WFH BTS and Sketches
Added 2025-04-02 04:18:52 +0000 UTCI figured it may be interesting to show some of the process behind WFH and my lined art in general! I do not follow this process for most of my art; but for lined work like this comic, this is what I've been doing!
For the most recent WFH page, page 12, I modeled the room bg in Blender from some assets and my own primitives. This way, I can have a consistent and detailed room environment! I probably should have done this earlier, but it was still very useful for this page.
The boxes represent the actual height of Doug and Steph.
I rendered a view in Blender, then traced the major forms in CSP. I adjusted some things to my liking in the process, mostly the bedding.
Then, I add flat colors with some minor gradients.
Then, color the lines to make them smoother, as well as add details, and a bloom/vignette effect.
For Doug and Steph, I start with a rough sketch, then a slightly cleaner sketch.
From here, I line, flat color, line color, and shade them!
Finally, I add some fx/sfx, and it's done!
That's more or less the process for each panel - in the case of this page, I reused the BG to give it a 'static cam' feeling, and emphasize the passage of time by changing the lighting. You may also notice some changes on the computer screen ;3
As I finish up WFH, I'm now sketching and fleshing out an image set for Dad & Son & Friend. Here is the very rough thumbnail of posts 1 & 2 of 4!
