Honestly, if it maps onto similar phenomena I've seen over the years, I think these are people who get paid to show up in the orbit of shows that get a certain amount of exposure in a certain part of the internet, and then either try to sway them toward some horrendous opinion, or try to connect what they've already said to a different horrendous opinion as a means of discrediting them. At first it was trying to blame my theory of history on the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, got that a couple times, and now it's about trying to sway me to the belief that I'm right about everything, but the root cause is stil the Moslem who Lusts for Vienna

Michael S. Judge

How the fuck do Arab haters find your pod and think “this is my guy” 😂

DeadPrince

Mike, you talked about reading things that make you feel like you’re reading history, but in the present. One text I’ve read recently is “Diary of a Paramedic” by Ali Al Tuurk. He just released the book. He’s still alive. And he’s another profile in courage I think you would like to know about.

DeadPrince

That was me confusing the words 'holocaust' and 'genocide' as being interchangeable.... Apologies.

Iammax

Wow. My old, substance addled brain had it quite a ways off, appreciate the realignment with reality, as horrid as it is.

Chris

Not to be a scold but I'm tired of hearing you apologize for talking about Gaza. Even if you hadn't taken the time to forge personal relationships with the people who are currently being slowly executed by famine it would still be negligent and immoral not to speak the truth of what is happening to the people of Gaza. Never stop.

John H

the einsatzgruppen (nazi kill squads) and the sonderkommandos (jewish prisoners for ed to work the crematoria in the death camps) are some of the most fkt shit humans have done to one another. hard to believe we may have outdone that in gaza

Laura

Yeah we're saying adios to this goofy bitch. Ever since I started talking about Gaza a bit on nearly every show, I keep getting supposed Western European guys who signed up a week ago to tell me about how Islam is the problem in Denmark or some shit. One of them included the phrase "It seems my people are rather easily stabbed," which was supposed to be a broadside against the violent proclivities of Arabs?, but sounded firmly like Your Problem, Dieter.

Michael S. Judge

They might be. I dont know and i hope not. I do feel fed up with islam in belgium

Sammy Herremans

Then your instincts are genocidal

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/the-dark-side-of-thomas-jefferson-35976004/ I wonder if this article appeared differently when you initially read it. It is full of truly skin-crawlingly awful shit, and Jefferson is still clearly a giant peerless piece of shit, but according to the excerpt below, he didn't order a child to be killed just "sent away". Although, it's almost as creepy that he was so invested in the nailery and the CHILDREN forced to work there, and they were sometimes whipped in order to increase productivity. He personally oversaw the nailery for years. Apparently this was how he sorted those who he saw worthy of "advancement"..? on the plantation. "The incident of horrible violence in the nailery—the attack by one nail boy against another—may shed some light on the fear Lilly instilled in the nail boys. In 1803 a nailer named Cary smashed his hammer into the skull of a fellow nailer, Brown Colbert. Seized with convulsions, Colbert went into a coma and would certainly have died had Colonel Randolph not immediately summoned a physician, who performed brain surgery. With a trephine saw, the doctor drew back the broken part of Colbert’s skull, thus relieving pressure on the brain. Amazingly, the young man survived. Bad enough that Cary had so viciously attacked someone, but his victim was a Hemings. Jefferson angrily wrote to Randolph that “it will be necessary for me to make an example of him in terrorem to others, in order to maintain the police so rigorously necessary among the nail boys.” He ordered that Cary be sold away “so distant as never more to be heard of among us.” And he alluded to the abyss beyond the gates of Monticello into which people could be flung: “There are generally negro purchasers from Georgia passing about the state.” Randolph’s report of the incident included Cary’s motive: The boy was “irritated at some little trick from Brown, who hid part of his nailrod to teaze him.” But under Lilly’s regime this trick was not so “little.” Colbert knew the rules, and he knew very well that if Cary couldn’t find his nailrod, he would fall behind, and under Lilly that meant a beating. Hence the furious attack."

Hearing this accent speaking about reverse mortgages in light of this ep is *chef's kiss*.

Yeah, whatever else ypu may think I am sincere and would like to know more. This may be by distasteful detours in the eyes of some. So thanks for taking the time. But then if hamas is so weak how and why did they still perpetrate okt 7? If it happened on my soil I would want to do worse than israel is doing.

Sammy Herremans

It seems impossible for someone to listen to this show for any amount of time and still ask these questions sincerely, but let's just assume you are. 1) The IDF Navy controls the entire coast of Gaza, and has since 2014, diverting or attacking every seaborne attempt to get aid in besides the farcical US stunt pier 2) The IDF has had total control over the Gaza-Egypt border (what Bibi dubbed the "Philadelphi Corridor") since the summer, and functional control long before. Egypt is also ruled by a corrupt and reactionary comprador regime propped up by the US and Israel. 3) Hamas has about as much power to facilitate the supply of food as the Warsaw Ghetto Judenrat.

Ian H

One has to also consider what was Hamas doing to stimulate or hinder thebavailability of food for their constituency, don't we? Don't forget there is a border with Egypt, who I am sure is providing food en masse for their brethren, right? Not to mention the sea where ships can moor

Sammy Herremans

Another trippy thing about the israelis... using genocide to make memes is... like I saw one of a guy with cucumber slices on his eyes, lying down next to a giant building fire and... just breathing in the smoke??? War is a carcinogen fiesta, and these dudes are fucking doing "the Zyklon B challenge" on tictok.

