Added 2024-09-08 17:57:25 +0000 UTCComing so close to non-existence gave me such a profound taste of the Universal that the specific felt irrelevant to me. I feel like Gandalf after returning from the fight with the Balrog, a different color, hard to identify. Still, my job is to push the Hobbits out of their comfort & meet their destiny on the road less traveled. But honestly, I was shook, dazzled by the cosmic nature of it all. What it felt like to shed myself. I wanted to be Universal & I wanted to only express the Universal. Funny thing is, all of my life previous was devoted to communicating the specific, the very specific, me. I have come to see that in the specific that is me, the universal can be extrapolated, but only if the audience is capable of doing that. That is to say, I can only try to communicate the universal. In this I have come around in many ways to see the value in so many of the specific details that I picked up, emphasized & developed over time, & that I can communicate this glimpse into the universal is other ways, or that it will be communicated whether I want to or not. In this I see that so much of my job is to replicate these Universal life challenges in miniature, in my works so that they can be more understood by people who are maybe trying to escape these life challenges in works of fiction. As I said previous, all works should promote this, the processing of the soul should be inescapable. Even if disguised as Ronald McDonald & friends.
