[DEVBLOG#237] Vanilla Races Expanded - Highmate infographics
Added 2023-06-21 15:43:12 +0000 UTCHey there everyone!
While you've been enjoying our deserter teasers, we've been hard at work preparing the Vanilla Races Expanded - Highmates mod for release. This of course included extensive beta testing which showcased quite a few issues, but we managed to promptly work through them and fix them all.
We are just doing some final beta testing, but within a week we should be able to release the mod.
As always before the mod release, I've prepared the infographics. They are not final yet, so bear that in mind, but they should nicely summarize what's coming in the mod.
Let's take a look!

Furthermore, I have also been designing the infographics for Vanilla Factions Expanded - Deserters, which has been quite a lot of fun, but also a huge undertaking. That mod is massive.
It will soon be entering beta testing, and testing of such big mods often takes about a month, so I wouldn't expect Deserters to come out this month. Maybe next - but that's still a big maybe!
Oh, and things are moving on Vehicle framework front too! Fun!

These are some handy genes for my succubus/incubus xenotype, very nice additions!

2023-06-26 00:29:42 +0000 UTCI know you are dialing back on the Mass Effect content, but like, the psychic conception and some of the upgraded psychic bond things would fit the Asari like a glove. Anyway, awesome update as always!

2023-06-23 02:19:47 +0000 UTC"things are moving on Vehicle framework front too!" - I see what you did here ;p
2023-06-22 12:01:07 +0000 UTCAs per the infographics - these genes can be disabled in mod options. No need for cherry picker.

2023-06-22 06:42:50 +0000 UTCThey were not, they lent more towards that sci fi concubine aesthetic. Rest of this mod looks really cool, so I think I'm finally going to have to bite the bullet and get the cherry picker mod because the whole cat girl thing just feels silly and forced.

2023-06-22 00:51:11 +0000 UTCYou mentioned in an earlier dev blog that you were considering making highmates obtainable through royal rank. Did that make it into the mod? Because highmates are incredibly hard to find base-game.
2023-06-22 00:11:40 +0000 UTCThe dominant/recessive genome alone is going to make this a staple mod from here on

2023-06-21 22:03:52 +0000 UTCNow that makes it both worth it and sense, imo. Thank you.

2023-06-21 19:51:58 +0000 UTCWe will double the mood thought from lovin tho

2023-06-21 19:31:04 +0000 UTCThat's fine. I think you're blowing it incredibly out of proportion. It's very rare that pawns in RimWorld do lovin' to more than one person - but if it's such a big problem for you, you can simply disable the gene via cherry picker. I believe that the 5% increase in value and +5 opinion on lovin' is enough to warrant -1 metabolism.

2023-06-21 19:25:54 +0000 UTCI think it would also be very interesting if highmates were capable of stopping other pawns with a mental state. Perhaps a branch of highmates that have enhanced psy-bond would allow them to calm down their partner (Or any pawn by making a temporary bond).

2023-06-21 18:29:53 +0000 UTCIt's honestly like the sap blood gene which only slows down bleeding rather than stopping it (there are genes for that though) and in turn reducing metabolic efficiency by 2 as well as work speed by 20% (pretty damn big, and I'd take the depressive trait over 20% less work speed)
Oleg Oleg
2023-06-21 17:56:59 +0000 UTCThat's a very marginal number to be usable for slave trade, the implantation alone takes days until they recover, and many prisoners are worth less than a thousand. You'd end up better selling the food the prisoner used while alive to get more money. Unless the gene adds something like +100% market or even better selling value, I don't think I'll want such a detrimental thing which turns "perfect for the sexy time of your life" into "average sex with a permanent debuff for less opinion gain than a single tier of beauty which costs efficiency"
Oleg Oleg
2023-06-21 17:55:22 +0000 UTCUnless youβre into slave trade.
Oskar Potocki
2023-06-21 17:41:26 +0000 UTCAlso, market value is negative, if anything, since it doesn't give you any boons but it does increase raid strength
Oleg Oleg
2023-06-21 17:26:16 +0000 UTCThat's basically neglible tho. I'd expect a mood buff to compensate if anything
Oleg Oleg
2023-06-21 17:24:04 +0000 UTCThat's looking very cool - but I'm afraid of the comment section when this gets posted on Steam Workshop XD

2023-06-21 17:15:22 +0000 UTCAh ok thanks! Didnβt know about opinion buff. Still sounds oddly detrimental overall though imo. Although to be fair idk if thatβs intentional nor have I tested it myself π

2023-06-21 16:42:03 +0000 UTCIt increases the value of the pawn by +5%, and it also gives opinion buff of +5 to anyone sleeping with a perfect body trait.

2023-06-21 16:37:17 +0000 UTCIt increases the value of the pawn by +5%, and it also gives opinion buff of +5 to anyone sleeping with a perfect body trait.

2023-06-21 16:37:13 +0000 UTCOr am I missing something?
Oleg Oleg
2023-06-21 16:02:49 +0000 UTCQuestion: if perfect body more or less only makes pawns no longer be satisfied by non perfect body pawns, then why does it cost metabolic efficiency without providing any buffs?
Oleg Oleg
2023-06-21 16:02:42 +0000 UTCLooks great, you guys are on fire!

2023-06-21 15:58:39 +0000 UTCWere base highmates, cat girls???
Michael Fisher
2023-06-21 15:57:15 +0000 UTCJust based off the description, seems like perfect body is actually a bad thing. Does it come with any benefits or does it just ruin non-perfect body lovin for the receiving pawn?
