Jeff Kober is an awesome actor. He made Kralik so chilling and horrible. A perfect example of what happens when a serial killer -- who was indeed locked up in an asylum for the criminally insane -- becomes a vampire. We've seen ordinary people as far as we know become vampires and how it changes them, and we have seen Drusilla who was driven mad with trauma before turning, but this is the first time we are told that this was a fully psychotic serial killer as a mortal. At least according to what Quentin said to Giles about Kralik. Then Kralik confirms that he murdered and ate his mother, and I have a strong feeling that was when he was mortal, NOT a vampire. It's really fascinating to see these different personalities and how they are affected and changed by becoming a vampire. We saw that Xander is still pretty much an uncool, immature guy. Willow, freed from being "a doormat" (Doppelgangland), embraced the darkness completely. We've seen some Angel and Drusilla flashbacks as well. The series is a long, slow burn of lore and backstory, and I find the vampiric part of the lore particularly compelling. Always pay close attention to flashback sequences. 😁

It's easy to forget exactly how one becomes a vampire, because it was said way back in Season 1. A vampire drinks from the human and then has the human drink from them, presumably before they fully die. If the human doesn't drink the vampire's blood, then the human doesn't turn. It was also shown in the 2-part finale of Season 2. There was a flashback with Angel, and it showed the moment Darla turned him in the alley. She drank from him, cut her own chest to draw blood, and drew him to her to drink her blood. Thus also revealing that Darla was Angel's sire, as Angel then became Drusilla's sire, which he told Buffy back in Season 1 that he did after driving Drusilla insane.

I do agree that bringing in Cordelia during that confrontation scene feels like it takes away from the moment, but I'm also very glad you took the time to appreciate her moment of sincerity and understanding about taking Buffy home after realizing her demeanor. It's one of my favorite small moments for Cordelia as a character that I think gets overlooked by the bigger ones

Watchers never really have a choice but to follow the orders of the council. And when hired. They aren't supposed to be biased towards their slayers. They're supposed to treat it like a boss-worker relationship and not a father-daughter one. So they're supposed to be able to easily follow this order. But it’s different with Buffy and Giles. Because he loves her like a daughter. Which complicates his duties. Now they can go against the council. It just wouldn't be the best course of action. But the betrayal Buffy feels is so incredibly understandable. I just don't know if I can fully put that blame on Giles when he was in a complicated position. With that being said. What a stupid idea altogether. To have the watchers drug their slayers without them even knowing. Not being able to tell them about it. Just taking advantage. I don't know how any slayer would still want that person as their watcher after that.
