Added 2024-11-12 19:36:19 +0000 UTCOne of the things I’ve heard is that the president sets the tone of the country. I understand that this is true, but it shouldn’t be. The American people should set the tone of the country, this shouldn’t shift with the propaganda wars being conducted daily in the media, they should emulate the tone of the people. People have been trapped in this dysfunctional relationship for so long, it’s difficult to find & unimportant to point out its origin. This is a maze of dysfunctional relationships, it’s not just “the people” & “ the system” - that level of simplistic thinking just obscures the reality that EVERYTHING is part of this web. This means that no easy solutions are possible & the antidote is constant vigilance. Thinking about events as the lead up to them & the event itself as a crescendo really helps this. Knowing that social change comes from education & organization, that these things are constant & never ending, that forcing the issue, shaming, ostracization, violence breed resentment, hatred & creates new hurdles even if the initial one is conquered. It’s much easier to just accept reality & adapt to what is, but this just seems to extend all the constant drama. This upsets the ping-pong game sure, but this game is a real waste. People’s lives are at stake.
