Fear, uncertainty, and doubt

Hi folks!

I've been squeezing work hours these latest days, but I managed to complete an environment and a template introduction objective for the 3D project idea. I'm annexing a quick build with the added content in this post if you want to check it out.

I know I've been taking a lot of time to start up a new project for real, but the truth is that I'm still very uncertain about which direction to go. I'm not sure if this realtime 3D model framework will be feasible, especially when the project become bigger and more complex to manage (and also if I can make hot scenes at least as hot as the ones in GRH).  The parody idea is tied to this 3D framework, so I have to make sure it wont stab me in the back after it officially started.

Obviously the waiting sucks, but I don't want to make the same mistake made with HnS3, when an idea that seemed cool at first became very hard to implement because I didn't thought through it as a bigger project.

Peace!

Fear, uncertainty, and doubt

Stoper left a pretty good breakdown, as expected from a veteran dev. Yeah walking around did feel weird especially with the locked directional keys and invisible pathways. I did really like the realtime 3d first person conversation style and would be interested to see that expanded upon if you can get facial expressions and idle animations down. Trying to select options while in conversations or picking up trash felt a little nauseating as the camera kept moving along with the mouse. Keep on working on it Architect! You've got great ideas in your hands.

Great work ๐Ÿ’‹

I think some movements should be reduced, because they feel unnatural: - When watching a character, now it's like the camera follows exact spot on their body, so when they move, the background always moves. Try to watch someone IRL, it doesn't work like this. - Walking in first person mode, it's like you're on a boat. So far I'm not sure if I'd get used to it, or get sick of/from it. Again, try walking IRL, your head does move, but you don't perceive it as such, because you're looking at some spot and don't get this "boaty" feeling.

I quite liked the 3D style. I like the Persona style speech bubbles. the hallways can sometimes be strange because you press left to go right or transitioning between POV and 3rd Person can change the direction required. I like where it's going though

Spend the time upfront else a disaster will happen later.

These invisible pathways felt rather weird. And my head started spinning from the camera movements when collecting the garbage. I personally prefer the 2D style of GRH, makes things look better. The full 3D environment shows a lot of graphical imperfections on the characters. Or maybe I'm just not into these school kids. In any case, a good writing can carry the game regardless of the visuals.
