Familia Royale (Retold Rajah Archetype)
Rather than honing their own royal powers, these rajah form a royal family of their closest allies through which they share their abilities.
Expanded Vassalage: The familia royale can make any type of attack through their vassalage, rather than just weapon attacks (such as attacks made using spells, veils, or abilities).
This modifies the rajah’s vassalage class feature.
Chosen Family (Su): At 1st level, the familia royale gains the ability to designate creatures as their chosen family, joining a single group of shared vassalage and power. Once per day by spending 1 hour in meditation, the familia royale can designate a number of their allies up to their Charisma modifier (minimum 1) within Close range (25 feet + 5 feet per 2 class levels) of them and treat them as their royal family. These chosen creatures remain members of the familia royale’s royal family until they use this ability again, or until they become hostile towards the familia royale or another member of their royal family. The familia royale is always considered a member of the royal family. Each member of the royal family can sense the distance and direction to each other member of the royal family as long as they are on the same plane as each other, and they can detect whether their family members are wounded (below maximum hit points, or suffering any nonlethal damage), and if they are in a particularly dangerous or stressful situation (such as combat or a stressful social situation).
This royal familial bond created by the familia royale has a distinct and visible manifestation, clearly marking each member of the royal family as belonging to it. The exact nature of this bond is unique to each familia royale. A creature can only belong to a single royal family at a time.
This replaces the rajah’s veilweaving and empowered titles class features.
Familial Bond (Su): At 1st level, the familia royale gains the ability to invest essence into their bond between themself and a member of their royal family. The familia royale considers each member of their royal family (including themself) as a receptacle for their essence. For each point of essence invested in that family member, they gain 2 temporary hit points at the beginning of each of their turns, and they gain a +1 insight bonus on damage rolls made using the familia royale’s vassalage class feature (see below). For every three points invested, they gain a +1 insight bonus on attack rolls made using the familia royale’s vassalage class feature (see below). The temporary hit points granted by this bond persist until the beginning of the family member’s next turn.
Shared Vassalage (Su): The familia royale treats all members of their royal family within range of their vassalage class feature as their vassals, other than themself. All of the members of their royal family within this range also gain the benefits of the familia royale’s vassalage ability, treating the familia royale and their vassals, other than themself, as their vassals for the ability. They use the familia royale’s class level when determining the effects of the vassalage ability shared with them. Unlike the familia royale themself, the members of the royal family cannot replace their base attack bonus with the rajah’s class level when making attacks or for the purposes of meeting prerequisites.
Shared Heraldry (Su): At 2nd level, the familia royale gains the ability to prestidigitation as an at-will spell-like ability, and so too do the members of their royal family while they are treated as the familia royale’s vassals. If the familia royale would gain a heraldry that would grant their unseen servants abilities or spell-like abilities, the familia royale and all members of their royal family treated as their vassals gain those abilities instead. Heraldries share their daily uses between the familia royale and their royal family.
When the familia royale forms their familial bond, they can choose to grant a member of their royal family the full benefits of one of their heraldries. They can grant the benefits of an additional heraldry to a member of their royal family at 4th level, and every 2 levels thereafter; the familia royale can grant the benefits of the same heraldry to multiple family members in this way, but each counts as a heraldry shared using this ability. The familia royale can change which of their heraldries they are sharing whenever they meditate to form their familial bond. Any daily uses or limits of the heraldries shared in this way are shared between every member of the royal family. The member of the royal family maintains the benefits of a shared heraldry even when they aren’t treated as one of the familia royale’s vassals, including the abilities normally granted to an unseen servant by that heraldry. The familia royale’s statistics and class level are used to determine the effects of a shared heraldry. If a heraldry grants an effect with a continuous or permanent duration, that effect ends on the royal family member if the heraldry that granted it stops being shared with them.
This replaces the rajah’s house of servants.
Long-Distance Family (Su): At 3rd level, the range of the familia royale’s vassalage increases to 50 feet + 5 feet per class level. At 7th level, it increases to 100 feet + 10 feet per class level. At 11th level, it increases to 400 feet + 40 feet per class level. At 15th level, the range becomes unlimited as long as their family member is on the same plane as them. At 19th level, it reaches into other planes as well.
