We see how much David breaks down and has to give himself stronger and stronger doses of his drugs (cyber tech and meds for it) to somehow stay stable, because he thinks he has to keep going down this path and chasing the dream of others, unable to face his past. And Lucy tries to get out of her path and cut ties with her past, but is caught up in it. Night City won't let her.
