A TRUE SHOW OF POWER | That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime - Episode 8 | Season 3

i mean it'll be next season but yeah that's prolly still a year and a half away

Daniel Meissner

The woman in ice—-it’ll be a while until you learn who she is. And once you do it’s a “damnit there were so many hints” sort of reveal.

Richard Diaz

Let me correct myself: Rimuru's new Predict Future Attack Skill (Part of Raphael, iirc), is not 100% accurate. I'd have to look up the details, but Rimuru can tell how likely an attack is to land, and how dangerous it is.

myst0dreamer

Just as Rimuru tries not to interfere in any of his crew's fights. ...... To me, Luminus does love to be pampered, and doesn't tend to use magic for her creature comforts, but in this case, she did use magic because time was ticking.

myst0dreamer

Freaking loved this episode! That is so wild that he sacrificed his ultimate!!

FIRST OF ALL... Chris, you are still rocking that beanie and I just thought it deserved complimenting. 🫶 Now, the shenanigans on screen. 😮‍💨 - I don't know if you guys noticed, wherever Luminus was pressing against the box she turned red. I'm not saying it's important, but I've always found it a fascinating detail they added. - Lol, John you definitely pointed out what I've always thought was the most important trait of Luminus'. She always lets her followers pamper(worship) her, and then completely disregards anything they did for her. - They have not said who the woman in the box is. It's a surprise! What's in the box!?! 🔄🔃🔄 - GODD*MNIT SHION! Rimuru did not say surrender or death. He said kill for your survival. Listen when you are being spoken to. 😑 I will admit that this is perhaps the most restraint I've ever seen her exercise. So maybe she does actually hear every other word or so. 🤔 - For as much as they talk in this anime I agree with myst0dreamer, I wish they put more of their thoughts into the fights for us. For me, I prefer the fight scenes in the LNs. You really do miss out on so much context and content. From Hinata and Rimuru both. I get why they do it this way in the anime. The fights are concise, and don't drag out forever. It's one of the biggest appeals for me about this anime. For me, the fights are always animated so amazing and flow beautifully. I just wish that it wasn't gained by sacrificing important content. 🫤 - While escorting all of the other knights away to have separate battles is a strategic move I'm gonna be real about this: Tempest folk just love a good brawl. 😂 Yes, it all stems from monsters respecting power and battle, but boiled down they all just love to fight. 💗 - I will always adore the Tempest Crew all standing back and not interfering in Rimuru's fight. It may be because of misconceptions about his powers at any given time, but they all have absolute faith in Rimuru and his abilities. 🥰 - I know myst0dreamer talk at length about it in their comment, but it bears repeating: Rimuru didn't just use Belzebub, he sacrificed it. As you've seen repeatedly in this anime deep want/pleas and sacrifices can unlock abilities through the Words of the World. Rimuru gaining a skill mid fight and sacrificing an Ultimate Skill in the same battle is a huge deal I'm still miffed they didn't really explain in the anime AT ALL. 😑 - I did say the Seven Day Clergy were going to be the more immediate problem... Here we are. Just a bunch of Robed Dicks making dick moves. 😒 - It's officially happened, Tensura has its hooks in you both well and truly. ☺️ Like you said, this anime has a flow to it. It makes you slow down and take breaks and get involved with the characters and their lives. You don't even notice when it happens, you just suddenly realize that you need and enjoy the talking as much as the battles. You're invested with the well-being and welfare of an entire country. Damn Rimuru you sly. 😘 - GREAT reaction guys! You're excitement and enthusiasm emanates through the whole video. Really looking forward to the next episode drop! 🩷💛🩵

love these battles and the world building of this show

Cerulean Spectre

hinata amour looks so badass and shoins master chief skill is so broken and next episode will have some important things in it so write stuff down

