*sneak peek👀* The Sister Who Ate Her Brothers illustration

This image is actually the test illustration I did for this book, absolutely ages ago, in October 2019. Being a test, there was no Art Direction other than the technical requirements so it was extremely gratifying when the book went ahead and they kept referencing this image in terms of feel for the book. :)
Funny enough, I had actually done a painted version of the test illustrations as well. Looking back, I realize I made too much work for myself by doing that but they had initially referenced painted illustrations from my thesis. The gouache versions have the exact same composition but they just did not have nearly the same gravitas as the inked image. It was doing this image (and the other two test illustrations) that really highlighted that I want to draw with ink despite having spent 4 years in University convincing myself I was a painter. I still love painting but it always feel like I am fighting the medium, whereas, drawing just comes natural. Anyways - can't wait to share more of this book.
