A clue in today's New York Times Crossword was 'Evil conglomerate on "Mr. Robot"' (5 letters, answer: ECORP). I just thought that was funny, especially the "evil" included in the clue

Kara

Whatcha mean?

Dustywood

You have posted this same thing in both Mr. Robot posts / other posts, I got no idea who this other person is you're referring to - but you're personally spamming at this point. Why are you bombarding all the Mr. Robot posts with this?

Dustywood

@LMReactions you have a troll in your comment section name "Orr Malus" who keeps talking crap ,being racist when it comes to certain shows and trto take down your channel and your patron. Can we pay to remove this cancer?

KP

Speaking of songs, next episode (this Saturday) has the best Mr. Robot intro song! (The Night Rider song)I never watched the actual movie as I was quite young for it at the time) but the song / intro is so good. Damn this series has the best music.

Dustywood

Good catch, I didn't notice that one either

Dustywood

Except, unless you believe he had some other plan for the content after that point, your idea that he came up with the ending out of wanting the story to end as quickly as possible is fundamentally contradicted by that.

tom

this episode was insane and my head hurts and i'm too tired to leave a long comment... but really, excellent episode.

sand_fl

I can't recommend "March comes in like a lion" enough to you two! You two are one of the most empathetic reactors I've ever seen, and "March comes in like a lion" treats all it's characters like actual human being. It's one of the few shows (live action or anime) where every single character in it feels like a real human being with dreams, ambitions and depth. I'd love to see you two react to it, it would be a treat to watch.

KLC

There are 50 more issues between then and now, which translates to ~4 years. A lot can happen in 4 years. Isayama said he was going to quit storytelling altogether and start a sauna business. Drastic career change is a common symptom of a midlife crisis. So are statements like this: "Remorse and regret is what I feel from looking back on my own stories."

Orr Malus

Today is hunter x hunter and tomorrow vinland?

Vicente de Paulo Guimaraes Priante

The song that plays at the beginning of this episode in the flashback sequence (little push) is my favorite from the entire show. So beautiful.

Notes: -They really did cast Angela's mom perfectly. That and Kim's mom in BCSare the two best "parent" casts in recent memory imo -It really is hard to see how this isn't a season finale, the back half of this season goes fucking hard and makes it my favorite season overall imo -Angela's story continues to impress and the mystery and nuance make it quite intriguing ROT13: Jung'f cerggl pbby vf gung gur zhfvp gung cynlf jura Ryyvbg guvaxf ur'f fgbccrq fgntr 2 trgf n gevhzcunag ercevfr va F4R9, jura ur naq Qneyrar NPGHNYYL ebo nyy gur zbarl sebz gur Qrhf Tebhc naq va rffrapr, "jva" ntnvafg gurz.

It's certainly a unique perspective that Eren's actions are because the author is tired of writing the story, lol. If that was the case he would have simply ended the story at Chapter 90 / S3 finale rather than having this whole new section that is clearly building to this conclusion

tom

@T0ast These constant strawmen are really annoying. You feel compelled to offer a retort but are unable to come up with one so you just pretend I said things I've never said. I explained that even in anime it's a rare occasion to see a proper ending that doesn't rely on the author just getting bored or dying. How you understand this to mean "all animes have proper endings" is beyond me. Funnily enough I even explained in a comment on HxH how most animes are designed to never have an ending... As far as TV shows go, they don't rely on writers alone which means they're not the only ones who have a say on whether a TV show will end or not. For example if an actor decides not to renew their contract then the network has no choice but to rewrite/cancel/end the show. To repeat, again, these are manufactured products and as such they follow the market forces. Vince Gilligan quit Better Call Saul less than halfway through yet the show continued. It's kind of like when a supplier disappears but the demand still exists, a new supplier fills the market gap. "so this is just dumb moralizing" This is just your imagination at work creating strawmen. Explaining how things work is not a value judgement nor an issue of morality lol. "on something all media deals with." Glad you agree with me.

