Lol sounds like the retail world. Work hard, get promoted by being handed more and more work ha. This show keeps getting better and better with each episode!

In our world Medal of Honor wearers are saluted by all soldiers, so the same in Tanya's world. 8:40 This was the general sorting the files for the rapid response unit that Being X had marked Tanya's file. Tanya has the intelligence but she's going up against generals who've been learning strategy for years. Tanya's about to discover that an able assistant is a danger to her stalling tactics. The Empire is a meritocracy, the better you perform the faster you get promoted and the harder tasks get handed to you.

Fun fact, mages are issued the 1908 'Mondragon' rifle which (like many other weapon systems in the show) is a real-life weapon. It was originally designed by the Mexican general, Manuel Mondragon for the Mexican army. They were manufactured by the Swiss company SIG. Unfortunately, only a few of these rifles made it to the Mexican military because they were later found to be unreliable with the lower quality ammo Mexico had at the time and prone to malfunctions if not maintained regularly. SIG sat on hundreds of these rifles until Germany trialed them, though they ran into the same issues that Mexico did (except for the ammo, I think). They ended up buying them still so they could equip the German Imperial Army's Flying Corps. Since mages spend most of their time flying on the battlefield, giving them Mondragon rifles which were excellent weapons for the time - when they weren't malfunctioning -just makes so much sense because of course they wouldn't be fighting in the mud all day. I love this level of attention to detail that this show has!
