I imagine White Rose's learns from how Angela reacts and responds rather than the specific answers. The extremely wide range of questioning tests Angela's (and our) boundaries and instincts. From the incredibly inappropriate question made to come from a child, to impossible hypotheticals to simply choosing a color. I don't imagine White Rose cares if she chooses red or purple. White rose probably did care that Angela did not panic or even pause in the face of an ominously aimless question.

Yesss. I was overworried for a second you might miss even the ending, since it cuts to black for a couple seconds before the final scene. That phone call is one of my favorite scenes in the show, it's so short seemingly minor in what it is but yet it's so shocking

i spent 14 hours on travelling between flights, waits and car rides yesterday and today i spent the day cleaning, assembling furniture and doing groceries. my brain on a normal day would have a problem understanding this episode, my brain today, already being exhausted, can only think of a few words about the episodes and those are 'what the fuck '.
every time i think this show can't get weirder... it does.
also, i think now it's evident there's something more to phillip's relationship to angela than what they're showing us.
that scene with dom talking to alexa was done beautifully and it made me tear up. the actress is doing a fantastic job.
can't wait to ti watch the next, hopefully darlene will be in it.

I agree, and think the bizarre nature of the questions is supposed to shatter social barriers that can be used to disguise the truth, forcing Angela to be more honest AND open. WR also multiple times makes a connected reference between how long Angela has been there and a possible outcome if she stays, invoking sunk cost. This compounds with the bewildering questions as it brings Angela into a state of curiosity -- by overloading her with this weirdness it creates mystery and a lack of knowledge, again making her more open to answers by creating those questions in the first place! She is consequently then more likely to believe whatever those answers are. WR could easily use force to keep Angela there, but like she said she wants Angela to believe.
Also, ROT-13 kind-of spoiler thoughts

According to one of the writers of the series, "Kor Adana" spoke of the following, it's the only "official" response I can actually find other than people's theories. You're okay to talk about it as it is not a spoiler (as it's already been covered):
"Kor Adana claims that Angela was being subjected to a test of worthiness, further explaining:"
"Angela was asked questions both odd and intrusive by a mysterious little girl under the moral duress that not only will a fish tank in the background drain, but the girl will be abused if Angela doesn’t comply. Yet, with said questions kicking off with, “Have you ever cried during sex?” and “Red or Purple?,” Angela’s bewilderment was understandable. The questions also depicted hypothetical scenarios resembling the kind of old adventure games played on the very antique computer sitting in that room. However, as Adana affirms, this was simply Whiterose’s algorithmic style hacker approach to determine Angela’s value in the “Phase 2” plan, specifically why E Corp CEO Phillip Price is so fixated on her."
In terms of viewer theories, this is the most common themed response "Whiterose implies that the hours she was kept there were prelude to the actual meeting. Simply wasting her time with nonsensical questions is meant to make sure Angela cooperates and doesn't waste Whiterose's time. But meanwhile, the girl with the fake bruises tested her empathy or gullibility, again prep for the conversation WR was going to have."

It's very interesting why Angela is allotted more time than Elliot. And it is very much integrated within the plot points. "But I am going to prove to you why you need to drop this mission that you seem so stubbornly unable to let go of."
Because of who he is, Elliot doesn't need nor could he ever be convinced by White Rose.
This show is so intricately crafted. Truly amazing!

Great episode. And yes haha, the ROT-13 algorithm we've been using is a way that people who have seen the whole show and are watching your reactions can talk to each other without spoiling you.
With your love of Angela this season I've been anticipating this episode a lot. It's a very nostalgic episode for me, because as I've said I hopped aboard the show in between S2 and S3. The conversation between Angela and Whiterose is definitely one of my most rewatched scenes. A perfect encapsulation of bizarre, surreal existentialism. The most seemingly ordinary character, Angela, who seems to exist almost outside of the plot, meeting with the character most deep entrenched in the plot. The weird questions, the immersive cinematography, the atmospheric music -- it's all great. The moment of Angela staring ahead while it fades into black and the piano along with "mind awake, body asleep" returning in the soundscape is still a moment in this show that gives me chills.
I also really like this episode for Dom. Her loneliness and the 'what am I even doing?' feeling is on full display (one I love about this season) as she tries to get some sleep in the middle of the day but is plagued by her own thoughts. The humor in the scene from "I wasn't asking you a question, you dumb bitch" to its sadness with "Alexa, do you love me?" continues to make Dom charming in every scene she's in. I really like you guys' enjoyment of her, because the last reactors I watched of the show were consistently annoyed by her, haha.
The finale is indeed split into two parts storytelling-wise like the premiere, as can be seen by the titles. If you think of it that way then S2 also has ten 'episodes', and is just longer. The ambiguity there somehow fits the season... Like with the premiere, there's a notable absence of character/s in one part compared to the other. No Darlene this ep! But since you've seen the next episode I think you'll be thoroughly satisfied with her scenes. And with the ending of the season! ... Well, there might be even more frustration and confusion then there was this episode. But I look forward to it, and the discussion. I'm sorry the long talks are a pain to edit, but I can assure you we all like when you go really in depth.
There's a lot more I could talk about, but I think I'll leave my mini-review there (lol) and try to refrain from commenting on random details like I normally do (if not I'll do what I usually try to, and wait until right before the next reaction so people are done commenting)

When I started doing it I forgot it came up in an episode, honestly, but quickly realized and had been anticipating the moment for a while. Exactly how I feel. Angela is sort of an 'outsider' character. If this was a show about superheros, she's the one human character that doesn't have any powers. Seemingly detached from most things and in her own bubble. So to see Whiterose, who is about as far involved in everything else as one could have, talking to Angela and allotting so much time that we don't even see their whole conversation -- it's worlds colliding and creates so much intrigue and surrealism.

With some types of interrogation methods, the questions may not all be about obtaining an answer so much as putting the subject in a certain mental/emotional state. This could be done either to trick them into providing information against their best interest, or to plant an idea in their head for some other purpose.
Also, people who are red are also giraffes and cry during sex. Everyone knows this...

Angela's scene really is one big fever dream of a scene but it's still surreal to see her sharing the screen with Whiterose, particularly given she gave her like eight times more time than Elliot. Very glad you've watched the next ep to, it's kind of a brutally surreal ep on its own LMAO