Orr Malus

Both el Camino and better call Saul were ideas from Vince and peter. The network didn't go to them and force them to make it. Also there is tons of spinoffs and remakes in anime so this is just dumb moralizing on something all media deals with.

T0ast

@Robert H. Dude, I literally just explained the last episode of AoT which everyone here saw.

@Antonio Haven't read the manga. Eren killing everyone is just the ending of the previous season. Also Isayama mentioned in an interview that he currently identifies with Eren, meaning he just wants to get it over with. There's even this other interview where he looked annoyed at having to talk about AoT. If you understand an author you understand their work. @Cody Pavy "The networks wanted more seasons of Mr Robot and Breaking Bad but the creators knew when to end the shows and said no we aren’t gonna drag it out for no reason" Exhibit A: El Camino and Better Call Saul "So idk what BS you’re talking about by saying “only anime has good conclusions”." It escapes me why you're getting angry over something I've never said. A show having an ending is not the same thing as a show just ending. It's also ironic how you chose Breaking Bad as a counter example to my point. It's no secret to anyone that the ending of Breaking Bad was changed several times over.

Orr Malus

This one is especially subtle though. The words used are ones anyone could utter and don't stand out much rather than being a full line. Plus it was a small WR moment that always grabbed my attention for its vague humor, so to realize it's the same wording as a small Angela moment I like for its vague horror was a cool surprise

I ask for series recommendations without sudden open endings and then someone just writes: "Well I think it's good how Isayama ended Attack on Titan, namely so and so." 😐 After all, there's only a maximum of 9 months (end of the year) until Attack on Titan has been fully adapted into anime form. Don't ruin it for anime-onlies now, and post something like that just like that, especially not on a Reaction channel.

Robert H.

There's a lot of callbacks and connections. I can't remember the specific ones but I noticed another one, there's dialog which is straight out of S1 I think reflected back in a sad way. The show is filled with these little rhymes or repeats, echos, callbacks idk. Good show tbh haha

Great discussion. Since Lola mentioned the Mandela Effect by name, I think it's okay to point out there have been a few references to this phenomena already in the show. The FBI surveillance scheme that Darlene exposed was called "Operation Bernstein" - The Bernstein Bears is a popular Mandela Effect where people remember it being spelled differently, at one point an FBI person in the show says "is it Bernstein or Berenstain?". In another scene Elliot is seen torrenting the movie Shazam starring Sinbad - this is another popular Mandela Effect, many people recall this genie movie called Shazam starring the conedian Sinbad but it actually doesn't exist. There may be others I forgot I point these out because in the live discussion threads at the time people were already picking up these threads and trying to make sense of them. So it's funny that Lola got that same vibe despite (I presume) not noticing the specific Mandela effect references, it's definitely an intentional theme from Sam and the crew that she picked up on

Kara

Don’t know if it’s on either Netflix or Prime anymore, it’s been on both in the UK, but 12 monkeys is a perfect tv series as far as I’m concerned. The creator knew what the final scene would be from the very beginning of the show, they had a giant board for the storytelling/timelines for season 3&4, which were planned together so that there would be no loose ends. The ending is perfect. My ONLY grip is that 2 characters I love, never kissed. But I also kind of love that they were just friends. I highly recommend it to everyone who might read this. Also; Jennifer Goines is one of the best tv characters ever created, and if you don’t love her just a little by the end, then you’re a lost cause 😆👍🏼

There's also a photograph of child Angela in 3x1

tom

I've watched the show twice in full and this is the first time I'm realizing that the child actress from 2x11 is the same one who plays Angela as a child. I just thought they look similar, nice catch.