Raznl

I'm not saying every premise is incorrect. Certainly there are true premises. What I mean is we need to critically engage with presented premises. Or even consider what premises we have been accepting so passively in the past we werent even able to put them into words

Dan Z

"All men are mortal" is arguable?

one key factor in americas initial acquisition of slaves is that the british didn’t want to buy them so they encouraged piracy and stealing the spanish slaves heading to spanish colonies

Kamran Husain

It does stick it to Diamond and Harari pretty well. Unfortunately, some of it still reeks of western chauvinism mainly their mechanistic reductionism and the dismissive attitude with which they frequently address the spiritual beliefs of their subjects. It's pretty unfortunate from my perspective. I for one would have appreciated the authors digging more into spooks who told the king of Egypt to feed the slaves beer and bread exclusively. Instead they scoffed and moved on.

I’ve been combing back over the past episodes to make sure I’ve caught everything and only just heard your previous mention of Da Quinz. I’m struggling to recall how in-depth HBO was with him in the miniseries about his father(I’m remembering him being portrayed as fairly minor and ineffectual). As always, thank you for the education and your compassion is deeply felt. Links and images have been put to use. Also, I guess this is as good a time as any to ask: Have you considered locating a cool editor and compiling your material into a volume? I am selfishly asking as I would love to have such a reference guide. However, I am certain I’m not the only one here who’d like that on their desk or bookshelf. Anyway, happy 61st Fourth Reich Day (Observed).

George Quartz

Definitely gonna check that out, thanks!

Roberto Andrés Lantadilla

I’ve been thinking about the shared, creative sadism between the two genocide campaigns every day

Matt Christman did a whole reading series on this book with his Cushvlog’s. You should check that out.

Hey Mike, I've been listening retroactively your whole catalog while laboring through in a mail sorting facility (Trysero much?), I wanted to thank you for soothing the alienation of my workplace. That out of the way, have you read "The Dawn of Everything" by Wengrow and Graber? It is basically an 800 page fuck off to western chauvinists a la Jared Diamond and Yuval Hahari. In a chapter, they rewrite the early days of enlightenment and basically proove that the incipit of such ideology stemmed from the long period of coexistence between the natives and the jesuit missionaries, in which the latter transcribed conversations in which they were basically owned by the natives. One of those was publiahed in a book hugely popular at the time, I recall by memory something like "Conversations with Gonkarok". Apparently, Roseeau and other pricks were big fans of that book and ripped off many oh his ideas. Isn't it ironic that even the enlightenment sparkle was ripped off by the people without history?

Roberto Andrés Lantadilla

I've always found the concept of a premise in a logical argument very interesting. They're foregone conclusions you present as facts outside the scope of discussion that are inarguable. Through enough repetition this is how ideas are laundered in as facts of nature and become things we are incapable of discussing. I really hate how debate and logic tries to be right only within technicalities in a closed system. Always try to go backwards in an argument and think about the premises that are presented and put them under scrutiny

This seems like a good historical analogy for the "General's Plan": https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2024/05/27/thkt-m27.html . If anyone listens to Radio War Nerd, Annibale described this Wehrmacht-only atrocity in I think the third Operation Bagration episode.m

Ian H

there are multiple reports that groups of armed looters have IDF support. Wish I knew more, but it certainly checks out regarding the systematic genocide approach utilized by "Israel"

Watermane

Side note to all of this re: Jefferson, Mike I don’t know if you’ve ever read an old Smithsonian article titled “The Dark Side of Jefferson”, ( cringeworthy title that it is), but in it, the author details an account wherein Jefferson himself specifically instructs the foreman of a Nail Factory that he owned, which was of course staffed by slave children, to bash one of the children’s heads open in order to increase productivity. Naturally, he suggested that he do so in front of the viewing eyes of the other children. Fuck that motherfucking piece of shit. ANY time someone mentions what a great man he was around me, that’s the one and thing I have to say on the matter.

Chris

As someone who lived in Central/Eastern Virginia for some time, I can confirm the oddity that is the Tidewater accent. My first encounter with it was when I heard the then chief of police of my town speaking. To be frank, he sounded like a drunken Irishman who’d suffered a long undiagnosed stroke. Having said that, I now feel like that accent serves as the nucleus of the entire Eastern Shore/Baltimore/Delaware/Philly accent phenomenon.

Chris

Anyone else see that "armed gangs hijack 100 food trucks in Gaza" story this week and think it fucking stinks? I mean sure, Israel has spent a year systematically murdering every police officer and civil official they could find, so you'd expect some breakdown in order, but how the fuck is the military with a million drones in the sky and no qualms about bombing aid vehicles helpless to stop a massive truck convoy? Considering shit like this ( https://x.com/ajplus/status/1858752818103947494 ) going on at the same time to barely any anglophone coverage, it just seems like laying the groundwork for an alternate explanation ("Mogadishu on the Mediterranean") when the starvation really gets going (and cover for the sort of IDF-coordinated arbitrage opportunities Michael alludes to)

Ian H

Idk how you feel about this but if you can't get the money into Gaza, the Palistinians who managed to cross the boarder before it was completely sealed are in horrific refuge camps in Egypt and Jordan. I know they can use assistance as well.

Bored at Work

"'First' holocaust"?

Iammax

Man cannot live on bread alone. Fuck. I hate and love so deeply, and now I have to try and sleep, to do my job tomorrow of waiting tables at the retirement home. I'd kill every retiree there for a free Palestine, and some of them would even welcome it. And I even really like some of them! We are a sick society, and I am sick among them. Communism will, still, win. Godspeed, comrades, and solidarity forever.
