[Release] Vanilla Psycasts Expanded

Vanilla Psycasts Expanded is potentially our Magnum Opus, a greatest, most exquisite, complex and visually stunning mod up to date. As always, it started with us simply not being satisfied with how Psycasts ended up being in Royalty DLC. This resulted in us wanting to expand on the concept, and expand we did.

Inspired by games such as World of Warcraft, Stellaris, Path of Exile and many more, we have designed a brand new system that makes Psycasters truly worth-while, whilst also keeping everything anchored in the grim universe of RimWorld. This mod does not add fantasy character classes, tossing fireballs left and right, conjuring holy magic to repel demons etc. It simply expands on the mysterious psychic powers granted by the link to an archotech.

Complex level-up system will reward you for meditating, allowing you to distribute ability points in many different paths, unlocking hundreds of new, unique abilities, each kept in line with vanilla psycasts when it comes to balancing and visuals. Ultimately, it’s up to you if you want to become a fire-slinging conflagrator, an animal ruling wildspeaker, or a mix of both. As it always is with RPG games, you can also spend level-up points on upgrading your overall psycaster stats.

On rare occasions, enemies can send their finest psycasters against you. They will be able to use all their unlocked abilities to defeat you, so you should make sure to prioritize them. Don’t worry - Psycaster raids are rare, and the game prompts you with fair warnings that an enemy raid is utilising a psycaster.

But… there is no sensitivity ceiling in vanilla, is there? Either way: the AI will never spawn with extremely high sensitivity. They rarely put points into stats, if ever. Only the player has an option to keep levelling up Psychic Sensitivity. Emphasis on the option: you can just simply… not level up sensitivity. Am I missing something?

Became a patron just so I could post an issue in VPE without sounding ungrateful for a "free mod": Vanilla Psycasts Expanded needs opt out config mechanics. I can opt out of specific psycasts and skilltrees using XML, but there's no way to opt out of the infinite psystats or infinite psychic sensitivity mechanics without editing or modifying the assembly (which is both sketchy and difficult). I very much like *most* of the VPE content, but I like my mods modular. I like having new mechanoids without total war, I like new weapons without tools, I like my new psycasts without eliminating the sensitivity ceiling that brings a semblance of balance to Vanilla Rimworld.

Vanilla Psycasts Expanded allows you to unlock any mediation focus. Each has a custom icon. SoS2 adds their own, but it has no icon.

Hi Oskar- AMAZING Job as always! When you have soft incompatibility with Save Our Ship 2 you say "no icon on the new meditation focus" Can you please let me know what this means?

I noticed when using skip to teleport pawns it stuns them for a short while, including self casts. Is this normal? Don't remember seeing any details about it unless I missed them.

This is criminally awesome. I was expecting a few more psycasts, maybe a few items, and I would have been happy with that, but I am very surprised. Absolutely wonderful job, team.

Did you draft a pawn and right clicked the skipdoor with them? If yes and nothing still happens, please submit a bug report in the steam discussion under the mod, with proper logs attached as described there.
