Thank You for that info Emma, so happy that you are enjoying everything with us.. I really enjoyed this one and we have a shorter one for next week already, about an hour long I think, but, I don't know what it is until we get ready to record it..LOL!!

Her “Speak Now” album she was aiming for a country rock sound for most of the upbeat tracks.

Ahhh.. That explains it so well.. I did not know that was a cover from another artist.. Thank You for the great explanation.. and No, Last Kiss is not my favorite so far, but, I don't think I would skip it in an Album listen either.. She really has a way of drawing us in to whatever she writes about, and I do respect and enjoy that for sure.. I have never been a John Mayer fan anywasys so that is cool with me..LOL!!

Okay, after finishing this part, just one more comment--"Dear John" is the song I mentioned to you in my DM, the one with the important backstory. Those wobbly guitars were a mockery of John Mayer's signature guitar sound, in case you were wondering what that was about. It's also the one that one person on the 'Tube was thinking of requesting, so you might still get a request for a more thorough reaction to that particular one paired with "Would've, Could've, Should've" (her retrospective on the relationship). John Mayer was 32 when he dated her, and she was only 19. It puts the whole song in a very dark cast, but she really killed it on that performance. As somebody who dated a 32yo when I was 22, that messed with my head quite enough. Can't imagine going through that at 19 AND having the jerk be one of my musical idols...

I forgot to mention that she did covers of artists from the areas she visited for this tour! She memorized different songs for different tour stops as a surprise for locals. It seems like she did a different song each night on stops with multiple shows. (EDIT: Obviously you can't see where I paused--it's the one where you were going '???' the whole time and said it didn't sound like anything else she'd written. You were spot on! That was the cover for that area, which I THINK was specifically done as a kind of gesture of gratitude toward the cities that hosted her tour, so to speak? It was an appreciation kinda thing to make each tour stop special. These days she has 250+ songs of her own, so she can just use those as surprise songs, but that wasn't an option this early in her career. And also probably wouldn't have conveyed the same thing, haha.) https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country-lists/videos-taylor-swifts-coast-to-coast-cover-songs-11241/ Knew I forgot something. Oops. (She also mashed her songs up with some other hits to make it a different experience from just listening to the album. I love when she does that, actually. Usually these days she mashes up her songs with…more of her songs haha.) Anyhow, gonna go back to the video after one last thing—totally fine that you aren’t into “Last Kiss”. I love the lyrics, especially when she sings about hoping it’s nice wherever he is, and it’s absolutely a fan favorite… But it’s not MY favorite. 😅 I don’t skip it or anything, but it’s not one I dig out on purpose. Still, you could see how much it meant to the people in that audience—that one gal with tears streaming down her face, for example—so I think it was a good choice for the concert. It’s not for me, but the beautiful thing about music is how what doesn’t suit me can mean everything to somebody else. And watching them appreciate it gives me a new appreciation for it. (That’s why I like reactions, haha.) Like I said—I think your favorite will be Reputation, which has a lot more drive and grit to it compared to her other eras. But I bet seeing her actually get there will be the real fun. Although you’ve already seen 1989, so it might be a biiit abrupt without that bridge. Oh, and there was one tour between this and 1989 where she really started breaking out of country (Red), but that one doesn’t have a tour movie, so it would need to be cobbled together from low-quality fan cellphone videos. I think someone did that on YouTube, but the low audio quality of songs stitched together from different distances with no access to her mic feed was just so unsatisfying… I didn’t think it would be worth it to make you watch it. You’re right that she does experiment with rock and pop sound in this album, though. Her record label was dead set against letting her branch out. Anyway, actually going back to the video now, haha.
