Added 2021-05-25 01:31:27 +0000 UTCBarry and I got a very stressed-out email last week saying "I borrowed my friend's signed copy of SuperButch Issue One, and...well, my housemate has a dog. Can I get a replacement copy?!" Of course the answer was yes, but we demanded cute dog pics first. :)
Off the subject:
This month has been a quadruple whammy of premature cartoonist-death. I met Jesse Hamm a couple of times at Helioscope Studio. I don't remember any particulars of our interactions, just a general pleasant feeling. But I'd really been enjoying his art tutorials lately. As a teacher, he combined a really refined eye for technique, with an encouraging vibe and enthusiasm for the medium that are really hard to get across all at once. Anyway, it's a huge bummer, and his work is really worth checking out! His "Hamm Tips" and blog posts are a treat.
