It's sad that people give Greg Baldwin shit. They made the best of the given situation. Mako unfortunately died but Iroh is integral to the story, so you have to keep him, and honestly his voice in season 3 is just fine. Slightly different, but fine. It's still Iroh, as you say. People just nitpick too much.

Also, keeping in mind that Mako passed away shortly after this episode, we get a new voice actor for Iroh. I watched this show as a kid, and personally I couldn't tell/didn't know it was someone else. When I found out it broke my heart. However, when people know this fact going into the new actors episodes, they give him a lot of shit. And are upset about a performance they feel is lacking. I think he did an amazing job. Without a doubt, Mako would have brought something special to the lines, but that doesn't take away from what his successor was able to do. Outside of actors,Uncle Iroh is Uncle Iroh. I just ask you keep an open mind, and let yourself be absorbed by what the story is, not what it could have been.

I appreciate the emotion you show in your reactions; it makes me not feel so alone in my emotions for the story. Good luck with your upcoming exams!!! I'm finally going back to university to finish up my degree so I will also be in study mode soon as well haha

Also, related to the song: Since Makoto (Mako), the original VA for Iroh, sang this song in the episode, it kind of became connected to him in a way that the new actor, Greg Baldwin - that portrays him also really good - that took over his role after Mako sadly passed away, refused to sing Leaves From The Vine, when giving interviews. When asked why, he stated that he "can't do it. It's Mako's song" and that it should remain this way, to honor him further.. :/

I love your reactions so much!! I don't know why, but every time i see you both cry at one of those emotional scenes, i can't hold back either haha- (That said, not that i could, watching them on my own either lol) This is such a strong episode and honestly it never really affected me as a kid, when i first watched it. It only hit me recently (maybe 1-2 years ago, when i rewatched it again for the first time in years), which probably really speaks for itself, that ATLA is indeed not a show entirely made for young children.
Definitely looking forward to next episode, which is also really emotional, aswell as to one other in the future which gets me every time at a certain scene. This show is so full of tragic and humor at the same time, it's truly incredible to me^^

Also, I heard that the drawing of irohs son, that we see in the episode, is based on what Mako looked like when he was younger. :’(

Fun(?) Fact, the Leaves From the Vine song was the last recording of Mako's voice before he passed of cancer. The creators came to him shortly before and asked if he would perform one last recording for a special episode of the show, and apparently it's genuine crying from him that you hear in the song :'(
