Teen Quirk Information

Here are some more detailed descriptions of the Quirks available for the Teen lifestage, as part of the Lifetime Quirks mod:

Cat Allergy and Dog Allergy

These Sims will have an allergy reaction any time they are close to a cat or dog for too long, or if they do socials where they get close and touch the animal. They will start coughing, sneezing, and generally feel Uncomfortable. Taking antihistamine pills from the Pharmacy will give them a temporary immunity, allowing them to interact with their fuzzy friends again.

Insomnia

These Sims will have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. Every time they go to bed, there is a chance their sleep will be interrupted and they will get the Sleepless moodlet. While this is active, they will not be able to go back to sleep unless their Energy reaches zero and they pass out on the floor. To prevent this or to clear the Sleepless moodlet and get back to sleep, you can take melatonin pills purchased from the Pharmacy, or get a Food Coma moodlet from a Grand Meal. If you have Basemental Drugs installed, alcohol, cannabis, and other depressants will all work, too. If all else fails, there is always coffee.

Body Image Issues (three varieties)

These three quirks operate very similarly to each other. Depending on the type of insecurity they have, your Sim will get Sad occasionally if they are not in the shape they want to be in. If they aren’t wearing much clothing (e.g. swimwear) and are near people they aren’t friends with, they may become embarrassed. How harshly they judge their body depends on their current Emotional Wellness. When it is very high, they are unlikely to care, but when it is low, their standards for themselves may be nearly impossible to attain. In any case, getting their body shape more in line with their preferred ideal will make them happier.

There are three different versions of this trait: Sims who want to lose weight, Sims who want to gain weight, and Sims who want to become muscular.

Distrustful

These Sims have been burned by a relationship or two and now have trouble building trust with new Sims. When their Emotional Wellness is neutral or low, they will be wary of any strangers they meet and get Angry unless they’re backed up by some of their friends. They’re somewhat likely to form grudges with Sims they don’t know very well, often for no good reason. If they’re on bad terms with a family member, they’ll get Angry about that. If they see someone they’re enemies with, they’ll get really Angry. While in any of these moods, they’ll be more likely to do mean social interactions. To avoid these nasty confrontations, keep their Emotional Wellness high. As a bonus, Sims with this Quirk get a small bonus to their Emotional Wellness by performing mean and mischievous socials. If you have Basemental Drugs installed, a decent high from cannabis, lean, or Xanax will help keep them calm.

MMO Fan

These Sims love to play a video game called “The R.E.F.U.G.E.”, a medieval fantasy, massively multiplayer online game. Pwning noobs and taking down bosses is how they get by. They’ll want to play just about every day, but to really get far they’ll need to join a raid guild (a new option on the computer under the Play Game menu). Upon joining the guild, the raid information in your Sim’s career panel with some backstory and pre-raid tasks. Finish the tasks in time and be ready on the weekly Raid Day to beat the encounter. Completing the quest will award your Sim some Emotional Wellness, a moodlet based on how well their guild did, and some Aspiration points depending on how many raids you have completed. Missing the raid entirely will always result in disappointment. Sims with a very high Emotional Wellness are more likely to get bored of raiding and may want to come back to the game later; in that case, you can quit the guild at any time; the other players will understand.

Sports Fan

These Sims love to watch, talk about, and breath live sports. They’ll want to watch some sports on TV every day to get highlights and analysis, but the big, important games happen on Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon. Before game time, information about the game will appear in your Sim’s career panel. Pay attention to the schedule and make sure your Sim gets to a TV to watch their team soar to victory or crash into defeat. Watching the game will give your Sim some Emotional Wellness, as well as a moodlet depending on how their team did. Missing the game entirely will always end in disappointment.