Cerulean Spectre

great reaction and can't wait until the next episode and love the animation

Cerulean Spectre

Great reaction! 1. This episode frustrates me so much because it shows how badly they depict the battles. Maybe not the animation (although sometimes that is true), but what’s going on in the characters’ minds, which is the main part of the battles in Slime. This is related to how badly they describe the Skills and Skill system. It also makes it look like the battles are easier for the protagonists than they are, particularly Rimuru, leading some to be dismissive of his strength. 2. By this time in the light novels, much more back story of Hinata has been revealed, which was referred to in Hinata's thoughts during the fight. Some of it was about her relationship with Shizu. She was afraid of being hurt by Shizu, because if Shizu betrayed her, she might have had to kill her. She was afraid because of what happened to her before she transferred to this world. She decided to handle this world in an emotionless and rational way. ...... 3. All the little momentary thoughts continually moved the fight further along. Every time someone thought it was a good time for talking or questioning things, someone else would be thinking that there was no choice but to fight, or it would be countered by a doubt. This would propel the fight another minute, which just means there was a fight. Too many people contributed to the overall inevitability of the fight, even if it were progressive decisions. A lot of people seemed to think it would be simple to just have one character say the exact right thing to stop the fights, and it would work. I think the author set it up to be more realistic in the sense that it would contravene the circumstances and the mindsets of each individual character in the moment. There is a little more detail to every thought and line in the source than in the anime, explaining a bit better why they said or thought what they did in the anime. For instance, at one point near the end, Hinata's thinking that her winning would be the only condition under which Rimuru would listen to her, and then she would be able to apologize. In fact, she was thinking this was the opposite of the first time they met, when she didn't listen to him. Now he won't listen to her. 4. There's always something unpredictable in Slime. No one could say, That Sword! is gonna up and do something by itself!, no matter what anybody on the scene decides. So everybody's wrong! Mwahahaha! I couldn't help putting in that evil laughter, as if I had anything to do with it. We who have seen it already enjoy the secret power of feeling superior every now and then, and really, that's part of the reason we like showing other people what we enjoy, and why we watch reactions, lol. 5. How did Rimuru get Predict Future Attack? Rimuru was thinking he acquired a Skill, and Raphael, a bit indignantly, said, "It was not acquired. It was learned." Raphael wasn't just observing the patterns of Hinata's attacks, it was observing how Hinata was predicting attacks. Hinata has the Skill Measurer (aka Mathematician). One of its Subskills is Predictive Calculation (or other similar names). Remember her Skills are Unique. Her predictions are not perfect. Raphael is an Ultimate and possessed many times more calculative space and ability. Raphael was therefore able to analyze the workings of a lower-tier Skill. They are both analytic-type Skills. But Raphael has brought the new Skill to 100% accuracy. In the anime it made it seem that the ability came out of nowhere, but actually this is demonstrating Raphael's evolving abilities. From now on, calculation of phenomena from a distance (or not) to gain at least a new level of understanding will be a possibility. This is a small point of significance in the story. 6. Again, about the aspects of Shion's Master Chef Skills, and how she used them. The two parts are Optimal Action and Perfect Outcome (or other names with the same meaning). Optimal Action allows Shion to find the exact way to attack something. For instance, if she finds a flaw in a piece or armor, she can continually attack that same flaw. Perfect Outcome means she can force reality to conform with her goals. The two work in tandem. That's why it's possible Shion could beat Rimuru, if her Skills happen to find a way through Rimuru's weaknesses. Rimuru is both stronger and his Skills "outrank" hers, so it'd be unlikely, but it's still possible, because she can alter reality. Predictive and analytic Skills are kind of the natural enemies of reality-bending, illogical Skills. It's not an automatic draw, but it depends on how well they are used. The Saints recognized the subskill Perfect Outcome as having existed in the past. Again, although these are Unique Skills, the subskills which are a part of them are not necessarily unique, just the combination making up the entire Skill. 7. In the battle between Rimuru and Hinata, Hinata tried to use Usurper against Rimuru. Usurper doesn’t work if the Skills she is trying to steal or copy (it can do either) are too weak, which is what happened in the past when Hinata tried to use it in her first encounter against Rimuru. This time, she was unable to use the Skill against Rimuru because Rimuru’s Skills were too strong (i.e., Ultimate). She compares it to Luminus, but I am not sure she has an Ultimate Skill at this point. But some Unique Skills are on a higher level than other Unique Skills, approaching Ultimate level. 8. Hinata is a True Saint, and it is the only reason she can use that armor, which is a materialization of a spirit attribute or armor. It is legendary class, along with the sword that came with it, and was a gift from Luminus. It disappeared when the armor was dispelled at the end of the episode. Rimuru worried his sword wasn’t strong enough, so he coated it in his aura. Melt Slash is only possible because of that Sword and its class, it is Disintegration applied to the sword. However, Hinata’s full transformation to True Saint will take centuries to complete, so her body is still mostly human. She can only wear the armor for about 10 minutes. To withstand the strain of the armor, she had to constantly heal herself because she was taking micro-hemorrhages in her brain. This is why Rimuru, who won’t get tired, was thinking he would have to wait for Hinata to get tired. On the other hand, well aware of her weakness, she knew she had to hurry up and defeat Rimuru while she had this small window of time. 9. Raphael told Rimuru that his barriers (Multilayer Barrier, which many upper level majin have, and by now is second-nature to Rimuru, keeping it activated at all times), would not withstand the attack, and said he also could not avoid the attack; the only chance was to absorb the attack with Beelzebub–the attack, not the sword. The energy overwhelmed the function and destroyed it. More in a later episode. Hinata commented that he could have avoided that attack. What is Raphael doing? Rimuru wants to know too. 10. Both Rimuru and Hinata are in a weakened state after the battle.

myst0dreamer

So at the end there, Raphael warned Rimuru that he needed to sacrifice his Ultimate Skill Beelzebub in order to offset Hinata's Melt Slash attack. So yeah...Beelzebub wasn't just used but it was sacrificed.
