Heyo all, no new goobit this weekend :( I got a lot going on so I don't think I'll be able to post the newest set of pages at least until next week.
But, to fill the gap, here's an old project I dug up that I was working on around when I started to do comic commissions in full, and gave up on due to burnout in the way I was making comics (specifically, this was when I felt the desire to sketch out the entire comic then ink the entire comic then color, etc, and was attempting to break that mold then ran out of paces. I've both learned since then and semi maintained that attitude with a bit of a healthier motivation.) I am however considering revisiting or remastering it once I finish Goobit, or whatever other big project I work on.
This is: the Tummy Trainer Kit™, an in-universe product line that had flash in the pan popularity a la many at home fitness activities as-seen-on-TV that were popular a few generations ago, but hence fell out of fashion. The comic was going to be structured in two parts, one half following the literal pages of the instruction manual and the other half following Moblie as they do a bit of home-recording of their "exercise experience."
While it looks like a bunch of lore and worldbuilding, it is, but I abide that every word here is not golden and you do not have to read it all to get the full experience. I had a few goals with this:
1) thematically, this was going to be a bit of a non-cannon "origin story" of how Moblie got so into belly kinks, which is that basically a "fuck it lets try this dumb thing I found" moment turned into a routine, then a habit, then finally a craving. They were going to follow an arc of practicing inflation, vore, pseudo-pregnancy, weight gain, vore-with-accidental-digestion, a brief pause as they reflect upon their feelings about that, berrification, and then once older showing them actually pregnant looking back on all these things with an aire of "ahaha i was so young and dumb back then..."
2) Generate the real life reader experience of wanting to flip thru the instruction manual to get to the "important bits" while accidentally skipping over the warnings and thus mirroring Moblie's experience. This was also partly a flaw of the comic, in that, while it had very little art demand the workload was different, and my page-output was only slightly faster. I started experiencing doubts towards the project when I realized that the normal crowd looking for smut who eyeball over every page wouldn't want to have to wait for pages and pages of text, regardless of release schedule.
3) A goal was to practice typeface and character spacing around text, images, and unusual geometry. As a practice of the study I felt this project was a resounding success as it helped me get some of the techniques of specific word choice and spacing found in my comics such as "Black Widow"
4) Practice focal object design. In this, I really was making an effort to make all the toys and associated products to scale at all times, even in the sliced anatomy shot and different angles. I did a lot of work practicing with the skew and scale effects which sadly didn't come thru any further as I had struggled with some escape velocity on this one.
