Patreon Drop: Akashic Core Week 5: Gnomes, Druids, Sorcerers

Today is the fifth week of drops for the Akashic Core project, this time including options for Gnomes, as well as an akashic archetype for Druid and Sorcerer!

Daevablooded (Sorcerer Archetype)

Within your bloodline there was once a daeva; an akashic creature that embodies an emotional concept which your magic is fueled by.

Daeva Bloodline: The daevablooded’s sorcerous powers are fueled by the powers of a daeva that existed in their bloodline. At 1st level, the daevablooded chooses a retold daevic passion; this chosen passion determines the veils they can shape using their daeva bloodline and once chosen cannot be changed. If the daevablooded gains multiple daevic passions from different sources, they choose the same passion each time. The daevablooded treats their chosen passion’s associated class skills as sorcerer class skills. They do not gain any of the other abilities of their chosen passion. If an effect is determined based on their daevic passion, such as the Daevic Aspect veil, they are considered to have the chosen passion.

This replaces the sorcerer’s bloodline bloodline arcana, bloodline powers, and bloodline feats class features.

Passion Veils: The daevablooded’s passion inspires within them a single emotion that can tap into to channel their akashic and magical power. They learn how to shape their passion’s passion veils; they treat their sorcerer level as their veilweaving level and their Charisma as their veilweaving modifier.

If their chosen passion uses a different veilweaving modifier than Charisma, such as the Knowledge passion using Intelligence, the daevablooded may choose to use that ability score in place of their Charisma for their veilweaving modifier and in place of their Charisma to determine all of their sorcerer class features, such as bonus spells per day, maximum spell level they can cast, and the save DCs of their spells. Once this choice has been made, it cannot be changed.

At 1st level, the daevablooded gains 1 passion veil slots; they may only shape their passion veils in their passion slots, and using their passion veil slots they can shape Blood-slot passion veils. They do not gain the ability to shape Blood veils in any other passion slots. They gain an additional passion veil slot at 9th and 19th level.

Unlike a normal veil, the daevablooded cannot invest the veils shaped in their passion veil slots directly with essence; instead, they invest essence directly in their passion and their passion veils are treated as invested with that much essence. The daevablooded treats their passion as if it were a normal essence receptacle for all purposes, such as the Enhanced Capacity feat. If one of the daevablooded’s passion veils would benefit from an effect that directly increases its effective invested essence, such as an akashic catalyst, that benefit only applies to the affected passion veil and not all of their passion veils.

If the daevablooded gains a passion and passion veils from multiple sources, their passion is always considered a single essence receptacle that affects all of their passion veils.

Essence Pool: At 1st level, the daevablooded gains access to a pool of essence which can be invested into their essence receptacles to increase their power. The daevablooded gains 1 point of essence at 1st level, and every 2 levels thereafter.

Improved Essence Capacity: As the daevablooded further hones their sorcerery their connection to their daeva bloodline grows further as well, allowing them to better utilize their essence. At 3rd level, 9th level, and 15th level, the maximum essence capacity of the daevablooded’s veils and essence receptacles increases by +1.

Selectable Binds: At 3rd, 11th, and 20th level the daevablooded gains a selectable chakra bind. When they shape their veils for the day, they choose one chakra bind slot for each selectable chakra bind they possess and gain the ability to bind veils to the chosen slots. They cannot select the same bind multiple times. The class level requirements to select each chakra bind slot are as follows:

* If the daveablooded gains the ability to bind Blood veils using this ability, they can only bind Blood veils shaped in a passion veil slot.

Passion Feats: At 5th, 7th, 13th, 17th, and 19th level the daevablooded gains a bonus akashic feat of their choice which they meet the prerequisites for.

Guided Sibyl (Druid Archetype)

Speakers for the world itself, these seers and druids are guided by a spirit of nature that provides them great and wondrous power should they continue to act on the behalf of it and nature itself.

Limited Domain: The guided sibyl must choose a domain using their nature bond class feature. They do not gain the domain abilities of their selected domain, only the domain spell and domain spell slots.

This modifies the druid’s nature bond class feature.

Guiding Spirit: At 1st level, the guided sibyl gains the audience and allyship of an akashic spirit that guides them and acts as a speaker for nature itself. This functions as per the akashic spirit class feature of the volur, using their druid level as their effective volur level when determining its abilities and statistics, save for the following modifications:

If the akashic spirit is slain, any essence invested in their veils granted by their nature’s veilweaving class feature (see below) is immediately burned, they cannot recover that burned essence while their akashic spirit is slain, and they cannot reallocate their essence to or from their veils granted by nature’s veilweaving for as long as their spirit is slain.

The guided sibyl does not choose the aspectual circle and aspect of their akashic spirit, and they cannot meditate to change its aspect. Instead, their spirit’s aspectual circle and aspect is based upon the guided sibyl’s choice of domain made at 1st level, as per the following. If a domain lists multiple aspectual circles or aspects, the guided sibyl chooses one of those aspectual circles and aspects at 1st level for their guided spirit; once this choice has been made it cannot be changed.

If the guided sibyl has the ability to choose a domain that isn’t listed above, the GM selects an appropriate aspectual circle and aspect (or multiple such to choose from) that an akashic spirit of that domain gains.

Reduced Spells: A guided sibyl prepares and casts two fewer spells each day of each spell level except for orisons, to a minimum of 0 spells each day. This reduction applies to the bonus spell slots granted by high ability scores, but does not affect their domain spell slots.

This modifies the druid’s spells class feature.