Familia Immortal (Su): At 20th level, whenever a creature is a member of the familia royale’s royal family for one or more months continuously, they also gain the benefits of the familia royale’s earthbound immortal class feature until they leave the royal family. However, they may only be revived using that class feature once each year, even if they leave the royal family and later regain this ability during the same year. If they reach the age they would normally die of old age while benefiting from this ability, they instead die of old age after spending one total year outside of the royal family (time spent outside of the royal family is cumulative).
This modifies the rajah’s earthbound immortal class feature.
Rajah Retold Heraldries
Flaring Authority (Su)
You can flare your divine powers and terrifying authority to strike fear into hearts and minds and bend them to your will. You can use Intimidate to coerce, force, and demoralize creatures without needing to share a language with them; your demands and threats upon them delivered straight to their mind through the sight of your flaring aura. This is a visual mind-affecting fear effect.
When you successfully coerce a humanoid creature using Intimidate, you can affect them as if by charm person for the duration of the coercion, using your rajah level as its effective caster level. This is a visual mind-affecting fear and charm effect.
You can select this heraldry a second time starting at 9th level, causing the charm imposed by your coercion to work against any type of creature, and for it to function as per charm monster for the duration.
Flexible Markings (Su)
You can suppress or enhance the marks of your command over your vassals.
If you make a creature your vassal by entitling them or branding them using a veil, while that veil is suppressed or invested with no essence you can choose to suppress the visual effects of your vassalage upon that creature as part of reinvesting your essence. If you make a creature your vassal through other means, you can suppress your mark upon any number of those creatures as a swift action, or as part of reinvesting your essence as a swift action.
If a creature uses a non-continous ability of a veil that marks them, the mark becomes visible and cannot be suppressed again for 1 minute. If you use your vassalage ability to manifest through a vassal with a suppressed mark, that mark becomes visible and cannot be suppressed again for 1 minute.
You can also choose to enhance the marks of your vassalage as a swift action, as part of reinvesting your essence as a swift action, or as part of making a creature your vassal. When enhanced, any creature who looks upon the mark immediately learns that you are the one who they are a vassal to, and gains a bonus on Knowledge (local) or Knowledge (nobility) checks to identify you by name equal to half your level. This is a mind-affecting visual effect; creatures who see the enhanced mark immediately gain any of the following information of your choice, chosen when the mark is enhanced: the ability to recognize some of your current physical characteristics (such as height, eye or hair color, clothing you are currently wearing, sound of your voice, and so on), your name, and/or any titles you possess. This enhancement persists until you choose to suppress the mark, or to end this enhancement as a swift action or as part of reinvesting your essence as a swift action.
You can choose to unsuppress and enhance the same mark as part of the same action.
Oppressing Presence (Su)
Your very presence inspires fear and dread in those who oppose you. You may choose for your fear effects to ignore the immunities to mind-affecting and fear effects of your vassals and other creatures within 10 feet of you. If you affect a creature with a fear effect and they stop being your vassal or leave this area, they continue to be affected by it even if they regain their immunities.
Subjugated Vassal (Su)
Whenever you successfully intimidate a creature, you can force them to be your vassal while they are within range of your vassalage class feature. If they were demoralized, they remain your vassal for as long as they are shaken by demoralizing them. If they were forced or coerced, they remain your vassal for the duration. They are marked as your vassal for the duration, as normal for one of your vassals, and when making an attack or using an ability through that vassal, you can target and attack the vassal itself.
You may only have a single subjugated vassal at a time; subjugating an additional creature ends the effects of your subjugation upon the first.
Special: You can select this heraldry multiple times, allowing you to have one additional subjugated vassal at a time. If you would attempt to subjugate a creature that would bring you beyond this maximum, you choose which of your current subjugated vassals is released from their subjugation.
Tyrant’s Grasp (Su)
You can draw upon the divine power you grant to your allies, dragging them to your side. As a move action, you can use your divine essence to pull one of your vassals up to 30 feet directly towards you. This forced movement does provoke attacks of opportunity and ignores difficult terrain. If the vassal’s movement collides with another creature or obstacle of their size or larger, the movement ends. If your vassal is unwilling, they can make a Will saving throw (DC 10 + 1/2 your rajah level + your charisma modifier) to negate being pulled, and for the next minute they automatically succeed on Will saves against this ability.
You can use the ability of this heraldry through your vassals (you cannot target the vassal you use this ability through).
You can select this heraldry a second time; if you do, three times per day instead of pulling your vassal you can teleport them to a space adjacent to you of your choice. You do not need line of sight or effect to teleport your vassal in this way, but they need to be on the same plane as you.
