[DEVBLOG#109] Vanilla Animals Expanded - Endangered

Hey hey hello there beautiful people.

Let me begin by saying a massive thank you for being my patrons in these difficult times. I hope I can provide you with more entertainment and more interesting mods in the coming months!

As some of you know, I have teamed up with another great modder - Roolo (author of dual wield, Giddy-up and What The Hack?) and we are working on our own, great game! Let me tell you, if you're a fan of Faster Than Light, RimWorld and Don't Starve in pirates setting, you will love it! More information will follow soon.

Now, about the mod we're releasing in 3 days: I have prepared infographics for it, so please be my guest and take a look at them!

Let me know what you guys think and be sure to check this patreon regularly for updates on Anima forest, Classical (I'm considering moving classical before Anima Forest in development queue) and Rim-Effect!

See you all soon!

Aww no! What's wrong with normal leather and meat? They are still just like normal animals - you can tame them, you can slaughter them, you can eat them. If I gave them unique drops, it would incentivise killing them instead - which is the opposite of what the mod aims to do! :P

Oskar Potocki

Maybe they could have some special leather? As a different option for short term profit if you cant afford to help them like if you play on extreme biomes.

Nameless Guardsman

Haha as stated in the first image in the mod description, you can enable the release to the wild button on all animals!

Oskar Potocki

Nice! Can we get the ability to release normal animals as well? It would be nice alternative for when you get a pack of pets you don't want, no more having to slaughter a pack of friendly yorkshire terriers.

No, the relations gain is the same for all endangered animals.

Oskar Potocki

Do you get more relations when you release an extinct animal compared to a vulnerable animal?

This is really cool, though judging from some of the somewhat...mmmm...barbaric...posts on Facebook, a lot of these animals are going to wind up on dinner plates. Or maybe the players just enjoy cannibalism and are kinder toward animals. In any case, maybe consider killing them incurs a diplomatic penalty to the civilized factions just as releasing them incurs a positive boost for relations. Wearing their fur could maybe also be a negative (like wearing human skin) for pawns with certain traits or even cause social fighting likelihood to increase.
