Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Episode 3 Reaction

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Episode 3 Reaction

im really curious how they'd feel about Little Witch Academia now because thinking about it, it is also about exploring classism and access to knowledge/education in a hierarchical system but still feels very different, especially with how the sexual content in Edgerunners is toned up compared to LWA's family friendly experience. Also I just think they'd enjoy a show with pretty much all female cast, and a really fun cast at that.

Wow...

People are already saying more so I guess I will say this, watching you try to grapple with the themes of cyberpunk stories is kinda crazy! Cyberpunk stories are often about how one individual can make no noticable impact against "the system" (despite all their efforts) but can make a massive impact on other individuals along their journey. But maybe David is different...

Ryab

I get what Lola is saying about David (or Kevin/Phillip) not dealing with what happened to his mother, but I think installing the sandy, joining the crew and everything he’s doing is about distracting himself from what happened to his mother. Also, this world is clearly messed up, maybe everyone is a bit desensitized to death

Mr. Tanaka is the father of the classmate (Katsuo Tanaka) that David got beat up by, and then punched out after he got the Sandevistan. Mr. Tanaka is an executive in the Arasaka Corporation. He is the man who was told by his underling that David would be a good candidate to test "the product" because of his apparent high tolerance for cyberware. Tanaka told the school to bribe David with a scholarship to try to get him back into school so Arasaka can try to recruit or capture him. Faraday, the fixer, hired Maine's crew to steal the nav data from Tanaka's limo so he could learn Tanaka's schedule, because he is working for a competitor of Arasaka Corp.

Cyberpunk stories, as someone else said, are pretty much a critique of pushing modern society too far and having an over reliance on technology, corporations, etc. In this specific cyberpunk universe, which was designed by Mike Pondsmith, for a tabletop game (which also lead to the creation of the video game “Cyberpunk 2077” which will have a few characters in it that are also in this series), this society has an extreme over reliance on corporations. So much so that they pretty much actually run the world they live in. In this world, corporations have so much power they actually have WARS between eachother. It’s basically a world hyper-obsessed with money and technology and “being the best” but at a certain point, the average person gets pushed to such a low due to the higher ups (or “corps”/“corpos” in this world’s lingo) that they resort to being the under the table dirty workers for them to earn a reasonable living. A cyberpunk is someone falls into that category (a mercenary who needs to rely on cybernetic enhancements to work in their field). They are an edgerunner.

Cyberpunk stories tend to be pretty cynical. There are idealistic characters who strive to change society, but they tend to grow disillusioned as things continue to get worse, and on the whole most people have given up on the idea of anything ever changing and focus on trying to survive.

Nubile Reptile

I think that's what the creators were going for, but taken to it's conclusion. It becomes an arms race against invisible enemies and a constant pumping of money into arms traffickers and manufacturers. They also exacerbate mental health issues to the point where what people arms themselves with end up killing the user.

Rare

That's real life too though.

Shivering King Banana

It's pretty damn hard to live a normal life when anyone on the street can have cannon or sword hidden in their arm.

Rare

Ahh yes Cyberpunk Edgerunners: The Adventures of Kevin or Phillip, love that show lmao In regards to your question to what's a "cyberpunk" in this universe, they're like mercenaries that'll do any kind of dirty work provided by "fixers" like Faraday (Giancarlo Esposito's character), that's basically it

HenryM

Behold the adventures of Kevin Phillip Martinez in Titan Reiner’s crew! As you assumed, Katsuo’s father is Tanaka, the guy who Faraday (the middleman) was talking about

You're good. I'm sorry if I came off as aggressive, just trying to be funny. The a/c will go away with the heat though.

Shivering King Banana

No, just pointing it out in case they felt like it would be a problem. I know I'm just assuming, but I've been watching them for quite a long time and they used to complain about lighting a lot even though it was perfectly fine (at least to me). So I feel they nit-pick minor things that affect viewer experience. Not telling them to change, but if they feel like it they can. My apologies if I seemed aggressive or entitled.

Komikall

What do you want them to do about that? Sweat?

Shivering King Banana

Fun fact: the Voice actor for the Four eyed fixer is none other than Gustavo Fring! The great Giancarlo Esposito

Jahari Fields

The fan or a/c is pretty loud, still appreciate the upload though!

Doc is probably nice enough to give the kid a cheap spine. Cyberpunks might just leave him spineless. Doc probablly just attached his normal ribs to the implant. Rib implants are a whole other thing. Why aren't you curious what happened to his skull and bran though? That is also attached to the spine. lol

Shivering King Banana

This is the most normal face she's made in awhile lol.

Shivering King Banana

Ngl Lola, your face in this thumbnail kinda scares me lol
