A valued patron asked if he'd seen characters from my latest piece, in other works. The answer is a definite yes. I have developed about 100 or so characters, of whom maybe half are specialist, and you won't see them often. The others I choose according to the situation and mood.
I can also mix and match faces with bodies.
Just recently, I've been developing a portfolio of black and Indian characters as I wanted my work to include them occasionally.
The most common thing that you will see repeated is hairstyles. Although I have perhaps 200 hair models, I tend to stick with less than a dozen shorter, more neutral, traditional styles, which pretty much reflects real life.
I can style them a bit, one side or the other, longer, change the colours, but I mostly keep it simple. If the character's head is any angle other than vertical, that tends to suggest one of very few styles or else I have to figure out how to make gravity or wind affect them, and that's not always possible.
