The Bear 1x01 Reaction

The Bear 1x01 Reaction

Which is allegedly having behind-the-scenes trouble atm, plus worker's strikes. Might get delayed even more : (

Kara

Oh shit, I didn't know yall were doing this!! Thank you, Chef!

XanderWhat

My post was too long to mention so I just assumed they'd figure it out eventually or in the edit, it's not that important

Kara

I've seen other people make the Uncut Gems reaction, definitely has that energy in the edit. Much more lovable characters though thankfully.

Kara

They said they want to do Severance when it gets closer to season 2 release

HenryM

Severance is perfect for reactions.

Orr Malus

Great, great show. It'll be interesting to see how it works for reaction channels. The dialogue is so dense at times that it'll be tough to comment during the show.

Michael M

I recommend SEVERANCE and BARRY

Jesse S

I'm sure someone's said it, but Richie was just talking about some twins in his story not Carmy's brother

Cornberry

First time watching this show with you guys, feels weird not being able to anticipate reactions lol. I loved this episode and the show's premise seems really interesting, the fast paced scenes and editing with overlapping dialogue kinda reminded me of Uncut Gems, all of the character dynamics were really fun (the "snyder cut motherfuckers" got a good laugh out of me), I'm guessing it's no easy feat to direct something like this. Needless to say, I'm hooked. I've never worked in a kitchen but my uncle told me some crazy stories about it and made some really good money working there. I once asked him if he would go back and he told me "no fucking way". Anyways I haven't had dinner yet and this show made me really fucking hungry

HenryM

It’s a dramedy. Like a darker Scrubs

Luis

It's a thriller. Turns out Carmy was serving human flesh all along...

Orr Malus

Thanks ladsπŸ™

JATLA

Its not really a comedy. There's humor in it, but there's a lot of tension in it and it truly excels at its more dramatic aspects.

David Holmes

it's not a comedy from the jump. I'd say it's a drama with some funny moments.

Kara

Is this just a comedy or does it get deep too?

JATLA

show of the summer! i really do wish hulu released season 2 weekly as opposed to the all at once binge model drop. the bear couldve really benefited from that week to week build up and regular fan engagement that series like succession thrived on

Sebastian

I was sad there weren't many The Bear season 2 reactions on YouTube but seeing this made my day!!!

Paul Walker

I’m sure, did you lose your shit when you saw the knife on the floor?

space1999

Oh my gosh this is such a treat!

space1999

Hell ya! I literally just got done watching this!

Griff

It's a cipher for encoding and decoding text (it shifts characters 13 places, hence ROT-13). if you google ROT-13 the top website will let you type text + copy paste it here. then to translate you do the reverse : )

Kara

What is ROT-13? It looks like some kind of cursed language of Cthulu.

Shivering King Banana

God this brought so much PTSD lol as someone who used to work in a kitchen for 4 years( From when I was 16 until my 20) this is the type of communication you can have expect working on a kitchen. Ngl, I kinda missed it…. there is a charm about working with people and screaming at each orders or what we needed. I will say that type of environment is not everyone and I can see why people might see it as stressful lol

Jack SV

Welcome to The Bear Discussions! Please keep discussions spoiler free + use ROT-13 if you want to discuss future spoilers 😊 To add context, Carmy won a James Beard award for 'Rising Star Chef of the Year'. They are the most prestigious awards in cooking (they've been referred to as "the Oscars of food"). The paper gives Carmy's full name as "Carmen Berzatto". There are a lot of bear references in the ep but before I watched the show the first thing I thought of was the Chicago Bears, the city's NFL team. Roast beef sandwiches like the ones being served in this ep are a staple Chicago food - think "philly cheesesteak" - there are loads of little shops selling their own version of this famous sandwich. I LOVE how fast-paced the episode is, but I especially love that in the middle of all the hectic-ness Carmy takes 5 mins to chat to + hug his sister. The whole pace of the ep slows down and I'm a sucker for sibling relationships... even if it's because she's doing him a favor πŸ˜…. Sydney also had a HELL of a first day lol. If this show was made a few years back when Kitchen Nightmares was on the air it would have probably kickstarted a new religion.

Orr Malus

they've mentioned wanting to react to Severance but the longer they wait, the closer they get to S2. There's also rumors about behind the scenes trouble with the creators :( plus the writers strike and other issues. I thought S1 was amazing and hope S2 comes soon and just as good

Kara

they have got to watch severance

Riley

funny how you felt stressed watching because watching the entire show reminded me a lot to my own work... and yeah it's stressful as fuck. minus all the family drama and all it's very accurate about how a restaurant works. the other day i cut myself on the he same finger three times πŸ’€ at least they don't have to deal with a misogynistic boss who keeps making jokes and talking about his latest fling (he has a wife) anyway, i watched this last week, or wasbit two weeks ago? not sure... but i really liked it. i watched the second episode of s2 a few hours ago and it looks like it's going to be abother great season.

sand_fl

yeah i would have loved to have seen them react to succession! they really would have gotten its themes and the characters so well. i'm glad they watched it and clearly loved it on their own though but man, we missed out on so many good discussions.

hjg

totally. s2 episodes gave huge succession vibes (the poison drips through). Still sad that they watched some (or all?) of Succession on their own time thinking it wouldnt be a good reaction series...... the discussions would have been incredible

Kara

love that you guys are watching this. now that succession is done it's probably my favourite show on tv (this and severance). it's filling a hole succession left for me (aka giving me intense anxiety every ep and also the family trauma of it all)!

hjg

Oh hell yeah!!!!

Mikey

I absolutely loved season 1 but I was simply blown away by season 2. Ya’ll are going to love this

Dante

I like bears, maybe I'll watch this one.

BNJ

ayeeeeeeeee what a pleasant surprise - this show makes me wanna try to cook everything

Ron H

You ladies are gonna love this show. So excited!!!!!

Nyeisha Melvina Clark

Every Second Counts (i was also hoping)

Kara

Uhh now would be a good time to start this show. I was curious anyways.

Jack SV

okay, call me stupid but i was not expecting this. i knew you said tuesday but to be quite honest i didn't even know it was tuesday until i saw the notification.

sand_fl

I just finished Season 2. So happy you're reacting to this. I guarantee you'll love it.

Michael M

Just started season 2! The show is magnetic

Brogan

LET'S GO CHEFS!
