Early Access: Home Regions Update
Added 2023-11-06 21:31:54 +0000 UTCI've added a few new toggles and filter types to Home Regions that I hope you all will find interesting.
1. New Venue Filters
You can now choose to filter customers and patrons for the following venue types:
- Spas
- Restaurants
- Retail
- Beaches
When set to Locals Only, these lots will behave as you would normally expect with Home Regions installed. However, some people will reasonably travel some distance to go to one of these in real life. Or perhaps you simply own one of these lots and want more customers. Whatever your reason, you may choose to set one or more of them to Open, which allows customers and patrons there to bypass the regional filter. While each of these is a global setting, you may choose a setting for each venue type individually.
Note: Previously Beach lots were handled by the Sulani tourist setting. You'll need to adjust your settings if the changes do not reflect the filter behavior you want.
2. New Career Filters
Active career lots have always been sort of weird for Home Regions, due to them not being located in any standard region. I think I've come up with a good solution that will hopefully alleviate that weirdness.
You can now choose to use a Same as Household filter for the following situations:
- Police Station (Detective career)
- Hospital (Doctor career)
- Laboratory (Scientist career)
- Meet Coworkers (all work rabbitholes)
- Meet Schoolmates (all school rabbitholes)
When set to Same as Household, other Sims working with your Sim in all those places will come from the same region as the active household, as set by your Regional Filter setting. This means if you have a Sim in the Doctor career in both Willow Creek and another in Oasis Springs, the game will generate two different staffs depending on which household you are currently playing. If set to Open, then they will behave like before this update, with the lot or rabbithole being in a no man's land where Home Regions does not prevent any Sim from spawning. Like above, you may choose a setting for each filter individually.
Note: These filters do not apply to the various career events that take place on standard lots, such as crime scene investigations.
Note: The Meet Coworkers career tone will NOT generate new Sims to fill that role if no one else in the region works in the same career. If you use that to make friends, you may be better off leaving it on Open or otherwise make sure to add Townies in that career manually.
3. Fixes
This update includes the two fixes I added to the public version today:
- Fixed an issue that could cause Sims on date to get a route failure if they tried to ride any of the pier attractions
- Added compatibility for restaurant filters used in bienchen's "restaurantguestoverhaul" mod
As these features use new coding techniques, this update will remain in Early Access for a short time to gather feedback. Let me know if you have any problems or if something behaves in an unexpected way.
Happy Simming!
Comments
Filtering by neighborhood or street is probably not feasible, but there are World Filter Exemptions that you can apply individually to your rich or well-travelled Sims to allow them in Tartosa.

2023-11-20 19:11:07 +0000 UTCHey kuttoe! I'm curious if it'd ever be possible to set any of the filters by neighborhood? For instance, I'd like to set it so the Pinnacles neighborhood of Del Sol Valley can travel to Tartosa but not the other neighborhoods. This way I'd only see celebrities/rich people from Del Sol in Tartosa and it'd be like they're just vacationing there or something.
