The Wire 2x12 Full Reaction

Comments

Bye Lil Don! NO ONE CARES! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Charlotte Drolet

Thank You so much Damien! You saved the day for a few of us!

Charlotte Drolet

Listen to Damien. He walks you through it.

Charlotte Drolet

@Adrienne Walker He comments like this all the time and has honestly said significantly worse things. Honestly recommend ignoring him, he's a child who wants outrage and attention and for people to be upset. Just be happy knowing he's giving $10 a month to LM who vehemently disagree with his beliefs and don't approve of his bs comments

Imagine commenting on a show like The Wire (I don’t believe you are really watching) with overt racism. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I use 1.0440048 and I barely have to resync

the chosen one

I play the US version at 1.04 speed. I still have to do a tiny tap of LM's video to sync now and then, but not too bad

Chris Truex

European version of HBO, which runs at 25 FPS instead of 24. There are some ways to make it sync better, check the comments on other episodes of The Wire.

Isak Haugerud

Does anyone know what they watch this on? The recording is faster than HBO's version on my end only for the Wire. Weird.

Michael Cannon

Oh they're not ready for the next 3 seasons, especially S4. I literally cried almost every episode of that season whether out of sadness or anger. I have a feeling they will be doing the same.

Nyeisha Melvina Clark

Man S2 ends on the most depressing note. Now onto my two favorite seasons of The Wire. S4 is my all time favorite season but S3 is a close second. The Wire has always been fantastic, but S3 and S4 reach levels of storytelling I still to this day haven't seen any other show pull off. It's truly The Wire at its peak, I can't wait to see your end discussions for these two seasons being hour long discussions for each episode, lol.

Nyeisha Melvina Clark

Season 3 is my absolute favourite so I can't wait for that.

Aj

I keep thinking if they've been this emotionally invested in these first two, I can't imagine what they're going to go through in the next 3 seasons lol.

Love you catching the pi symbol, feel like it fits too well to not be intentional. That conversation between Beadie and Lester really feels like it captures the spirit of the show, just the melancholic acceptance of reality Idk about the rest of the cast but I know Michael K Williams (Omar) was initially hurt by the shift in focus to white characters in season 2 when the show had done so much for black representation. He later acknowledged that he appreciated David Simon’s approach to depicting Baltimore as a whole, how everything tied together. I’ll personally forever be thankful that season 4 exists and explores the topics it does Love everything you laid out about the purpose of the season’s focus and how it ties in with the larger focus on society! The parallels really are too perfect. Dee and Nick have children at a young age and naturally gravitate towards their uncle’s businesses. Even in a world in which he naturally had more security than Dee the threat of poverty and familial turmoil STILL drove Nick toward criminal gain when the opportunity presented itself. There’s no reason to believe anyone in Dee or Wallace or Bodie’s shoes wouldn’t make the choices they made

Very much been enjoying your reactions to this brilliant show! Such a beautifully put together piece of television with a great deal of insight into the way all levels of society function (or don't) Next few seasons in particular are absolute peak tv and I can't wait to hear your thoughts, The way you pick up on the minor details and themes of The Wire impressive considering it's a very understated show and major things can sometimes almost be swept over

Max Carter

And now we’re on to imo the two best seasons of the show and tv history. Season 3 is fantastic and season 4 is a masterpiece.

Alberto Cruz

Racist dipshit.

Lil Don075

Bingo! I'm not surprised though. I don't know your dumbass, but I know your dumbass worldview. May MLK's rest not be disturbed by you clowns.

Lil Don075

You soundin like one of those people who be like "but why isn't there a White Entertainment Television" or "why is there a White History Month"? Clearly, you're so uneducated and ignorant that you can't see why the cast members of a majority black show would be worried about less of a focus on them and putting it more on white people. Marginalization happens a lot in the entertainment industry and it's a legitimate worry for black actors and actors of other races. And the fact that you did this on a post about The Wire, a show about the marginalization of black people in America and systemic racism and classism. I applaud you. It's obvious that The Wire's message bounced off of your thick head lmao

Legion

If you don't see how "This show is supposed to be about black people in the hood, not white dockworkers" is racist, then there is no saving you. Let me guess, you're one of those "black people cant be racist" troglodytes? Ay space1999 get ya mans 😂

Lil Don075

lol how is that racist?

Legion

You're not special because you're black. You're not more maligned than everyone else because you're black. If you think you are, you're a racist sophist. Ya dig? :)

Lil Don075

Which cast member said that racist bullshit?

Lil Don075

Great insight on the pi tattoo, I was wondering about that. It was clearly purposeful but I couldn't think of what it meant. It representing the cyclical nature of the game makes so much sense. "same as it ever was" is one of the phrases they say a lot.

John

Not too sure if intentional, but that comment Beadie makes to Lester about how they keep going to the next one without looking back to then show Nicky looking back at the docks after no work and then walking away with the pi symbol on his neck maybe signaling that things just keep on going to the next. Also, I remember hearing how some on the cast felt like they had this truly great black show being brought away from the hood to showcase the dockworkers and David Simon said something along the lines that they need to do this or it would show that their world is too small. Then that final montage just clicked for me where they show this white neighborhood/area that was stripped of opportunities by gentrification and union busting mirror what the west side is like by cutting both sides dealing and resorting to drug use (alcohol and heroin). If the neighborhood Wallace grew up in had work opportunities and safety, who’s to say his mom couldn’t be like Mcnulty’s ex and not be a drunk, have a job/home while Wallace goes to school and soccer practice. I feel like it sends a message to apathetic surbabanites/blue collars, that tend to be predominantly white, that you to can end up in their situation by the sheer grip of the invisible hand.

orlanmop _

Ugh it’s just too perfectly twisted… you laid it out so well

space colon

These last few episode break my heart every time smh, feel so lucky LM are watching The Wire Kima really driving me crazy as Mcnulty, agreed to have a child with someone

space1999

what a great episode and season. gets better on each rewatch

T0ast

cuz its in the weekend slot, any show in the weekend slot is subject to shenanigans

Kara

This episode reminded me of what Carv said in the first episode of the show: "You cant even call this a war. Wars end."

John

I was talking to The Wire earlier today and they said that they're going to make a season 6 where Wallace comes back to life but only if LM Reactions cancel their vacation and release the edited video. Not to put pressure on you but they did seem really serious when they said it 🙂

TeaDrinker3000

Lot of futility in The Wire, but one of the lesser sad ironies is that ultimately even the things that Frank achieved in death were all for nothing - he spent his life working for the union and gaining their respect, and they stay loyal with a FU to the feds and the union gets closed down, he gets Nick witness protection but it wasn't necessary as the Greeks already called off the hit, so if anything his family is even more trapped and miserable living in a shitty motel, and finally Zig gets moved to a nicer cell but the real cell is his guilt and nothing will ever get him out of it. At the very least he saved Nick's life by not letting him come to the meet. Love the way they set up season 3 in this episode.

Jay Craig

We can take it

It's all good, enjoy your vacation!