Dante Moten

So good 🥰😭💕

Cody Pavy

There's a lot I could say about the tense confrontation with Elliot and Angela in the beginning of the ep. But I noticed something really cool that I don't think I've seen someone point out before Elliot: They're blowing up a building Angela: Yes, I know (2x11) Angela: Your fish died Whiterose: Yes, I know I always had a fascination with that WR line (perhaps because of how many times I had rewatched her talk with Angela to try and figure out the show), and with Angela this ep it always felt like gut punches despite not being new info. Perhaps because of the editing and how it's new for Elliot so it feels like a huge deal But I only just now linked those two "Yes, I know" lines. The very matter-of-fact and casual delivery and context feels so similar. Did anyone else make this connection? Am I reaching or do you think it's intentional? EDIT: Also there's something so chilling about the way she openly goes "We need to let today happen" and the implications of all of it

tom

Any K-Drama recommends? I watch a decent amount, but other tastes might put me onto something new

Isaac

truly never could have imagined this, maybe i just didn’t want to imagine something this dark 😂

also mostly what i watch on netflix are south korean shows, they usually have only one season of 16 episodes so it ends up being a pretty concise story

LM Reactions

anne with an e had our whole heart, i hated that it was cancelled, it was such a joy.. i was so excited to watch 1899 but it was cancelled soon after, i think i dont like starting netflix shows anymore cause they end up canceling everything without any proper ending

He's also just wrong about a lot of things and I'm confused if he's read the manga or even knows anything about manga. Manga series are famous for being milked and then having rushed endings because of author burnout. Some tv shows have intended endings, some don't; some anime/manga have intended endings, some don't. AOT didn't run for 14 years, it ran for 11. AOT and other manga aren't based on a singular visions, as editorial teams often influence big plot decisions and how entire story arcs play out. Really bizarre comment. I get people's worries about it though, I think we've all been there. Once your brain starts overthinking about something you can't un-think it

tom

Exactly! It's so surreal where Angela is at. Also, I remembered your discussion of her storyline back in S1. You talked a few times about how Angela is now trying to change the world like Elliot by taking down E Corp, but unlike him she's going about it in a more legal and moral route to juxtapose their storylines... It was very funny knowing the complete opposite happens

tom

Dude… Orr Malus out here dropping massive fucking spoilers and also showing a complete ignorance and disregard for television. It’s okay if you like anime. But shows like Breaking Bad and Mr Robot were mapped out and ended when they wanted to. The networks wanted more seasons of Mr Robot and Breaking Bad but the creators knew when to end the shows and said no we aren’t gonna drag it out for no reason, we are gonna end the shows properly. So idk what BS you’re talking about by saying “only anime has good conclusions”. Also pro-tip, maybe don’t spoil shows on react channels. That’s the quickest way to make EVERYONE on the channel hate you..

Cody Pavy

Subtle

tom

Yeah I'm in the same boat, I'm hoping he just meant the rumbling but idk. That's why I'm hoping the girls don't randomly touch this comment section just in case. Imagine dodging AOT spoilers for a full year, then randomly getting spoiled on a Mr. Robot REACTION video out of nowhere lol I might have to stop reading these patreon comments, man, this is crazy

Tony

A couple fun things about the locations- The club that White Rose and Phillip are hanging out at, Mar a Lago, is Trump's resort/club in Florida. So all the jabs about being tacky, no taste, too tight swim trunks etc... and definitely avoiding being stuck on a boat with him... all about Trump. The NYC building Elliot is trying to protect- the outside shots they use are of a very unusual building in Manhattan that looks like that because it was built to survive a nuclear war (at least indirect hits). No windows/bare concrete construction, and the huge high set vents to filter fallout from the air. It has a lot of very important long distance telecommunications exchanges for the region, so it was supposed to try to help some communications around the country still work after nuclear war. It's also suspected to have a major NSA (US Telecommunications Spy agency) surveillance hub, either now or at least in the recent past.

RocktSurgeon

@orr i'm really hoping you're just referring to whats within the anime already with the rumbling and not just spoiling the end of aot with manga spoilers which i'd have no idea cuz i havent read it

Antonio

So, these both did get canceled at some level (and they've actually reacted to both) but in case you haven't seen them: Expanse and Sense8 both have great, satisfying endings. Expanse got renewed and came back stronger, and while there are more books we hope will be made into more seasons for now it did end very well as a good stopping point. Sense8 got canceled when they were finishing the 2nd season but they got the chance to do a movie length wrap up that does a great job (if a bit rushed because of compressing several seasons worth of development).