Nature’s Veilweaving (Su): Through their connection to their akashic spirit, the guided sibyl learns to shape the magical power known as akasha into powerful veils, which are drawn from the huay veil list. They know and can shape any veil from the list. The guided sibyl uses their Wisdom as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The DCs of the guided sibyl’s veils are equal to 10 + the number of points of essence invested in the veil + the guided sibyl’s veilweaving modifier.

At 1st level, the guided sibyl gains the ability to shape a limited number of veils each day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil at 11th, and 20th level.

Essence Pool: At 1st level, the guided sybil gains access to a pool of essence which can be invested into their essence receptacles to increase their power. The guided sybil gains 1 point of essence at each class level.

Selectable Binds: At 3rd, 13th, and 20th level the guided sibyl gains a selectable chakra bind. When they shape their veils for the day, they choose one chakra bind slot for each selectable chakra bind they possess and gain the ability to bind veils to the chosen slots. They cannot select the same bind multiple times. The class level requirements to select each chakra bind slot are as follows:

Spiritual Spells: At 3rd level, if the guided sibyl’s akashic spirit has the deliver akasha ability, it also gains the deliver touch spells ability of a familiar.

Spiritual Embodiment (Su): At 8th level, the guided spirit gains the volur’s spiritual embodiment ability.

Feats

Ancestral Defensive Training (Akashic)

You have learned to hone your defensive training by tapping into the akashic record to draw upon the experiences of your ancestors.

Prerequisites: Defensive training racial trait, essence pool or akashic subtype

Benefits: As part of your daily preparations, choose a single creature type. If you choose Humanoid or Outsider, you must choose a subtype that your hatred racial trait applies to rather than all creatures of that type. If you choose the same type of creature as your defensive training racial trait, the effects of this feat stack with the effects of defensive training.

This feat can be invested with essence; for each odd point invested, you gain a +1 dodge bonus to AC against creatures of the chosen type. For every even point invested, you gain a +1 insight bonus on Reflex saves against the abilities and spells of creatures of the chosen type.

You gain 1 point of essence.

Gnomish Akasha (Akashic, Gnome)

Your natural gift for illusory magics has been augmented by your training in akasha, granting you a bit more versatility than your other kin.

Prerequisites: Gnome, gnome magic racial trait, essence pool or akashic subtype

Benefits: The DC increase provided by your gnome magic racial trait also applies to saves made to resist the illusions created by veils you shape. If you have a Charisma of 11 or higher, you also increase the number of minor veils you can shape by 1, to a maximum of 4; if you could not already shape minor veils, you only gain the ability to shape minor veils with the Figment or Glamer descriptors, and you use your character level as your veilweaving level and your Charisma as your veilweaving modifier with those veils.

You gain 1 point of essence.

Honed Illusion Resistance (Akashic, Gnome)

You have learned to hone your natural resistance to illusions using the essence of your soul.

Prerequisites: Gnome, illusion resistance racial trait, essence pool or akashic subtype

Benefits: This feat can be invested with essence; for each point of essence invested, you gain a +1 insight bonus on saving throws against illusion spells and effects.

You gain 1 point of essence.

Memories of the Downtrodden (Akashic)

Your ancestors were underfoot and downtrodden, living among those larger than them and learning to stay unnoticed within their shadows.

Prerequisites:  Humanoid creature, size Small or smaller, essence pool or akashic subtype

Benefits: You treat Stealth as a class skill. You can invest essence in this feat; for each point invested, you gain a +1 insight bonus on Stealth checks. Whenever you make a Stealth check, you treat the results of your check as 1 higher per odd point of essence invested in this feat against creatures larger than you. This is a supernatural effect.

You gain 1 point of essence.

Memories of the Overlooked (Akashic)

You have further delved into the memories of your ancestors, granting you even more insight into staying out of sight of those larger than you.

Prerequisites: Memories of the Downtrodden, essence capacity 3 or higher with Memories of the Downtrodden

Benefits: When at least 3 points of essence are invested in your Memories of the Downtrodden, you can use Stealth to hide from creatures larger than you as if you are concealed and creatures who are larger than you do not automatically foil your stealth using unusual forms of perception, such as blindsense, blindsight, or tremorsense; such creatures must make Perception checks as normal to detect you when you make use of the Stealth skill.

You gain 1 point of essence.

Soulguided Obsessions (Akashic, Gnome)

By utilizing the power of your soul and its ties to the Akashic Record, you can direct your obsessive impulses to topics as you see fit.

Prerequisites: Gnome, obsessive racial trait, essence pool or akashic subtype

Benefits: As part of your daily preparations, you can change the Craft or Profession skill you chose for your obsessive racial trait to another Craft or Profession skill of your choice. You can make checks with the chosen skill even if you are untrained. This feat can be invested with essence; for each point invested, you gain a +1 insight bonus to checks made with the chosen skill.

You gain 1 point of essence.

Soulguided Training (Akashic, Gnome)

Your soul's particular attunement to your obsession grants you even greater aptitude.

Prerequisites: Gnome, Soulguided Obsessions

Benefits: You gain 1 skill rank per level that is immediately applied to the skill you chose with your obsessive racial trait. If you already had ranks in that skill, they are immediately retrained to other skills of your choice when you gain this feat (if you are using the background skills optional rules and those skill ranks were background skill ranks, those retrained ranks must still be applied to other background skills). Whenever you change your obsessive skill using Soulguided Obsession, the skill ranks granted by this feat are immediately retrained to your newly chosen obsessive skill.

You gain 1 point of essence.
