 23 episodes not too long (season 2 is basically just OVA or things the anime left out in season 1, no reaction to it necessary). It's a small masterpiece from WIT studio with a lovely story. Violet Evergaden: Female main character who grows and learns through other characters, animated with a lot of love and heart. Not too long with 13 episodes, an OVA between episodes 4 & 5 and two movies. What I just want to mention here: The anime was animated by Kyoto Animation, one of the few anime studios with human working conditions and the principle of only releasing something when it is ready, without time pressure. Unfortunately, this studio was also the victim of one of the deadliest massacres in Japan since the end of World War II. In 2019, a mentally ill person entered the building, doused people with gasoline and set them on fire. Many of them died and many more are traumatized. A very large number of them have worked on Violet Evergarden as well. Simply to honor their work, I would like to see the anime watched.

Violet Evergarden is one of THE most beautifully-drawn anime ive ever seen. Absolutely stunning and gorgeous illustration, and worth watching solely on that basis. The story is heartbreaking and beautiful as well. I'd also like to add Spy Family and Haikyuu! as suggestions for the near future.