RocktSurgeon

mannn, off topic. I might be overreacting, but I'm gonna need LM to NOT read the replies in Robert H's comments just in case they read replies. I think there's a reply there that contains a major spoiler for AOT that jumps at you without warning. Pls don't risk it. Other than that, great reaction as always! Reading some of the comments, I forgot and underestimated how important Tyrell was to this whole thing. And poor Angela, man, she's like the Jesse Pinkman of Mr. Robot :-( She pisses me the hell off but I can't help sympathize with her :-(

Tony

You'd have to buy it on Amazon, but I'd really recommend Black Sails. I hope L&M get to it after they're done with Mr. Robot. On Netflix, it's animated and aimed at kids, but She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is really fun if you enjoy cartoons. It's generally pretty lighthearted, but it can get you in your emotions. It tells a full and complete story, and ends when it was meant to. A Series of Unfortunate Events is a live action show that also tells its full story, but its tone and aesthetics aren't for everyone. If you haven't checked out the Mike Flannigan horror series - Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass, I'd also recommend those. They're all one season, but also sort of spiritually related to each other and use a lot of the same actors. And the stories they tell are complete (not the case for Midnight Club unfortunately - that one was meant to have multiple seasons but got cancelled). Also, The Good Place. Both funny and heartwarming and sometimes heartbreaking, with a lot to say about life and living.

cosmotron

I think you're asking for the impossible. Don't look at TV shows as just a form of storytelling, look at it like a manufactured product. This product you're consuming only exists because the people who make it get paid. "Pringles" isn't going to stop appearing on shelves in the same manner a successful TV show isn't going to have an ending: a lot of people's livelihood depends on its existence. The only shows that have a proper ending are animes (FMA, Monster, Ergo Proxy, Mob Psycho) and this is because they're based on one person's idea. If that person decides they need to stop then the story will have an ending. But even so, it's still a rare occurrence. Now imagine if the story is written by a whole team of writers who were hired by a team of executives who want to make money in order to get rich and also pay a whole team of actors and production crew. This must also be why Isayama decided to just kill everyone in AoT. He wants to end the story and not have to deal with sequels, prequels, spin-offs, remakes, etc. If you had to work 14 years straight on a project, having genocidal urges is completely understandable.

Orr Malus

Castlevania is fun, animated show based on the vampire game. It's pretty gory but it has really enjoyable characters and great animated action scenes. Agents of shield is an MCU show I think is a little underrated, its not -peak- television but its a nice long journey (7 seasons) with a solid cast of characters to love and balances goofy fun with serious drama/action better than most of the MCU movies did imo

Antonio

In terms of shows that LM haven't watched so we can take them out of the category, my next line up would be "Person of Interest", though they were denied a 6th Season so they had to fill two seasons worth of content in a singular season (season 5 / finale) - so it was a bit rushed in the final few episodes. I just mention this because I found it a top tier show, and has my favourite actor Michael Emerson (Ben Linus from Lost) in it

Dustywood

Is on the list, I had even planned to see at some point. It was relatively high on IMDb.

Robert H.

I'd recommend Peaky Blinders if you haven't seen it. Its final season came out last year and it has a movie coming next year that will finish the story. Fantastic period piece.

Dante

To ask a general question: Which series can you guys recommend on Netflix or Amazon Prime that haven't just been canceled in the middle or where the story hasn't been stretched out longer and longer and has gone around in circles that you just stopped watching at some point (e.g. Shameless and Dexter)? Somehow I just only get frustrated when I reach the end of a series. Today I finished Anne with an E, which was one of the best things I've seen on Netflix lately, and then you find out that it's just been canceled and unanswered questions remain. 😐 Unfortunately, it was the same with Juvenile Justice and 1899. You just lose the fun of watching a series. If at least one more season would come to give a series a proper ending, e.g. like Fringe, it would be so much better.

Robert H.

We saw him in the Prison during Season 2 in the background, LM didn't pickup on it though - ,maybe we get another chance soon :)
